Deadly Doting Marriage Novel - Chapter 60
Chapter 60: How dare you call me a Demon?
Kathleen looked out the window and felt as if a century had passed.
She saw that John had shot and killed Alex and Jimmy with her own eyes.
She also wanted to die along with them and pay off the debt she owed John.
However, she had not died. She was still alive.
Ever since then, she had been having nightmares. In her dreams, she saw Alex and Jimmy die right in front of her eyes.
Their young and handsome faces, the way they talked, the image of them protecting her behind them.
Every frown, every smile, every action, every moment that they had together were being played back in her mind.
They were so young. They had obviously gone through a lot of trouble to escape from the forest.
They still had a great life ahead of them, but all of this had been ended by John.
Kathleen clenched her fists and closed her eyes tightly.
Barkley looked at her distorted face and said in a low voice, “Ms. Yates, you just woke up. Have some water. I will bring you a bowl of soup!”
“No need, ” Kathleen said in a low voice, “I’m not hungry!”
“But your body…”
“It’s all right. You can go.”
Barkley was stunned. He had known Kathleen for many years, but this was the first time he had seen her so calm.
He sized up Kathleen and felt that the current Kathleen had changed. However, he could not tell what had changed.
Barkley hesitated for a moment and said, “That’s good. Let me know if you want something to eat. I’ll get the servants to bring it to you then!”
Kathleen closed her eyes. “There’s no need. I’m going to school!” Kathleen said.
She stood up and was about to wash up when Barkley stopped her. “Ms. Yates, young master has transferred you to another school. You are no longer studying at Hillford University.”
Kathleen was slightly startled and raised her eyes to look at Barkley.
Barkley continued, “You are enrolled into Crafield University. Tomorrow, the driver will send you to the university!”
Kathleen nodded indifferently. “Alright, I got it!”
After Barkley left, Kathleen wanted to get out of bed and wash up.
At this moment, her cell phone buzzed.
She opened it and saw a headline.
“Justice is served. Jimmy Jones and Alex Adams escaped from prison to the forest at the border of Murica. However, they were torn apart by wild beasts…”
Kathleen’s heart instantly tightened seeing the words ‘torn apart by wild beasts’.
She opened the picture and saw that it was actually a picture of two people being eaten by wild beasts. There was only one leg left on their entire body.
Kathleen closed her eyes, and her heart was in turmoil.
She promised to take them away, and she promised to keep them safe.
She could not even keep their corpses safe.
Her tears quickly filled his eyes…
‘Jimmy, Alex, I’m sorry. Please don’t associate yourself with me anymore in your next life.’
The situation was resolved by John. This entire incident had nothing to do with her, although she was the one who helped them escape from prison. The news states that they had escaped by themselves. It had nothing to do with Kathleen at all.
They were eaten by wild beasts instead of being killed by John. All of this had nothing to do with John.
Kathleen looked at the sky and sat there for a whole day.
In the evening, the sky started to drizzle again.
A cool breeze blew in from the window, sending everyone chills.
Kathleen stood up and went to close the window. At this time, the bedroom door opened, and John walked in.
He walked in front of her.
This was the first time the two of them had met since that day.
The room was extremely quiet as neither of them spoke.
Kathleen’s expression was indifferent. No emotions could be seen.
John took a step forward and said in a deep voice, “You will go to Crafield University tomorrow.” Kathleen sat on the bed and nodded.
John sat beside her and raised her chin. “Are you still thinking about those two brats?” John asked.
Kathleen replied indifferently, “No.”
John replied coldly, “It’s for the best if you don’t. Don’t even think about committing suicide. If you die, I will get someone to dig up your father’s grave and throw his bones to the dogs!”
“Go to Crafield and study hard. I bought an apartment there for you to live in.”
Kathleen nodded indifferently. “Oh!”
Ever since the previous incident, Kathleen had never looked at John in the eye. John wanted to say something, but his red lips twitched, and he had not said anything in the end.
He looked at Kathleen for a long time, then opened the door and walked out.
In the middle of the night, the sky started pouring rain, thunder roaring, as lightning flashed across the sky.
Whenever there was a rainstorm, Kathleen would think of that unbearable past.
Her father died on a rainy night, the father died, along with the warmth of her heart!
From then on, she became an orphan.
The images of Alex and Jimmy dying miserably with their eyes wide open, as well as the image of being eaten by wild beasts until there was only one leg left.
Kathleen hid under the blanket tightly and curled her body together.
Tears fell unknowingly into her mouth. It tasted salty and bitter.
The door was opened with a click, and John walked in.
He saw Kathleen curled up in a ball on the bed with a glance.
He quickly walked forward, lifted up the blanket, and carried her into his arms.
Kathleen suddenly raised her head and saw John, who was just inches away from her.
The lightning illuminated his face. At this moment, she remembered it was John, who had killed Jimmy and Alex with a gun in the forest.
Kathleen had not held onto him as tightly as last time. Instead, she was trembling with fear.
It was this face, this cold expression, that mercilessly shot the last warmth of her heart.
Kathleen’s mind was filled with images of the two people before they died. Blood flowed down from their foreheads, and they fell into a pool of blood with their eyes wide open.
These scenes made Kathleen go crazy.
Her small hands pushed his chest with force, and she said angrily, “Get lost! You are a demon! A demon!”
Her father was shot to death by him. Jimmy and Alex were shot to death by him. Everything she cherished was destroyed by him.
She seemed to have gone mad and pushed John with extreme force.
John was very close to the bedside, and he was pushed down by her unexpectedly.
He fell heavily to the ground, and his prosthetic leg fell off.
After so many years, Kathleen had never reacted to him like this before.
John sat up abruptly and grabbed her neck, gritting his teeth. “How dare you call me a demon?” “You hate me for killing those two men, don’t you?”
“Let me tell you, Kathleen, even if you hate me, you will stay by my side for your entire life!” He scolded Kathleen loudly and gripped her neck tightly, as if he was going to crush her.
Kathleen looked at him in a daze, her face flushed red, and she started coughing violently.
At first, she was still struggling. However, she soon stopped struggling and looked at his cold and gloomy face. She actually felt that it would be better if she died like this.
Then, she would be able to see her father, Jimmy, and Alex!
She would not be living a life without dignity, without freedom!
Thunder rumbled outside as a bolt of lightning streaked past, illuminating Kathleen’s face..
