Deadly Doting Marriage Novel - Chapter 279
Chapter 279: Grayson Falls Ill
Nancy staggered away from Erwin, wanting to leave.
Erwin caught up with her and grabbed Nancy’s wrist once again. “It’s fine if you don’t want to be my lover. I won’t force you.”
“But…”
Erwin took out a bank card and handed it to Nancy. He then told Nancy, “Here’s some money to make your life easier.”
“Take it as my compensation to you…”
“I don’t need it!”
She glared at Erwin and said, “You’re indeed very rich, and I really need money. However, please don’t use money to humiliate me anymore.”
“I don’t want a single cent!”
She did not accept Erwin’s card and left.
When she returned home, no matter how sad and upset she was previously or how angry she was, the moment before she opened the door, Nancy’s face was filled with smiles.
Just like how she had opened the door countless times, Nancy said with a smile, “I’m Back!”
However, there was no response from Grayson in the apartment today. It seemed like no one was home at all, but how could it be possible?
It was impossible for her brother not to be home at this time in the past!
Nancy noticed that the living room and kitchen were empty.
She immediately walked toward Grayson’s room. As she knocked on the door, she asked, “Are you in your room? I’m coming in.”
Nancy turned the doorknob.
She pushed the door open and saw Grayson lying on the floor.
Nancy was instantly terrified.
“Grayson!”
Nancy shouted as she rushed toward Grayson and knelt down beside him.
She shook her body vigorously and shouted in a panic, trying to wake Grayson up. “Wake up. Tell me what happened to you.”
“Grayson, wake up!”
However, no matter how Nancy tried to wake him up, it was futile. Grayson lay on the ground with his eyes closed as if he had lost his life. Nancy was terrified.
She panicked and tried to see if he was still breathing.
When she realized that Grayson had only fainted, she was not that afraid!
However, Nancy was still terrified. “What should I do? Tell me what I should do!”
Grayson was already in a deep coma. How could he possibly answer any of Nancy’s questions?
She could only force herself to calm down. She cried out, “The hospital! Yes, the hospital!”
“Hang in there. I’ll send you to the hospital right now!”
Nancy was thin and weak.
She was only 166 centimeters tall, but she only weighed about 100 kilograms.
Moreover, she had been well protected by Grayson since she was young. Although the two of them lived a poor life together, Grayson had always treated her like a little princess.
Grayson had never allowed Nancy to do anything.
Grayson had allowed Nancy to live comfortably, learn the piano, and learn anything that could cultivate her character.
Nancy did not know how to fight, and she had never learned how to fight. She was just a little princess who lived in the middle and lower levels of society. She was elegant and noble to the point of not being tainted by dust.
It was this little princess.
She used all her strength to carry her brother.
She carried Grayson down the elevator with great effort. She swayed and used her thin body to bring Grayson out on the street.
She hailed a taxi and asked the driver to send them to the hospital.
Grayson was sent to the emergency room.
Nancy sat weakly outside the operating theater.
Her eyes were red as she stared at the red light outside the operating theater. Her body was trembling uncontrollably as she kept mumbling a prayer.
“You must be fine! You must be fine!”
“I beg you, I beg the heavens! I beg the doctors and nurses. You must save him…”
Time passed by slowly.
Nancy had always been waiting outside the operating theater like that. Nancy had never seen Grayson fall sick.
She had never seen Grayson fall sick, let alone faint like that. It seemed that she was the only reason why Grayson was hospitalized.
Susan had forced her to abort the child, and he was seriously injured because of it.
Nancy could not help but wonder if it was because of that time. Was it because of that time that her brother did not recover? What kind of sequelae were left behind?
However, it was not!
When the door to the operating theater opened, Nancy immediately ran to the doctor and asked anxiously, “What happened to my brother?”
“He was resuscitated. He should be fine, right?”
The doctor told Nancy, “He’s fine for the time being.”
He asked Nancy to send Grayson to the ward first and then go to his office to look for him later.
Nancy did as she was told.
She first sent Grayson to the ward with the nurse.
Then, she knocked on the doctor’s door and sat down across from him. “You asked me to look for you just now. Did you want to talk to me about brother?”
The doctor nodded.
Then, he took out Grayson’s medical record.
The doctor looked at Nancy and said, “Your brother actually has stomach cancer. He was diagnosed in our hospital more than half a month ago.”
“I don’t think you know about this, right?”
Nancy felt as if a bolt had struck her.
Nancy did not have a father or mother like other children. She grew up together with her brother, Grayson. Her brother was all she had!
She thought that her brother would be with her for the rest of her life.
Why did her brother suddenly get stomach cancer?
Nancy could not accept the fact and look at the doctor. “How could it be? My brother has always been in good health. How could he get stomach cancer?”
The doctor understood the feelings of the family members.
Every family member of a patient could not accept such news.
The doctor could only tell Nancy, “Although this news is hard for you to accept, I’m sorry, it’s the truth.”
Nancy found it hard to accept.
She simply could not digest such a fact.
“How could it be? Brother’s health is obviously very good. He hasn’t even had a cold or fever before! And last night, no, this morning, he was still making breakfast for me.”
“He’s clearly such a healthy person…”
However, no matter how unacceptable it was, she still had to accept it.
Nancy, who was in so much pain that her eyes were red from crying, looked up at the Doctor. “There must be a way to save him, right?”
She looked at the doctor in front of her and placed all her hope on the doctor. “You can definitely save him, right?”
The doctor was not sure either.
The doctor could not give Nancy a definite answer.
He could only tell Nancy, “Given the patient’s current condition, he should definitely be hospitalized for treatment as soon as possible.”.
