Tommy explained, “But even if daddy blames us, what does it have to do with mommy?”

“We’ve saved mommy. Daddy should be happy.”

Tommy patted Anne on the shoulder. “If you can’t figure it out, then don’t think about it. You’re going to see daddy soon anyway.”

“That’s true. It’s better to ask daddy when we meet.”

Kathleen furrowed her brows as she listened to the conversation between them.

Even the two children had noticed that something was off about John. What on earth was wrong with him?

At around four o’clock, the plane arrived in Hillford at the airport closest to Lambert’s residential villa.

Due to receiving orders from John, Karl had been waiting here since early in the morning.

When he saw Kathleen and the others appear, he immediately went forward to greet them, “Ms. Yates, you’ve arrived.”

The car soon stopped outside the main hall of Lambert’s residential villa.

“Young master will be pleased to see you.”

Kathleen saw Barkley and greeted him with a smile. Then, the group of people walked into the villa.

Barkley saw the two children and hurriedly asked the servants to prepare tea and snacks.

The two children had lived here for a period of time and were already familiar with Barkley.

Tommy tilted his head and pouted, “I don’t want to eat these. I want to eat potato chips.”

Anne refused to be outdone. “Me too, I want to eat chocolate!”

The two children went into town with those snacks as they had no such food in Sydnay.

The children ate happily, but Kathleen looked disappointed.

She quietly looked out of the window, her eyes serene, and no one knew what she was thinking about.

Shane sized up the side of her face and said in a low voice, “Miss, you don’t look so good. Is there something wrong? Do you want to call the doctor?”

Kathleen shook her head. “I’m fine.”

The wounds on her body had already scabbed over. It was only occasionally itchy, so it was not a big deal.

Shane probed, “Is miss thinking about Mr. Lambert?”

Kathleen pursed her lips and did not speak.

Shane could not help but say, “Miss, don’t let your imagination run wild. Mr. Lambert might really be busy with something. When he’s done with his work, he’ll come back to see you guys.” Kathleen curled her lips, and a hint of mockery flashed across her eyes.

In the evening, the setting sun’s rays faded away from the heat of the day and became red and warm.

At the gate, John drove the luxury car slowly into the Lambert residential villa and stopped at the entrance of the hall.

The driver opened the door, and John strode out.

When Tommy and Anne saw him, they ran over excitedly. “Daddy, daddy!”

The two children cried out and threw themselves into John’s arms.

When John saw the two children, he pinched Anne’s cheeks. “You two little guys, you are finally back!”

They left for Sydnay behind his back. They were really too bold.
