Cultivation Chat Group - Chapter 100
Chapter 100: A Strange Dream
Five in the afternoon. Shuhang said goodbye to Medicine Master, and returned to the college town.
On the way, he received a text message from Li Yangde, saying that the five thousand meter race results were out and Shuhang unsurprisingly took the first place. Due to Shuhang not being present, Gao Moumou gladly accepted the prize for Shuhang. Yangde also asked if he had returned from the medicine store yet and if he wanted to have dinner with everyone.
‘Come to think of it, after the sports event is over, I still owe Yangde a meal at Ten Fragrances Fish Head. This trip was a success thanks to his information, otherwise it would be very likely that Altar Master would’ve escaped,’ Shuhang mused.
‘It’s about time that I register for driving lessons. And… should I subscribe for chat software membership so that the farm in game will upgrade faster?’
He hasn’t played the farm game in a while. Recently, every time he logged onto the chat software, he only checked it out when he was in the mood. If he weren’t in the mood, he would just let it rot.
However… Nine Provinces Number One Group had so many seniors playing this game… Song Shuhang had to consider picking up this game again. Perhaps, one day, some senior in the group would very happily steal crops from him, and decide to give him some unexpected benefits?
Although the possibility was not high, it was still possible. Anyways, it was just a farm game, and spending some time didn’t cost much! If he could reap some benefits, then it’d be great.
‘There’s much to do.’ Shuhang swiped open the message box and replied to Yangde’s text, “I’m back, where are you guys? I’ll be there soon!”
Then, he jogged all the way back to the college town.
After the dinner with his dorm mates, the four of them had no other plans, so they returned to the dorm to play games.
Too many things happened today—running at the sports event in the morning, traveling great distances to find Altar Master, taking Altar Master’s head, being dragged to the hospital by Zhao Yaya for a checkup, and then encountering all sorts of other things.
So, even if he’d gotten qi and blood pills, Song Shuhang had no energy left to try using one. After a few rounds of games with his dorm mates, he crawled into his bed and slept early.
He was really exhausted.
Before he slept, Song Shuhang converged his remaining mental energy and held up the vigilance technique, allowing him to be in a state of acute perception.
Very soon… he entered dreamland.
The first half of the night, Shuhang slept soundly.
The later half of the night, he had an interesting dream.
In the dream, Song Shuhang returned to ancient Huaxia… the specific era was unknown. He could only tell that it was ancient from the people’s attire and various buildings.
His identity was the son of a coffin store’s owner. He, as the youth in the dream, always looked gloomy, perhaps due to facing coffins all day.
What sort of weird dream is this? Shuhang ridiculed inside. As the saying goes, what you think about in the day you will dream of at night, but still, I never thought of any of these things in the daytime, right?
In the dream, time passed year after year. One day, when he was five or six years old, a Daoist with divine poise and sagely features passed by the small village. Recognizing at first sight his talent, the Daoist wanted to take him in as a disciple.
He lived up to the expectations and was easily swindled by the Daoist into becoming his disciple. Who knew how hurt his coffin-selling father would be?
Only after training for a few years with the old Daoist did he find out that his teacher was a loose cultivator who incidentally obtained part of an inheritance called ‘Ghost Sect’s Ghost Manipulator,’ and had trained arduously till now. However, the inheritance was incomplete and badly damaged, allowing his teacher to barely reach Second Stage Realm.
After a few more years… the old Daoist was killed.
As they were ‘evil sect ghost cultivators’ who would often create resentful ghosts and whatnot, the old daoist was killed, and even his corpse couldn’t be found.
He, who was in the dream, could only rely on himself now.
The old Daoist’s death affected him greatly—he started to become extremely cautious. The more strength he had, the less courage he had.
His life experiences that followed were roughly that of an antagonist in a novel. In order to attain a higher realm, he exhausted all means to foster various kinds of ghosts and demons by finding a paradise for fostering evil spirits.
His greatest goal was to find a ghost spirit and use its special efficacy to break through his own realm!
At that time, he did everything and anything in order to meet the consumption needs of fostering ghosts. Like now, his main occupation was a ghost manipulator, but his concurrent post was the head of an assassin organization.
Then, one day as he was searching for treasures, he incidentally found a paradise very suited for fostering ghosts—a place called Ghost Lamp Temple. More importantly, Ghost Lamp Temple had another ghost spirit; he was wild with joy!
[This isn’t a dream?] Song Shuhang came to realize the instant Ghost Lamp Temple appeared. Could it be Altar Master’s memories?
Ghost Lamp Temple, Luo Xin street area! The ghost cultivator in the dream, was ‘he’ Altar Master? Why the heck did he dream of Altar Master? Song Shuhang felt doubtful.
The dream continued, the ‘he’ in the dream after exploring Ghost Lamp Temple again was utterly disappointed.
Because ‘he’ came one step late, Ghost Lamp Temple had been bought by someone, and a trapping formation had been arranged there. It took one glance to realize an expert had set the seal, but ‘he’ didn’t dare to destroy it in fear of attracting the expert who might kill him in retaliation.
However, in front of a paradise for fostering ghosts, how could he not waver?
Ghost spirit, this was a ghost spirit!
He couldn’t personally destroy the formation, but he could make use of others, finding a scapegoat to do it in his stead. The formation that trapped the ghost spirit was exquisite, but he only needed to find the formation’s eye to be able to destroy it!
By using others to destroy the formation, if the expert appeared, the anger would only fall on the scapegoat!
Thus, ‘he’ transformed into a feng shui master and, by all means possible, he guided and incited the original landlord Huang Dagen to demolish Ghost Lamp Temple and build a tomb in its place.
Huang Dagen had already harbored such thoughts, and on top of the encouragement, he was even more motivated to do so. The two hit it off, and in the next year, Huang Dagen demolished Ghost Lamp Temple and built a large tomb for himself.
Ghost Lamp Temple was destroyed, and the tomb was built.
Under ‘his’ directions as a fake feng shui master, Huang Dagen carried his own tombstone to the tomb, and erected it at a ‘feng shui treasure spot,’ which was the formation’s eye ‘he’ toilsomely found.
Once the tombstone was erected, the mysterious expert’s first layer of trapping formation was instantly destroyed. The ghost spirit inside Ghost Lamp Temple rushed out wailing and sucked all of Huang Dagen’s blood and qi.
Huang Dagen did not die immediately after his blood was sucked dry, he only felt that his body was weakened. He returned home with a serious illness and died seven days later.
The ghost spirit that sucked Huang Dagen dry did not leave, but returned to its original location instead.
‘He’ had set up a layer of sealing boundary formation. However, whenever the formation was attacked, the expensive materials ‘he’ used to arrange it would deteriorate and eventually be used up. To his joy, the ghost spirit didn’t charge at the formation on its way back, saving him from the additional expenses.
When the expert’s formation was destroyed, ‘he’ did not rush to subdue the ghost spirit.
On one hand, he was worried the expert would immediately come.
On the other hand, the ghost spirit wasn’t mature, and needed to be nurtured for a while longer in the ghost paradise.
The events that followed were something all of the people in Luo Xin street area knew of. Huang Dagen’s family cried all the way and buried his corpse in the tomb.
This act incurred the wrath of the ghost spirit again!
The ghost spirit took advantage of Huang Dagen’s family as they cried. It wandered around and sucked most of their qi and blood. When Huang Dagen’s family returned home, they got sick one after the other.
One year later, the entire family was buried in that tomb.
Perhaps the ghost spirit was temporarily satiated after absorbing so much qi and blood. After all, the people who attended the burial afterwards escaped disaster.
In the years that followed, ‘he’ took residence in Luo Xin street area, guarding Huang Dagen’s tomb and observing the ghost spirit’s growth.
Once he dreamt of this, Song Shuhang was puzzled. When the formation was destroyed, why didn’t Altar Master take the ghost spirit after it had matured?
What happened afterwards?
