Contracted Bride Is Trapped By Her Husband - Chapter 117
Chapter 117 Saying Good Things
Luke pushed the flash drive towards Jocelyn.
At the thought of Aren, who was still angry in the ward, Luke added, “Actually, Master Aren cares a lot about Miss Jocelyn. He just acts a little coldly.”
“The moment he knew that rumor about Miss Jocelyn was spreading online, Master Aren ordered me to find related evidence and find the person behind it.”
“I have served Master Aren for many years, but I have never seen him care so much about someone.”
“Master Aren is really a very good person. I hope that Miss Jocelyn can always be with him.”
Luke spoke very sincerely. He had always been busy helping Aren solve business related things, so when it came to relationships, he was still a beginner.
He knew that he couldn’t say anything convincing and touching, so he could only open his heart and use his sincerity to move Jocelyn. Jocelyn was indeed grateful that Aren was helping her investigate, but she still couldn’t forget what Aren had said at the dining table.
At the thought of that cold tone and gaze, the gratitude in Jocelyn’s heart disappeared.
“Then I guess Mr. Luke doesn’t know Aren that well. Aren helped me in exchange for something.”
Jocelyn spoke word “exchange” with sarcasm.
Her gaze landed on Luke, but it was as if she was looking at someone else through him.
“It’s getting late. Since you’ve delivered the thing, have a good day, Mr. Luke,” Jocelyn asked Luke to leave.
Luke’s existence would only remind Jocelyn again and again how pathetic she had been in front of Aren.
Jocelyn even felt that the places on her body that Aren had touched before were starting to itch.
She needed a shower to wash away the smell Aren had left on her.
Jocelyn suddenly stood up from her seat. Without caring if Luke left, she turned around and returned to her room, leaving Luke and Eliza on the sofa in the living room. Looking at Jocelyn’s reaction, Luke was confused. He did not know what he had just said wrong. Thinking back, he knew that he was indeed speaking up for Aren every time he spoke, but he did not exaggerate anything. He did not think that his words would disgust Miss Jocelyn. Luke was more willing to believe that Aren had done something to Miss Jocelyn that made her so angry. That was why Miss Jocelyn reacted so strong whenever she heard him mention Aren.
Luke, who had guessed the truth again, started to worry for Aren.
“The Jocelyn I know has always been a polite and very well-mannered girl. I have never seen her do such a rude thing, so it is not so hard to guess how much damage Aren has done to her.”
Eliza crossed her arms and looked at Luke coldly.
“Maybe you’re not wrong, but since you’re Aren’s assistant. I can’t keep you here any longer. Please leave.”
“Until Jocelyn forgives Aren, our family doesn’t welcome anyone from the Brown family.”
“Butler Sophia, please send him out.”
With that, Eliza glared at Luke fiercely. She took the flash drive on the table and walked towards Jocelyn’s room. Sophia walked up to Luke and gestured for him to follow her.
For the first time in his life, Luke felt like he was being chased away. He sighed deeply and walked out of Stephen’s house.
Looking at the door that closed in front of him, Luke shook his head.
He dared to say that he was the most qualified assistant in New York.
No assistant would be as hardworking as him. Besides helping his master settle his work matters, he would also help his master deal with his relationship matters. Although the result seemed to be different from what he imagined. But Luke believed that his words must have worked. After Miss Jocelyn and Aren reconciled, he hoped that the two of them would remember him.
Of course, it would be even better if he could get a salary increase.
With a straught face, Luke returned to his car. He rested for a while in the car before he started the car and headed back to the hospital.
Jocelyn left the living room and locked herself in the bathroom.
She turned on the shower head in the bathroom, and the cold water instantly wetted her hair and clothes.
