Contracted Bride Is Trapped By Her Husband - Chapter 105
Chapter 105 Exchanging Questions
Keller turned solemn when Susan kept pestering him with questions.
He looked at Susan expressionlessly, making Susan not dare to ask anymore. She looked a little embarrassed.
“I don’t mean anything. I’m just concerned about the two of them.”
“You should know that they are truly in love. It’s just that Diana had to pursue her career. But it won’t happen again. Diana will stay in New York for Aren.”
“As friends, shouldn’t we help them now?”
“Keller, you’re Aren’s best friend. I think you want him to be happy too, don’t you?”
Susan stared at Keller, hoping that he could see the sincerity in her eyes and that her words would move him.
She really wanted Diana to be happy. Moreover, Diana was such a beautiful girl, and only Aren was worthy of standing beside her.
Unfortunately, her words did not move Keller. He still maintained his previous expression.
“Maybe you have a good idea, but I hope you can remember that Aren already has a fiancée,” Keller reminded Susan.
But when Susan heard Keller’s words, she felt that it was absurd and even laughed at him.
“Aren’s fiancée?” Susan raised her voice as if she had just heard a joke. She started laughing.
The way she raised her eyebrows and the sarcasm in her eyes made her look very mean. It also made Keller frown in displeasure.
“I’ve already looked into Aren’s fiancée. She’s just an unloved daughter of a poor family. What right does she have to be Aren’s fiancée?”
“Diana is an internationally-renowned violinist. She doesn’t lack looks, figure, or family background, but what does that fiancée have? Apart from a face that looks barely passable, is there anything else she has?”
“Oh, right. She’s also a fashion designer. But so what? She’s just an intern with no decent work. She’s just a nobody in the design world.” “Do you want Aren to spend the rest of his life with such a person? What kind of things do they have in common?”
At the mention of Jocelyn, Susan frowned in disgust.
She really did not understand why Aren’s taste became so terrible. Yes, Susan did not think that Aren liked Jocelyn. Compared with this possibility, she believed that there must be some secret between Aren and Jocelyn that no one knew about. And this secret prompted Aren to recognize Jocelyn as his fiancée in public.
However, Keller started to doubt whether his friendship with Susan was worth continuing. “What do you think love is?”
Instead of answering Susan’s question, Keller raised his own.
Susan, who was fully prepared to persuade, was caught off guard by this sudden question. While Susan was still in confusion, Keller continued, “Do you really think love can only be based on look, figure, and family background?”
“What you regarded as important has to be important for Aren as well?”
Keller asked three questions in a row, which immediately shut up Susan.
“But-“
“But what?” Keller pressed.
Suddenly, Susan became the one who kept defending while Keller was attacking.
Looking at Keller’s expressionless face, Susan bit her lower lip.
Then she said, “But that Jocelyn had no business with Aren at all before. The two of them are not in love. It must be that Jocelyn knows some secret and is using it to threaten Aren. That’s why Aren admitted to being his fiancée in public, but Aren actually doesn’t love her at all.”
“If Aren really loved her, why didn’t he mention her or even introduce her to his friends after he announced their engagement that day?”
“Isn’t that enough to explain something?” Susan’s voice grew louder and louder, and she became more and more confident. At the end of her speech, she looked at Keller fiercely, wanting to see how Keller would react to that.
