Chapter 144 Lady From Rong Mansion
Jiang Min forced a smile, then she pushed down the maid who was cleaning oil stain on her clothes, venting her grievance out on her.
Being used to her brutal treatment, the maid stepped back without saying anything.
Gu Qiang was also simmering with rage, then she saw Prime Minister Gu and Ye leading some courtiers here to congratulate her. Also seeing their coming, Jiang Min stood up and complained, “Zhizhang, come here and take a look. Gu Qiang just shouted at me, was she angry?”
Ye glanced over them all and found everyone was looking at her.
She hadn’t got any attention since everyone learned that Gu Zhihua had been given cold shoulder by the Third Prince ever since they got married. Now, why were they looking at her?
“What’s the problem with that? As an Infanta, she has the right to scold anyone she dislikes,” said Prime Minister Gu authoritatively, his beard quivered.
Prime Minister knew Jiang Min was not a good person, he just hadn’t got time to deal with her. Therefore today, he didn’t mind seeing her lose face in front of so many guests.
Not expecting her brother-in-law was not on her side, Jiang Min now felt more embarrassed. “However, I am still her senior no matter what title she’s got, and I deserve to be respected. Are the women in your family all have no manners? Now I understand why Gu Zhiyan behaved so badly after she married.”
Her words didn’t escape Gu Zhiyan’s ears though she was already far away in the corner. Still wearing those filthy clothes, she just turned back her head and wiped her tears.
Holding her arms, Ting Feng got out a handkerchief from her pocket and handed it to her. “Lady Zhiyan, how are you these days?” she asked gently.
After she finished her words, they arrived at Qingshui House. It was quiet everywhere, and suddenly, Gu Zhiyan fell onto the ground and burst into tears; she cried so hard that her body convulsed, and her crying contrasted greatly to the dead silence of the night.
On a jubilant day like this, Ting Feng should have asked her not to do this; instead, she squatted, and held her into her arms, patting her in the back and saying nothing.
As the third daughter of Prime Minister Gu, Gu Zhiyan had never had a good life. She was nearly invisible during her days living in the Mansion, and Prime Minister Gu even didn’t know her existence. It was said that her mother, the third mistress, was also not someone seeking attention.
Feeling strange, Gu Qiang chewed Jiang Min’s words for a minute and found out that Gu Zhiyan sounded to be Gu Zhihua’s sister, and she was criticized as being impolite by Jiang Min just now.
Then she was also a sister of her.
With these thoughts flashing in her mind, she raised her hand abruptly and overthrew the table that was already in a mess. She was so quick that Jiang Min didn’t even have time to dodge; all food and drinks were splashed on her.
Screaming hardly, she shut her eyes and jumped everywhere like she was mad. All people around stepped back to avoid being hit, so as Prime Minister Gu and Ye, covering their noses with hands.
What surprised them more was that how could a skinny girl like Gu Qiang be able to overturn the table?
When she came back to her senses, Jiang Min noticed that she was surrounded by guests who were here to congratulate Gu Qiang on her marriage with Shen Qianshan. She had thought it was a good chance to spill the tea, and now it came true.
“What are you doing! Take a look at yourself! You are no different from your pathetic mother!” Jiang Min yelled at her as if she had gone crazy. All people around gasped.
Although Infanta Luoping had never expressed her missing for her mother, it wouldn’t be appropriate for anyone to slander her late mother in public. How could Gu Qiang forgive her for doing this?
Like they had expected, Gu Qiang remained as calm as ever; she gave Gusu Liang a nod, who jumped into the air and kicked Jiang Min with all her strength. As a middle-aged woman with poor health, Jiang Min couldn’t resist it and fell onto the ground, her blood boiling.
The next second, Gu Qiang walked past the chairs and tables and jumped straight to her. She slapped twice in her face, feeling quite disgusted as her face was greasy.
All people at present couldn’t help holding their breath, amazed at what was going on.
Gu Qing beat her aunt on the day of her engagement. Although Jiang Min was only Jiang Rou’s half-sister, they still shared the same blood, and Gu Qiang should have at least pay her some respect. But today, Jiang Min lost it all.
After this day, everyone in the capital would know how she, the first lady from Rong Mansion, had been humiliated by Gu Qiang. But in the eyes of people with common sense, Jiang Min asked for it herself as she failed to watch her tongue.
“Watch your tongue! Or it will get you killed one day!” said Gu Qiang as she drew close to her, with fire burning in her eyes. Then she got up slowly and said to all the guests in a cold voice, “Thank you for coming, everyone. I will forever remember your kindness. But now, it’s time to leave.”
As Gu Qiang had shown them the door, the guests started to leave, though unwillingly, because many of them still hadn’t enjoyed enough of the drama.
Finally coming around, Prime Minister Gu cleared his throat and said, “Take Lady Jiang to have a rest, we will see to it tomorrow.”
Then he left as quick as a wisp of smoke.
Jiang Min got so angry that she lay stiff on the ground, her eyes rolled like she was dead.
Soon, everybody scattered away like birds and animals.
Before she left, Gu Qiang glanced back at Jiang Min, a strong sense of curiosity rising in her heart. Why would Jiang Min be so mean to her? It must be because of her mother. Then what kind of person her mother had been? And why had she died?
She felt like standing on the edge of a widespread web; she could have just walked past it directly with her eyes shut, avoiding getting trapped, but her mother popped into her mind at this moment.
Had her mother died because of the countless humiliation brought by Jiang Min and Ye, she must haven’t obtained much love from Prime Minister Gu. She should have found it out earlier, Gu Qiang thought.
There were still many things to be figured out before she got married.
When she arrived at Qingshui House, she was surprised to find that it was still dark inside, with no lights lit.
Hadn’t Ting Feng taken Gu Zhiyan back already? Why were they not here in the house?
Several steps forward, she found the two girls squatting in a corner, eavesdropping.
Noticing Gu Qiang and Gusu Liang’s coming, Ting Feng tried so hard to suppress her urge to let out any sound; she waved her hand, asking them to join her.
Ting Feng was never a person who liked to fuss things up, so there must be someone inside the house.
Only four girls lived here in the Qingshui House. Now that they were all outside in the yard, there was only one left, Chui Xue. Where was she?
Gu Qiang and Gusu Liang squatted down; before they held their breaths, sounds of heavy panting and moaning from the maids’ room reached their ears.
Gu Qiang’s face quickly went red; although she hadn’t got married, she knew what was happening inside.
By the window, the bed of Ting Feng and Chui Xue were rattling rhythmically. Shapes were moving, with heavy breaths of woman and deep growling of man echoing in the empty room.
Even Gusu Liang, a childish and naive girl, understood what was going on. “My lady, are we going to catch them in the act?” she mouthed to Gu Qiang in silence.
Ting Feng looked upset, which was quite understandable. Anyone would feel disgusted when seeing her own bed being used by others for things like this. Fortunately, her senses were still with her so that she didn’t complain.
Gu Qiang hesitated. Shall they go in and interrupt them? What if the man was shocked into impotency by their sudden appearance? She doubted she could be responsible for that.
But Qingshui House had always been a clean and quiet place; nobody had ever committed such indecency here before. Making up her mind with great embarrassment, Gu Qiang rose abruptly; after several deep breaths, she gave Gusu Liang a signal and kicked the door open.
Ting Feng lit on an oil lamp, and walked into the room, with Gu Zhiyan wiping her tears following behind.
Shocked by the slamming door, people inside suddenly fell into silence. Then there was a clatter as though someone had fallen onto the ground.
With their feet still outside the door, Gu Zhiyan and Ting Feng looked back and saw a man flee out of the window, whose naked body was quite obvious even under the dim light in the yard.
Quickly shutting their eyes out of instinct, the two girls screamed simultaneously.
Gusu Liang and Gu Qiang turned around; the door of the west room was opened, and Chui Xue walked out, still sloppily dressed. She suppressed a smile, and said in a low voice, “My lady, is there anything you want to eat? I will soon get them ready.” Then she quickly left for the kitchen in the backyard.
When she walked past them, the four girls standing stunned at the door all sensed a disgusting and pungent smell exuded from her but couldn’t tell what that was.
Still in great embarrassment, Ting Feng got inside her room, daring not to look at her bed, which was no doubt a mess.
Gu Qiang took a seat in the living room; even tea couldn’t stop her from sighing. Finally, she spoke up, “It seemed we need to find another place to live.”
Hearing this, Gusu Liang sitting beside her spat out her tea out and burst into laughter.
At this moment, Gu Zhiyan finished her cleaning; she walked out of the bedroom, wearing Gu Qiang’s clothes, looking prettier and gentler.
After bidding Gu Qiang a courtesy, she took her seat but cried again before she could find any words to say.
