Coming Kingly Son-in-Law: Don't Provoke the First Daughter - Chapter 104
Chapter 104 Who Did It
Seeing Gu Zhihua being so stubborn, Prime Minister Gu, teeth gritted, finally said, “Zhihua, you’ve chosen this road. No matter what happens in the future, you have to stick to it. Also, this is your last chance. You still have a long way to go. No matter what Shen Zhongbai does to you, you’ll never be free again.”
After saying that, he walked to Ye and stared at her coldly, as if he wanted to say something. At last, he didn’t say anything and only looked at her with a disappointed look.
Ye flinched a bit. So many things had happened in this family. Prime Minister Gu hadn’t had the time to tell the emperor on Shen Zhongbai for the insult the latter had brought to the Gu’s family last time, and now something like this had happened to this family. Ye knew that Prime Minister Gu must have gone mad now, because Shen Zhongbai had been provoking the Gu’s family even at a moment like this.
To be honest, Ye didn’t know what she had done wrong to offend Shen Zhongbai. She didn’t know why he just couldn’t accept Gu Zhihua.
Prime Minister Gu had wanted to scold Ye who had been the main reason for Gu Zhihua’s situation now. However, there were so many things happening in the Gu family today. Also, Prime Minister Gu had no other partners except for Ye. So he had to take care of her feelings.
In the morning, Gu Huai’an who had been hurried on the journey finally arrived with a few guys. He went straight to Gu Qiang’s yard through the front door. The pageboy tried to stop him first and then realized that he was the young master of this family, so the boy just let them in. The pageboy had thought that Gu Huai’an had come back to mourn the Old Lady, but it seemed that he didn’t care about her death at all.
The yard was quiet. The quietness in this place made people feel kind of comfortable.
As for the other places in this mansion, there seemed to be a power struggle beneath the silence. Although everyone tried their best to lower their voices, Gu Qiang still felt that her head was about to blow off.
As Gu Huai’an entered her yard with those guys, Gu Qiang was sitting in the yard. Gusu Liang was peeling fruit for her, and she seemed to be enjoying eating it.
Seeing so many guys standing in front of her, Gu Qiang frowned and put on a long face, saying coldly, “Who are you? Why did you break into my yard?”
Gu Huai’an stood frozen. He had assumed that Shen Qianshan had lied about Gu Qiang’s condition and that at least she wouldn’t forget everything. However, with his medical skills, he knew that the drug which Gu Qiang had been forced to take in might be very strong and had already affected her brain.
Gu Huai’an squatted down in front of Gu Qiang and put his hand on hers, saying concernedly, “Qiang, I’m your brother.”
After that, he turned around and gestured to those guys with his jaw. Then they all walked over to take Gu Qiang’s pulse.
Ever since she had woken up, she had run into a lot of strange things and people.
When Shen Qianshan had left, he had warned her to guard against Ye and Gu Zhihua and said that she could trust all the other people.
Shen Qianshan seemed to have some urgent business to deal with and left in a hurry. He didn’t even have the time to explain the things which Gu Qiang wanted to know.
The people Gu Huai’an had brought there were of different ages. The younger ones were at the same age of Gu Qiang and the older ones were around fifties. They stepped forward to take Gu Qiang’s pulse in turn. At last, they all shook their heads and stepped back.
“What’s wrong? Is it serious?” Gu Huai’an asked anxiously.
They all shook their heads helplessly. An old man said respectfully, “Young Master Gu, you know that Infanta Luoping has taken in too much of the drug. The one who drugged her had a clear purpose. If Infanta Luoping couldn’t take the right medicine, her memory might not recover forever.”
“What’s so bad to lose my memory? The past is the past. Since God made me forget everything, I should thank God, shouldn’t I?” Gu Qiang threw the seed shells on the ground randomly and said that. Gusu Liang and Ting Feng who were standing beside her looked at each other with so many emotions in their eyes, but they both kept silent unanimously.
If she hadn’t lost her memory, her life would be great now. She had had a purpose and known what she wanted. She never knew how splendid and enviable she looked when she chased after her dream.
However, now Gu Qiang had the right to choose another life. She could choose to live a cozy life, because that was something everyone wanted. Even if she was already in a high position, it was not wrong to pursue a simple life. As long as she decided to let it go, everything in her life would become simple.
Ting Feng and Gusu Liang had no right to judge Gu Qiang’s choice since they were just her maids. However, when they looked at Gu Huai’an, they realized that a lot of people in this world couldn’t accept Gu Qiang’s change.
“No, Qiang, we were born in this world because we all have our special missions. We have to fulfill our destiny so that our life could have a meaning.” Gu Huai’an said slowly with a calm voice, sounding either anxious or indignant. However, his words were very convincing.
Gu Qiang stared at him coldly as if she was thinking if his words were right.
After a long silence, Gu Qiang sighed and turned to the old man, asking, “Is there a way to let me recover my memories?”
The elders should have more experience and knowledge. So Gu Qiang assumed that he might have a solution.
As she expected, after the old man lowered his head and pondered for a while, he said to Gu Huai’an, “Young Master Gu, do you know which drug Infanta Luoping has taken?”
Gu Huai’an was a master of medicine. After he thought about it with his eyebrows knitted, he said cautiously, “I don’t know what kind of drug that is, but I know who did it.”
Who did it? Everyone looked at Gu Huai’an, including Gu Qiang who seemed not to care about that. She wanted to know why she ended up like this. She was just curious about what kind of a person she had used to be. As for the one who hurt her, she didn’t seem to care.
No matter what the truth was, she still had a life to live.
The elder looked at Gu Huai’an in silence. The latter was walking around in Gu Qiang’s room. Then, he waved his hand to call these guys over and said something in a low voice. The group of people seemed a bit surprised and then dispersed.
Gu Huai’an turned to Gu Qiang and chuckled, “I’m no longer a member of this family. Old Lady has just passed away, so I shouldn’t throw cold water on the Gu’s family. But you were hurt, I need an explanation for that.”
After that, he stood up and wanted to leave but was pulled back by Gu Qiang. She raised her head and said in a cold voice, “This is my own business. Since you are not one of the Gu’s, why couldn’t you stay out of it?”
At that moment, Gu Huai’an seemed to see his little sister who always thought for him coming back.
She used to be so powerful and had often tried her best to protect him. Now she had forgotten everything, including her love and care for him. She was like a messenger who lost the address halfway, wandering on the endless road. Even though she knew that someone was waiting for her and expecting her to go back, she still couldn’t do anything and only felt hesitant, helpless and sad.
Now she really needed someone to tell her what she should do and how to do it, but she also wanted to live her life at a slow pace and didn’t want anyone to disturb her.
Gu Huai’an took Gu Qiang’s hand off his arm and said grinningly in a gentle voice, “Don’t worry. You are the most important one to me in this world. No one matters more than you. I only care about you in this world and I’ll do my best to protect you.”
Gu Qiang’s heart jolted. She was glad that she had a brother. Still, she could only blame herself for what had happened to her.
That night, after Gu Qiang finished dinner, she sat by the window, seeming to be immersed in her thoughts. Around her was only a solemn stillness. Then, all of a sudden, it rained heavily. The lightning flashed across the sky, ripping through the beautiful night sky which was covered with twinkling stars. She, being stunned, felt that she was forgetting something but she just didn’t know what that was.
While it was still raining cats and dogs, Gusu Liang rushed into the room. As she brushed the raindrops off her, there was a pool of water slowly stretching over the wooden floor in the main room. She rushed to Gu Qiang and said shyly, “My lady, someone wants to see you in the yard.”
Gu Qiang turned her head, still wearing that indifferent look. After what had happened to her, everything or everyone was new to her.
“Then let him in.” Gu Qiang smiled. The lightning flashed again as expected. In the dim room, the smile on her pale face looked a bit gruesome.
Gusu Liang shrank her neck. Then she looked at Gu Qiang with an awkward look in her eyes and still said in a bashful voice, “But my lady, that’s Shen Zhongbai, the Third Prince.”
That man? Gu Qiang raised her eyebrows. The man who had married her sister and the most popular prostitute came to see her?
After she had woken up, she had encountered this man more than once. Gu Qiang couldn’t help wondering if she and this man had had a special relationship before.
To be honest, she still hoped that she had led a simple and innocent life before. She wanted to stay away from the love affairs because she knew how important a girl’s chastity was.
“Did he say why he came to me?” Gu Qiang took back her eyes and turned to look at the heavy rain. As the next lightning flashed again, she saw a man in light blue clothes holding an oil-paper umbrella in the yard by the light. He had been standing there quietly with a calm look. However, at that moment, he suddenly turned around to look at Gu Qiang and smiled at her.
The man was handsome with an aura of elegance, which suited the first impression she had for him. She could even tell that he was from a royal family.
“He said that you made the wrong choice. The man you have chosen is being with another woman now. He wants to bring you there so that you’ll know that man doesn’t deserve you.” Gusu Liang said that while resisting the urge to slap her own face.
