Cinderella Innocent and Boss Charming - Chapter 94
Chapter 94 I Just Want to Change into Another Way of Living
When Shao Boqing rang the doorbell, Nina was sleeping like a log. She thought it was the alarm clock, so she fumbled her hand to the bedside table with her eyes closed and pressed the button at random. But the noise still kept coming. She threw the alarm clock out angrily. The metal shell fell to the ground and made a loud sound. Only then did Nina wake up slightly and half opened her eyes.
The noise stopped. Nina looked at the alarm clock on the ground and frowned in confusion. She didn’t set the alarm clock yesterday. Why did it still ring? However, since it had stopped, she could continue sleeping.
However, only two seconds after she closed her eyes, the bell rang again. This time Nina could tell that someone was ringing the doorbell. She buried her head under the pillow and tried to pretend that there was no one in the room, but the person standing outside was very persistent. That person would press the doorbell a few times, then stopped, and then pressed it again. In the end, this person even began to beat on the door. “Bang, bang, bang! Bang, bang, bang!”
Nina was so angry that she jumped out of bed and shouted, “Stop! Stop! Stop knocking! There’s no one in the room!”
She angrily opened the door and saw Shao Boqing’s smiling face. Shao Boqing said, “There’s no one in the room? Then what are you?”
Nina smiled and fixed her messy hair a bit. She looked quite like a crazy woman with that hairstyle. “Boss Shao, is there anything wrong?”
Shao Boqing glanced at Nina’s slip dress and said, “Do you think it’s proper to stand at the door and talk to me like this?”
Nina threw a charming glance at him. “Why do you say that? Don’t I have the figure to show off?” Although she said so, she still let Shao Boqing in.
“It’s early in the morning, Boss Shao, you came to disturb my sweet dreams. Is that proper?”
“Early in the morning?” Shao Boqing laughed and turned to look out the window. “The sun is shining high in the sky, and it’s almost ten o’clock, Young Miss!”
Nina crossed her arms and continued to smile charmingly. “It is early morning for us unemployed vagrants!”
Shao Boqing had suppressed his anger and forced a smile on his face. At this time, he finally heard her get to the point, so he stopped pretending. He took out the resignation letter from his pocket and threw it on the table. “Unemployed vagrant? Who approved it?”
Nina lowered her head and remained silent. When Shao Boqing was really angry, she was still somewhat afraid.
Shao Boqing sat down angrily and looked up at her. “Put on some clothes. Don’t catch a cold. Let’s talk.”
Nina quietly entered the inner room, washing and dressing for a while before coming out. Her hair was neatly combed and casually draped over her shoulders. She wore light blue jeans with a loose wine red sweater on it. It was completely different from her usual style. She looked neither showy nor sexy, but like a new graduate.
She had just gotten out of bed with a little bit of laziness. Her face without makeup was as clean as a cooked egg that had been shelled. She lowered her head and kept her long eyelashes down like a small brush. This was the first time Shao Boqing had seen her face without makeup, and it was also the first time he had seen her in such an obedient manner. He was quite not used to it.
When he opened his mouth again, his voice and tone somehow softened, “Why did you resign?”
“I’m tired. I want to rest,” Nina said calmly.
“If you want to rest, I can give you days off as many as you want. Why did you resign?” Shao Boqing paused for a moment and then asked again, “When was this letter placed on my desk? It wasn’t there when I got off work last Friday, and it’s even more impossible today. So when was it?”
“Saturday night.” Nina was very calm and honest. She had nothing to hide.
“You really did that.” Shao Boqing almost sneered. “Was it after the engagement banquet? You played a diligent female secretary at the banquet and then handed over your resignation letter at the end of it. How could you act so well? So calm? Do you want to ask for something, a raise or a promotion?”
Nina shook her head. “I just want to change into another way of living.”
“Is the Gu Group not big enough for you? Can’t it offer you a position? Or do you think that the position of secretary of the general manager is too low? Do you want me to promote you as an executive deputy general manager?”
Nina lowered her head and remained silent. Her long and dense eyelashes covered her eyes. Shao Boqing could not see her expression clearly. After a moment of silence, he said casually, “Just pretend I haven’t received any resignation letter. I’ll give you a few days off and come back to work when you’re rested.”
Nina raised her head and smiled calmly. She looked at him with a firm gaze. Shao Boqing knew what that meant, but he had already asked her to go back with such a humble attitude. She did not hesitate at all. Shao Boqing was a little embarrassed and roared, “Are you really going to resign? Think carefully! I won’t give you a second chance! Don’t think that without you, Gu Group won’t be able to continue running. Countless people outside are competing fiercely to get a chance to work for Gu Group. When you’re gone, you just happen to make room for the newbies. The company will be able to exchange for some new employees just in time. Don’t you regret it then! ”
He roared sharply, but Nina only looked at him calmly and said in a very soft but firm voice, “I’ve already made up my mind.”
“Good, very good.” Shao Boqing nodded and sneered. Suddenly, he saw the large carton in the room. His smile faded. “Are you leaving G City?”
Nina nodded.
“Where are you going?”
“I haven’t decided yet,” Nina smiled and said, “the world is big. There must be a place for me!”
Shao Boqing looked at her suspiciously. “What exactly happened to you? Did you encounter any difficulties? Tell me, as long as I can help you, I will help you.”
“I’m fine,” Nina said seriously, “I just want to change into another way of living and start a new life in an unfamiliar city.”
“You don’t need to reconsider it?”
Nina shook her head. “It is a decision I’ve made after careful consideration.”
“Since you’ve already made your decision, why didn’t you say it earlier? Why did you leave without saying goodbye?”
“I was afraid that you wouldn’t let me go!” Nina said and grinned cheekily.
Shao Boqing said, “Now you think I’ll let you go? For an employee like you who have quitted your job in such a hurry will be deducted your salary. Aren’t you going to want your salary last month?”
Nina continued to grin cheekily. “For the sake of all these years’ hard work, Boss Shao, you will give the salary to me, won’t you?”
“No one can break the rules of the company, neither can I.”
“Alright,” Nina said helplessly, “if I won’t get it, then be it. After all, I broke the rules first.”
Seeing that he could not convince Nina no matter what, Shao Boqing was helpless. In the end, he had no choice but to stand up and stretch out his hand towards her. “Alright, since you have decided to leave, I wish you all the best and good luck. Take care of yourself.” Shao Boqing said the last few words a little sadly. He smiled and continued, “Well, when you succeed, remember to come back and treat me to dinner.”
“Alright, sure,” Nina smiled and said, “Boss Shao, you should take care of yourself as well. Also, I might not be able to come when you get married. I wish you happiness in advance.”
Shao Boqing shook her hand twice more before letting go. He smiled and said, “You should also find a boyfriend quickly. Settle down. It’s not good to keep hanging out like this. I’ve already corrected myself. You should also do your best.”
“Yes, I will.”
Shao Boqing fell silent for a moment. He felt as if he had said everything he needed to say. He stood up and said, “I’m leaving.” Then, he turned around and slowly walked towards the door.
“Boss,” Nina suddenly called out to him.
Shao Boqing’s footsteps paused. He turned around to look at her. Nina walked over with a faint smile on her face. “For the sake of our five-year friendship, let’s officially hug each other and say goodbye.”
Shao Boqing was not a nostalgic person, but after all, they had gotten along for five years and Nina was personally trained by him. Hearing this, he felt an irritating and sad sensation in his heart. He smiled and spread his arms to hug his former secretary.
Nina had just gotten up, and she smelled refreshing without any other fragrance, unlike any woman he had ever hugged before.
When Nina pounced into his embrace, she was tiptoeing, and her chin happened to rest on Shao Boqing’s shoulder. She stuck her head tightly against his neck, and she could feel the beating of his pulse. A faint smell of tobacco enveloped her. Nina sighed softly. It turned out that this was the feeling of being embraced by him.
Finally, they separated. Shao Boqing waved his hand at her and left without saying a word.
Nina looked at the empty door and was stunned for a moment. She suddenly came to her senses and ran to the window of the inner room. She hid by the curtains and looked at Shao Boqing who was walking towards the car. Perhaps, this was their last meeting, right? After today, they would become strangers in the future, right? She was a little melancholy, but she was not regretful. In the end, she could hug him openly. She was already very satisfied.
Shao Boqing’s arrival was both unexpected and as expected. Actually, she could have finished packing up and left last night, but she decided to stall for a night. She wanted to see Shao Boqing’s reaction. Now, she saw that Shao Boqing still had some affection for her. Perhaps this affection was purely because of his habit and dependence on her, but it was already enough. She felt that it was already enough!
She waved her hand and smiled at the car that was rushing away. “Shao Boqing, I wish you all the best.” She let out a long sigh and clenched her fists to encourage herself, “Li Diandian, you will definitely be fine too!”
After returning to the office, Shao Boqing started his work today. Outside, there was a new secretary who had just been transferred. Seeing him enter the office, the new secretary quickly brought a cup of hot tea and sent it in.
Shao Boqing was reading the documents in his hand without lifting his eyelids. After a while, he casually picked up the tea and took a sip. As a result, the tea was so hot that he jumped up and threw the cup out.
When the new secretary heard the noise, she quickly ran to the door and took a look. Shao Boqing glared at her. “Do you want to scald me to death with such hot tea?”
The new secretary saw Boss Shao get angry for the first time and was so scared that her hands and feet were trembling. She kept apologizing, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
Shao Boqing snorted and flung his sleeves angrily to walk away.
Zhou Ting was the one who found him the new secretary, so he went to find Zhou Ting and shouted as soon as he arrived, “What secretary did you find for me? She didn’t have the slightest bit of cleverness and almost scalded me to death!”
Hearing that, Zhou Ting broke down. Shao Boqing had a habit of drinking the tea immediately after it was delivered to his hand. At first, when Nina served Shao Boqing a cup of tea, Shao Boqing was also scalded once. But he did not lose his temper. Later on, Nina would make the tea and put it away before bringing it to him when the temperature of the water reduced. Zhou Ting knew about this matter. She was busy today and forgot to tell the new secretary about that. Sure enough, something bad happened.
“Boss Shao, don’t be angry. It’s my fault. I didn’t tell her beforehand.” Zhou Ting smiled flatteringly. “You can keep the new secretary for two days first. If she really can’t do the job well, I’ll change another one for you.”
Shao Boqing was still angry, but since Secretary Zhou had talked to him with so much respect, he couldn’t just be unreasonable. Thus, he snorted coldly and went straight into Gu Nianbin’s office.
Zhou Ting patted her chest and gasped for breath. When General Manager Shao, who would always smile brightly, lost his temper, it turned out that it was unwise to provoke him. She sighed and cursed Nina in her heart.
