Cinderella Innocent and Boss Charming - Chapter 170
Chapter 170 I Want to Marry You
Gu Nianbin had promised earlier to spend the Spring Festival with Du Xiaoxian. Nevertheless, the little girl was sensible, so she tried to persuade Gu Nianbin to stay at the ancestral mansion. After all, it was the Spring Festival, and the whole family should reunite together!
“What about you? You will be all alone. Why don’t you come with me?” Gu Nianbin said.
Du Xiaoxian shook her head in fright, “No, no, I’m not alone. Sister Ah Ling will be with me, and I’ll call Brother Ah Yue over as well. There are three of us!”
Gu Nianbin thought for a moment and said, “Then I’ll come back after dinner and stay with you to welcome the new year.”
Since Gu Nianbin had compromised, Du Xiaoxian nodded and said, “You also need to set off fireworks with me.”
“Alright, let’s set off fireworks all night until dawn, okay?”
Gu Nianbin was just joking, but unexpectedly, Du Xiaoxian opened her eyes wide and said, “How much will that cost?”
Gu Nianbin looked at Du Xiaoxian’s silly expression and felt amused. He pinched her nose and said, “My little fool, such amount of fireworks won’t cost me a lot.”
“Yeah,” Du Xiaoxian said happily, “I forgot that you have countless money. Then it’s settled so pleasantly!”
Gu Nianbin laughed, “You’ve been staying with Zhou Ting for such a long time that your words have her flavor.”
Du Xiaoxian smiled embarrassedly, “It’s a pity that Sister Zhou has returned home for the Spring Festival. Otherwise, she can spend the Festival with me here.”
“Do you want her to come? I’ll call her right away,” Gu Nianbin pretended to make a call.
“Don’t!” Du Xiaoxian held his hand and said, “Sister Zhou has already returned home. It’s so far away, it’s not appropriate if you call her back, is it?”
What a little fool. She believed everything he said. Gu Nianbin rubbed the little girl’s hair and kissed her face with a smile.
Because the chef had asked for leave and returned home only a few days left before the Spring Festival, Gu Nianbin wanted to order a Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner outside for the little girl, but Du Xiaoxian refused. She said that she’d better cook dinner herself to create the atmosphere for the Spring Festival. So early in the morning on the New Year’s Eve, Ah Ling got up and began to prepare dinner. She put the food to be steamed in the steam pot, the food to be boiled in the boiling pot, washed the ones to be washed, and cut the ones to be cut. Although there were only three people who would have the dinner together, she had prepared everything that should be served on the dinner table of the Chinese New Year’s Eve.
Du Xiaoxian was thinking about the dinner preparation. She wanted to go downstairs early in the morning to help, but Gu Nianbin hugged her and stopped her from moving. He was going to the ancestral mansion later, and he wouldn’t return until night, but the little girl only cared about the dinner, which really made him dissatisfied. He bit her earlobe, and Du Xiaoxian felt really itchy. She giggled and twisted around in his embrace. Gu Nianbin was still sleepy, but her twisting around then got him quite turned on with burning blood. He rolled over and got her under him.
The little girl wanted to resist, but President Gu’s loving gaze told her: Resistance was in vain!
After making out in bed for a while, it was already eleven o’clock when the two of them finally got up. Du Xiaoxian blushed and chased after the man to hit him, “I told Sister Ah Ling that I would go to help, but I haven’t gone downstairs this late hour. Sister Ah Ling will definitely laugh at me!”
Gu Nianbin laughed and ran into the bathroom. Suddenly, he turned around and hugged the little girl, kissing her constantly. “Just let her laugh. Do you think she doesn’t know?”
“Know what?” Du Xiaoxian tried her best to dodge.
“Know what you were doing, of course!”
“Ah!” Du Xiaoxian was stunned. What she said just now meant that Ah Ling would laugh at her for sleeping late. However, Gu Nianbin had to make it so clear that she was getting even angrier and more embarrassed. She swung her small fist and smashed it at the man’s body.
Of course, she wouldn’t hit him too hard. Gu Nianbin felt just comfortable when her fist landed on him. He kissed on the little girl’s neck and left a bright red love mark there, then pointed it to show her, “If she can’t think of anything, she will know something when she sees this, right?”
“You!” Facing the man’s roguish actions, Du Xiaoxian was so angry that she stomped her feet. She actually didn’t dare to mess around before him anymore. She knew Gu Nianbin well. The more she was mischievous, the more he would make her feel embarrassed. Every time she was so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a hole in the ground and hide herself in it, while Gu Nianbin was watching her reaction with a smile on his face.
“Alright, baby, don’t be angry.” Gu Nianbin gently wrapped his arms around her and put his face close to her ear. “In this case, why don’t I have lunch with you before leaving? It can be considered as our New Year’s Eve dinner.”
When Du Xiaoxian was still pondering, Gu Nianbin said, “I can’t make it to lunch even if I’m going now. Do you want me to starve?”
Of course, Du Xiaoxian would not starve her young master, so it was settled like this.
When Ah Ling learned the news delivered by Du Xiaoxian, she was in a flurry. The thing was, Gu Nianbin had never had anything she cooked, and most importantly, the dishes were prepared for dinner. The plan was suddenly messed up, and she didn’t know where to start.
Du Xiaoxian also felt a little guilty. She helped Ah Ling in the kitchen with her face blushed. Gu Nianbin stood at the door and said, “There’s no need to prepare too many dishes. Just prepare some casual ones.” He waved his hand to beckon Du Xiaoxian out. Du Xiaoxian glared at him and turned around to face him her back side of her head.
Gu Nianbin was bored so he went to the courtyard to get some air. The weather was good today. The sun shone brightly, and there were two pots of double-petaled pomegranates on the stairs. At this moment, the flowers were in full bloom, and they were so red that they seemed to be about to burn.
Seeing him from afar, Xiaohei ran over and wagged its tail at him. The dog had grown up a lot. It was only an ordinary Chinese rural dog, but its fur was glossy and shone brightly under the sunshine because it was well fed.
Xiaohei looked at him with its two dark eyes, but did not dare to get too close. Its timid appearance was somewhat like Du Xiaoxian’s. Gu Nianbin smiled slightly and extended his hand. Xiaohei happily walked up to rub against his hand.
Following his whim, Gu Nianbin took a frisbee and played it with Xiaohei on the lawn. With a wave of his hand, the frisbee flew out in a whirl. Xiaohei was like a wild horse that had lost its reins, sprinting towards the frisbee. It jumped up, caught the frisbee with its mouth, then brought it back to him. Gu Nianbin fed the dog half a ham sausage as a reward. Xiaohei shook its head and was extremely excited. Gu Nianbin rarely treated it so well. Usually he would either ignore or scold it. It was rare for him to get along with it so happily. Xiaohei raised its forepaws and wanted to put them on Gu Nianbin. But Gu Nianbin raised his hand and threw the frisbee out again. Xiaohei hurriedly turned around and chased after it. When the dog ran fast, it almost flew into the air. Its slender body contracted in mid-air and then spread out like a shadow. It was clearly half a beat slower this time, but it still caught the frisbee before it landed.
Gu Nianbin was surprised at its fast speed. He simply took off his coat and rolled up his sleeves. He wanted to see how fast Xiaohei could reach. So he constantly changed his angles and deceived the dog with fake movements. Finally, Xiaohei missed one catch. Its expression looked somewhat depressed. Petting its head, Gu Nianbin laughed heartily and rewarded it with another ham sausage.
When Gu Nianbin sweated a bit, Du Xiaoxian came out to call him for dinner. He then went upstairs to take a shower before changing his clothes and coming down. Ah Ling and Du Xiaoxian had already served the dishes on the table.
There were ten dishes on the table, which implied the peak of perfection. According to the custom, the dishes included fish, which represented that the family had enough to spare every year, braised sliced pork belly with preserved vegetable, stewed whole chicken with golden silk dates, green cabbage soup, two-flavor hot pot, braised pork balls in gravy sauce, and some seasonal dishes. Various dishes spread over the table.
Du Xiaoxian asked Ah Ling to sit down and eat together with them. But Ah Ling didn’t dare to do that. She excused that there was still something to be done in the kitchen and she wasn’t hungry. Du Xiaoxian still tried to persuade her, but Gu Nianbin waved his hand and said, “Alright, if you insist on her sitting down, she will feel restrained. She’s been busy all morning and must be tired. Just go take a rest.”
“Yes,” Ah Ling responded and hurriedly walked away. It would indeed be very restrained for her to sit down and eat with Gu Nianbin. Furthermore, she could tell that Gu Nianbin did not want anyone to disturb the lovers’ world between him and Du Xiaoxian.
During the Spring Festival last year, Du Xiaoxian sat in her small house, eating the four big steamed buns and a small plate of eggs that her Second Aunt gave her. Although she had always been optimistic, it was after all the Spring Festival. As the poem goes, on festive occasions more than ever one thinks of one’s dear ones far away. Her house was old and shabby, and the cold wind howled outside. She had sat alone in the dim yellow light. Even the delicious big steamed buns had lost their good taste in her mouth.
This year, however, the table was filled with delicious dishes. The most important was that there was man sitting at the table who was gazing at her affectionately. Compared with last year, it was simply the difference between heaven and hell.
She picked up the small wine glass in front of her and said, “It’s New Year’s Eve. Can I have some wine?”
“Sure,” Gu Nianbin picked up a bottle of fruit wine and poured some for her. Then he poured some liquor for himself. “Xian’er, pick it up. Let’s have a toast!”
Du Xiaoxian held the small wine glass and gently clinked it against the man’s glass before she was about to drink. Gu Nianbin stopped her, “It’s a toast. Shouldn’t you say something?”
Du Xiaoxian widened her big dark eyes and said in a clear voice, “I wish you could have more money next year, brother!”
Gu Nianbin seemed to be a little disappointed and said, “Is that it?”
“And,” Du Xiaoxian thought for a moment, “I wish you good health and all the best!”
Gu Nianbin looked at her with affection, “You didn’t say the most important thing!”
The most important thing? Du Xiaoxian blinked and asked, “What is it?”
Gu Nianbin smiled and said, “I wish that we would be together forever, for the rest of our lives!”
Du Xiaoxian blushed and glanced at Gu Nianbin reproachfully. “Who says this during the Spring Festival? That’s the wishes when people get married!”
“Then, do you want to marry me?” Gu Nianbin asked her with a smile.
“I,” Du Xiaoxian lowered her head slightly and mumbled, “I’m too young to get married!”
“Don’t talk about that. I’m asking whether you want to?” Gu Nianbin raised her chin. His dark eyes flickered like stars, shining on her tiny face. Du Xiaoxian felt as if there were ten thousand butterflies in her stomach. She lowered her eyes and nodded shyly.
However, Gu Nianbin was not satisfied. She didn’t answer him when he asked her last time. This time, he wouldn’t let her muddle him up. He raised her chin a little higher. “Look into my eyes and say, you want to marry me!”
His eyes now looked like an ancient pond, deep and dark. She would drop into them if she was not careful. Du Xiaoxian’s heartbeat became even more intense. Her gaze dodged and she didn’t dare to look at him. Young Master was good on everything but he just loved to force her like this!
Gu Nianbin actually wanted to force her to reveal her truest thoughts.
“What? Are you not willing?” he asked in deep voice.
“Yes,” Du Xiaoxian blurted out as if it was because of conditioned reflex, “I want to marry you.” This sentence took all her courage. The last two words were almost inaudible, but Gu Nianbin could hear them clearly. A smile bloomed on his lips and his delight could be seen even in the bottom of his eyes. He lowered his head and kissed her deeply.
Du Xiaoxian still had two years left before she reached the legal age to get married, but Gu Nianbin couldn’t wait any longer. He kissed her eagerly and wished that he could take her to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register for marriage right away. Only when the little girl really took his surname would his life be considered to be truly complete.
