Cinderella Innocent and Boss Charming - Chapter 129
Chapter 129 We’ll Became Strangers from Now on
Du Xiaoxian woke up and found that Gu Nianbin had already gone out. She lay under the warm blanket which still had his body fragrance and lazily yawned before sitting up. Although the weather was perfect for sleeping late, Du Xiaoxian did not have the habit of laying around in bed. Feeling refreshed, she jumped out of bed, simply washed up and had some steamed creamy custard buns for breakfast.
She spent the morning in the painting room. As a girl who was always able to endure loneliness, she felt that time passed especially quickly when she was painting. Only when she felt hungry did she put down the brush. She looked at her paintings again, nodded in satisfaction and then went to the kitchen to make lunch.
Last night, Gu Nianbin cooked a full table of dishes, so they were many leftovers in the fridge which she could eat after heating up.
After lunch, Du Xiaoxian made a cup of hot tea, sat on the balcony and drank it slowly. It was noon, the sun shone brightly. She sat leisurely in her chair and looked at the towering skyscrapers in the distance. Perhaps she was a little tired in the afternoon, or perhaps the sun was too warm, she dozed after a while.
Du Xiaoxian felt that she must have gone crazy. How could she have such a dream? In the dream, she was hugging a man tightly, but it was not Gu Nianbin because that man didn’t have his body fragrance which she was familiar with. She wanted to push the man away, but her arms were tightly wrapped around him, as if she was afraid that he would run away. They were almost naked, and their breathing brought with it an ambiguous aura.
The room was brightly and beautifully lit with the exquisite carved-out wall lights and resplendent crystal chandeliers. There was a mirror on the ceiling, reflecting their bodies on the big bed. Du Xiaoxian was extremely frightened. Why would it be like this? Why could she have such a dream? Was it really just a dream? For it was so real as if she was there personally. The man’s blurry face became clear gradually. She was shocked. It was actually Cheng Mingchi. It was actually him?
His burning hot body made her at a loss, as if he was carrying the power to destroy everything. They wrapped around each other hardly…
Du Xiaoxian finally woke up shockingly. She gazed blankly at the bright blue sky and white clouds, as well as the golden sunlight that was slowly approaching the table.
She sighed and sat up straight. Fortunately, it was a dream, only a dream.
The tea was already cold. She held it up and took a sip. Just as she was about to get some more hot water, her phone rang. She hurriedly ran into the living room to see if it was Gu Nianbin, but she didn’t expect it to be Cheng Mingchi. She looked at the number in a daze. She had just dreamed of him, then he called in immediately…
Gu Nianbin said that he didn’t want her to answer anyone’s phone call. Du Xiaoxian hesitated for a moment, but her finger still moved towards the side of the answer.
She listened quietly, with her little face slowly turning to snow white, which had reddened by the sun. Cheng Mingchi did not know that she was completely unaware of what had happened that night, so he apologized as soon as he spoke. He did such a wrong thing. When he came to his senses, he was filled with regret. He knew that Du Xiaoxian would definitely hate him to death, but if he didn’t apologize personally, he wouldn’t be able to sleep and eat peacefully.
At last, he said, “Xiaoxian, I know you won’t forgive me. I don’t ask for your forgiveness. I really made an unforgivable mistake. I can’t be punished too much. I’ve already dropped out of school. Perhaps I won’t have the chance to see you again in the future. I just want to say sorry to you personally before I leave. I’ve ruined your life, and I’ve ruined my own too. I blame myself. I’m sorry again and let’s say goodbye, Du Xiaoxian. Please forget the person you once knew called Cheng Mingchi. He doesn’t deserve to remain in your memory.”
Du Xiaoxian listened quietly for a long time before asking softly, “Where are you going?”
“Find something to do and earn money to support myself.”
“It’s a pity that you didn’t go to school with such good grades.”
Cheng Mingchi was stunned. He never thought that at this time, Du Xiaoxian still concerned about his future. His nose ached and his eyes turned red. After enduring for a long time, he said, “You don’t have to worry about me. I blame myself. No matter how good I study, it’s useless if I am immoral.”
“You’ve also been tricked by them. It’s better for you to stay in school and study. Don’t let down the name your father gave you.”
Cheng Mingchi couldn’t stand it anymore. Why didn’t Du Xiaoxian frown coldly and scold him? Why didn’t she just hang up his phone? Why did she persuade him to continue studying so painstakingly? She was clearly the one who suffered the most, okay?
Once again, Cheng Mingchi felt ashamed in face of Du Xiaoxian’s pure kindness. In the end, he chose to hang up.
Du Xiaoxian listened to the busy tone on the phone. The sound was so urgent that it made people panic. So that was it. What she had been confused about turned out like this!
Gu Nianbin refused to let her go to school; he told her not to listen to other people or answer phone calls from other people. Although she agreed to whatever he said, she was not totally free from doubt in her heart. So the truth was actually like this! So shameless…
She sat in a daze for a long time and went to Gu Nianbin’s study to turn on the computer. She usually turned on the computer to watch cartoon movies and rarely browsed the Internet. Because she felt that the world of the Internet was too noisy, her simple mind was somewhat unable to cope with it.
News about her was all over the Internet, and there were also photos of her and Gu Nianbin shopping together. In the news, she was a little girl who was greedy for vanity. She hooked up with several men and coaxed a rich young master into holding a dance party for her. However, at the dance party, she staged a sexual performance with her little lover and even broadcasted it live. The words in the news were fierce and sarcastic to the best of the author’s ability.
Du Xiaoxian slowly read the news. Her expression was very calm. She grew up being disdained and ridiculed by others. To her, these things weren’t a great disaster. The only thing she cared about was that Gu Nianbin was involved. The news only mentioned a certain distinguished young master without disclosing his name. However, someone immediately took pictures of her being with Gu Nianbin in the afternoon. As a result, subsequent news referred to a man surnamed G, saying that Du Xiaoxian really had the ability to fascinate a business elite who had always been known for being calm and composed. Everyone else avoided her like a snake or scorpion, but this elite was the only one who remained faithful to her. The news also described in detail how this business elite abandoned the principle of loyalty and piety for the sake of her.
Du Xiaoxian blinked her eyes, and the tears that she had endured for a long time finally fell. She could accept anything, but she could not let Gu Nianbin be wronged and unfairly smeared because of her. He was her noble Young Master. He was so good and perfect, so how could he be humiliated by people like that!
Originally, she was a little girl with nothing. It was Young Master who brought her endless happiness, but what did she gave Young Master in turn? Nothing but insults, disgrace, gossips, and endless accusations.
Du Xiaoxian’s thoughts were always simple. She felt that only by leaving him would she be able to help Gu Nianbin out of his current troubles. As long as her Young Master could remain high-spirited and vigorous in the sunlight, it didn’t whatever the result was for her. No matter how much suffering she suffered, it didn’t matter, even if she had to disappear into the darkness or go to hell.
Du Xiaoxian quickly packed her clothes. Her luggage had been left here, so she could directly carry it away. Other than the clothes she was wearing now, she wouldn’t take any of the clothes Gu Nianbin bought for her. At this moment, she finally understood that those clothes were not something she should wear. She should return to her own world.
Holding her bag, she walked to the door and reluctantly glanced at the room. Her eyes turned red again. When she thought that she would never see Gu Nianbin again, she felt as if a knife were piercing her heart, and her tears fell like rain. She felt nothing except extreme sadness in her heart. Overwhelmed by the heartache and unwillingness to part, she slowly walked into the cloakroom and stuffed a white shirt of Gu Nianbin into her bag.
The keys and phone were placed on the dining table. Afraid that Gu Nianbin did not know where she went, she wrote a note and put it under the phone. Her message was only a very short sentence, “I have left.”
There was no reason, nor did she say where she was going. With just three words, she disappeared out of his world.
After wiping away her tears, the little girl carried her bag and walked out of the house. She didn’t know where she was going, she just wanted to leave this place, the sooner the better. Therefore, she wasn’t too confused and headed straight for the long-distance bus station. Although she had seen the world in G City and knew that there were trains and planes, for her simple mind, those things were too profound, so she chose the relatively familiar long-distance bus.
When Gu Nianbin returned to the city, he intended to go to the company first and then ask Little Ding to pick up Du Xiaoxian. However, after thinking for a while, he drove past the company and directly went home.
He didn’t call in advance because he wanted to give the little girl a surprise. In the end, it turned out to be a shocking surprise for him.
He opened the door and entered, but Du Xiaoxian did not rush over as usual, nor did he hear her crisp voice. The room was unusually quiet. Gu Nianbin suddenly panicked. He quickly changed his shoes and walked in. He saw the phone and keys on the dining table and the note under the phone at a glance. The three words caused Gu Nianbin’s mind to go blank. He looked around the house blankly and quickly rushed into the bedroom. Everything was there, so she had just gone out for a walk? But why did she leave her phone and keys at home?
He stood in the room in a daze and suddenly remembered something. He ran to the grocery room to take a look. Indeed, Du Xiaoxian’s personal items had disappeared.
Gu Nianbin’s heart instantly sank into an abyss. He couldn’t believe it at all. His little girl actually left just like that, leaving without any prior indication…
Gu Nianbin was after all an experienced person. He was only at a loss for a moment. He quickly regained his senses and ran downstairs to the security department to check on the surveillance video, finding that about one and a half hours before he returned, Du Xiaoxian held her bag in her arms and left with a sad expression.
Watching the skinny figure disappearing from the surveillance camera, Gu Nianbin was extremely anxious. He gritted his teeth and called Shen Li. Du Xiaoxian had not left for a long time. As long as he followed the surveillance cameras, he should be able to find out where she was going.
Thanks to Shen Li’s help, he found Du Xiaoxian’s whereabouts. Half an hour ago, she took the bus to S City.
Gu Nianbin immediately headed for S City. He did not drive. Instead, he also took the long-distance bus to S City. He felt that only by taking the same route as Du Xiaoxian would he be able to get all the clues of her journey.
This was the first time Gu Nianbin took a long-distance bus. The space was cramped, and the air was filled with an unpleasant smell. Thinking about his little girl staying in such an environment, his heart ached again.
Outside the window was a large harvested paddy field. Some of the stalks of wheat in the fields had not been pulled out yet. They looked like desolate weeds, forming a scene of desolation. Even the heavens seemed to be cooperating with what was going on. The sunny day suddenly became gloomy. The clouds in the distance were thick and low, as if they were going to directly press down, making one unable to breathe.
