Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Fatso, Save Me (Four Updates – Begging for Monthly Votes)
Wang Haifeng looked at the girl leaving his side with surprise and glanced at Feng Jun, “With such heavy makeup, you could recognize her?”
Feng Jun shook his head disinterestedly, “She was our junior high class president, and she still posts on her Moments from time to time.”
Laughing raucously at his words, Wang Haifeng said, “That’s a good thing, an old flame… you can actually savor a kiss.”
“That’s probably tough,” Zhang Wei picked up his beer for a sip and spoke slowly, “The girls here don’t leave with guests unless they agree; you cannot forcibly take them away.”
He didn’t mention the background of the performing arts bar, but managing such a big place with thirty to forty “performers” just for fun, could such an owner be simple?
“I’m not planning on taking anyone anyway,” Feng Jun sighed lightly, “It’s just lamenting how unpredictable life is.”
Curiosity piqued, Zhang Wei probed further before chuckling, “You’re overthinking it. Let me tell you, not just at places like this performing arts bar, even the hostesses at nightclubs, many have day jobs… Tattooed eyebrows, manicures, all just for show.”
“It can’t all be just for show, right?” Wang Haifeng somewhat disagreed with this view, “I’ve met some who work at banks in nightclubs… Could that also be a façade?”
“Banks depend on the position,” Zhang Wei rebutted without hesitation, being from a securities company, he knew all too well, “Outsourced tellers can also claim to be bank employees, how much can they really earn?”
Feeling frustrated, Wang Haifeng argued, “It’s still a formal job though, can you call it a façade?”
“There aren’t many like that,” Zhang Wei didn’t deny it, but compared to the reticent Coach Wang, he and Li Qiang were the real veterans of the nightlife, “Anyway, these girls don’t want people to know they’re hostesses and always have a job as a cover.”
His words didn’t sit well with the girl nearby, “Bro, we’re performers. Like, I’m from an arts school, not one of those KTV hostesses, we’re not as messy as them.”
“Alright, I know you’re a performer,” Zhang Wei reached out, patting the girl’s bare thigh lightly, smiling, “We’re talking about the hostesses at nightclubs… You’re really a student?”
The girl subtly shifted her body to the side—after all, it was just a regular club, not a nightclub where even this degree of harassment had to be tolerated lest customers get upset.
However, no matter what, since the three men were here at a regular club, they were here to drink and chat. Having a few drinks without any atmosphere just wouldn’t do; a little singing and dancing as backdrop and some girls to flirt a little added to the ambiance.
Li Xiaobin’s appearance led Feng Jun to drift off for a while. After downing two bottles of beer and sending up two flower garlands, he still shifted his focus to serious matters, “Can you get explosives from Sister Shen’s brother?”
“Only Sister Shen would know that,” Zhang Wei spread his hands in a helpless gesture, “Would they let us outsiders know about these kinds of internal operations?”
Feng Jun downed a big gulp of beer, speaking gloomily, “I rejected Sister Shen today, her connection is probably cut off now, isn’t it?”
“Afraid so… it’s probably true,” Zhang Wei was reluctant to admit it, but he knew too well how difficult that woman was to deal with, “Actually, I think you two could still talk it over, after all, she has money, and you two could collaborate on some other project.”
“Money?” Feng Jun scoffed disdainfully, “How much money can she have?”
At this, Zhang Wei was at a loss for words. How could I forget, this guy doesn’t lack money, does he?
“Ah, forget it,” Feng Jun sighed, “I refuse to believe that with money, I still can’t buy things… By the way, Director Zhang, could you discuss the recent stock market trends?”
Zhang Wei was about to respond when a girl hurriedly ran into the booth, “President Feng, I’ve come to toast to you.”
The person who came was none other than Li Xiaobin, who had just left.
Feng Jun glanced at her and then looked behind her, noting the two men that followed her in. He guessed what was happening and couldn’t help but sneer, “Just a moment ago you were calling me ‘this boss,’ and now you know I’m President Feng?”
Regardless, this was a former squad leader of his. He tilted his chin slightly, “Sit down first.”
Without waiting for his instructions, Li Xiaobin took a seat right beside him, squeezing the young girl who was sitting next to Feng Jun to one side.
The young girl looked at her with dissatisfaction but ultimately didn’t say anything.
The two men following Li Xiaobin approached unhurriedly and with composure.
One was exceptionally tall, over 1.9 meters, and the other was short, only 1.6 meters.
The shorter one walked into the booth, regarding Feng Jun and his companions as if they were nothing, and reached straight for Li Xiaobin, “You slut, you dare to run?”
Li Xiaobin quickly dodged behind Feng Jun, screaming frantically, “Fatty, save me!”
Feng Jun used to be quite chubby as a kid, technically due to his baby-faced cheeks. By middle school, he wasn’t overweight anymore, but there were four primary school classmates who carried his nickname into middle school with him.
Interestingly, Feng Jun was actually quite thin during middle school, but the nickname “Fatty” inexplicably stuck, probably because everyone was in a rebellious phase.
Feng Jun sighed inwardly and raised his hand to push away the other man’s reaching palm, speaking calmly, “I say, this is our booth, you’ve walked into the wrong place.”
Whether Li Xiaobin was now a performer or something else, whatever her dispute was with these men, he decided to intervene the moment he heard “Fatty.”
In this era where fast food prevailed, the word “sentiment” seemed somewhat laughable, but that didn’t negate its existence.
“Motherfucker, you looking for trouble?” the shorter one glared and pointed at Feng Jun, “Sit your ass down!”
However, Feng Jun slowly stood up, frowning slightly, “I’m a person who likes to be reasonable. When playing chess, I allow someone to take back a move… have the courage to repeat what you just said?”
It was only because he didn’t know the full story or whether Li Xiaobin was in the right, otherwise, just for the words “motherfucker,” he would’ve considered getting physical.
“Oh, you got some nerve?” the shorter one glared again, puffing out his chest as if he was about to throw a punch.
Zhang Wei attempted to defuse the situation, immediately standing up, “Guys, let’s talk this out… we’re all here to have a good time.”
“Stay out of this, it’s none of your business,” the short man pointed at Zhang Wei, speaking brashly.
“Try pointing me out again?” Wang Haifeng also stood up, “Let’s talk this through, if you want to start a fight, just say it!”
Among the three, he stood the tallest and, being a fitness coach, his physique was imposing and intimidating at a glance.
The short man hesitated upon seeing this. While he considered himself no pushover, facing three robust young men—particularly because they were also patrons of this establishment—made him wary.
Yet, not wanting to lose face, he blustered again, “Do you know what she has done?”
“No matter what she did, you speak nicely!” Wang Haifeng snorted coldly, “Coming over here baring your teeth, who are you trying to scare?”
Coach Wang, though heading into his thirties and already a family man, still had the rebellious spirit of youth and couldn’t stand being provoked.
The argument had escalated, and many customers in the venue had turned their attention to the commotion.
Soon after, several security guards hurried over and stood between the two groups, “Gentlemen, let’s talk this out.”
The lobby manager also hurried over. In her rush, she even twisted her ankle in her thin high heels.
After arriving, she took a look at Zhang Wei, then at the short man, and offered a cheery proposal, “Oh, what’s happening here? We’re all just here to have fun. Let’s say I didn’t look after you all well enough. How about a drink as an apology?”
She then picked up a bottle of beer and gulped it down. Though it was only a 300ml bottle, for a woman to drink it all in one go was quite impressive.
Setting down the bottle, she spoke with a smile, “We’re all friends here. If there’s an issue, tell me, and I’ll resolve it, okay?”
“Manager Chang, you’re not quite up to par,” the short man said with a slightly lifted chin, arrogantly, “Someone is giving us trouble in your place. Should we give Third Brother a call?”
