Feng Jun left his office at 5:30 pm.
He was surprised to see Mrs. Wang. He then gave the phone back to Wang Haifeng as if nothing had happened. “Thanks, dude. I need to take a shower now, and I’ll give you two some space.”
When he was gone, Mrs. Wang glanced at his back and asked her husband in a low voice, “Haifeng, don’t you think that Feng Jun is different today?”
“Is he?” Wang Haifeng was surprised. “I don’t know.”
Mrs. Wang rolled her eyes at him, and said with disdain, “You can’t see any difference! I think he’s taller.”
“Taller?” Wang Haifeng rubbed his jaw and thought for a while. “You’re right. He looks taller now.”
“He was only as tall as your nose, but now he’s reaching your forehead,” said Mrs. Wang with confidence.
Wang Haifeng loved to talk about something else instead of his phone with his wife, so he said with a smile, “He must have shoe lifts in his shoes. Darling, did you notice his shoes?”
“Alright, we’ll know it later. Now give me your phone.” Mrs. Wang reached out her hand to Wang Haifeng and easily got back to the point.
Wang Haifeng had to give his wife another phone. Mrs. Wang called her female friend for a short while and said nothing important on the phone. Afterward, she opened Wang Haifeng’s WeChat and said, “You can get back to your work now. I’ll see your WeChat comments to kill time.”
She had no intention to return his phone, and Wang Haifeng didn’t dare to say anything about it.
Therefore, he pretended to be honest and nodded. “No problem, you can check the transactions of the change in WeChat wallet too. I’m thinking whether Feng Jun used my phone to send himself a red envelope.”
“I don’t think Feng Jun will do something like that.” Although Mrs. Wang said that, she still opened Wang Haifeng’s WeChat wallet.
About 10 minutes later, Feng Jun walked out of the locker room. He saw Wang Haifeng chatting with his wife, so he walked over with a smile. “Hi, are you worried that Haifeng might be flirting with other women? It’s the disadvantage of having a good-looking husband.”
Mrs. Wang smiled. “He’s been absent for three days and refused to answer my calls. I thought he was missing and was about to call the police.”
She was still mad at her husband, but she found nothing unacceptable in her husband’s phone, so she wasn’t very angry.
Seeing that, Wang Haifeng said at once, “Feng Jun and I are going to drink together tonight. Why don’t you go home before me?”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea.” Mrs. Wang was displeased. “Babe, you haven’t eaten at home for three days.”
“We eat takeout at home too. It’s not different from dining outside,” said Wang Haifeng.
Mrs. Wang felt a little aggrieved. “It’s you who don’t like the food I cook for you.”
Her family held a powerful position in politics, and she didn’t cook at all until she married her beloved man. It wasn’t easy for her to do that.
Wang Haifeng gave her a glance with dissatisfaction. “The food you cook isn’t edible at all.”
Mrs. Wang was unstoppable when she tried to stop her husband from having a sexual relationship with other women, but she wasn’t confident when she faced other problems, and she could only argued. “I don’t think it’s that bad.”
Seeing her pitiful face, Wang Haifeng softened. “Feng Jun just got promoted, and we’re going to celebrate it.”
Mrs. Wang turned to look at Feng Jun with surprise. “Are you promoted?”
Feng Jun smiled. “Yeah, but it’s not a big deal, because I have nobody in my team.”
“You have your own office now. That’s a big thing,” said Wang Haifeng. “We’re still sharing a room with another team.”
Mrs. Wang was very easy-going, and she changed her attitude at once. “If it’s true, you two must have a celebration. I don’t drink, so I’ll drive for Haifeng.”
Feng Jun laughed and nodded. “Great! Mrs. Wang, you’re really a good wife and you can save the money of hiring a designated driver in that way.”
Wang Haifeng wanted to drink with Feng Jun because he needed to transfer thirty thousand yuan to him. He clearly knew that his wife would have quarreled with him just then without Feng Jun’s help.
Therefore, he must thank Feng Jun for it in case any accidents happened.
However, since his wife was here, he couldn’t bring it up. He chose a nearby fancy restaurant to show his sincerity.
Feng Jun actually didn’t think further about it. He had entered the space of WeChat to change details twice today, and it consumed a lot of his energy. After all, the changed data would be reflected on the phone.
He ate much before he began to drink with Wang Haifeng.
Wang Haifeng could drink a lot and took good care of his health normally, but he had a free designated driver today and felt grateful to Feng Jun, so he enjoyed himself too.
Feng Jun understood that Wang Haifeng might be worried if he didn’t take his money, so he asked him later when they were drinking, “Haifeng, I know your family owns a factory, can you recommend a good generator to me? The price should be around ten thousand yuan.”
Wang Haifeng gave him a strange look. “Why do you need a generator? Don’t you live in the dormitory?”
“I want to buy one for my parents,” said Feng Jun. He already made up an excuse. “They still live in a small town now.”
Wang Haifeng chewed a piece of duck with great force for a few times, then swallowed it. “I’m not clear about it, and I need to ask my father later. I’ll give you an answer tomorrow.”
Feng Jun nodded. “Thanks, please be quick, and I probably will quit the job after I get the pay for this month.”
“What?” Wang Haifeng was astonished. They had a good relationship with each other, and Wang Haifeng just complimented Feng Jun’s unbelievable ability as a “hacker”, so he didn’t want Feng Jun to leave. “You just got promoted. Why do you want to quit?”
Feng Jun had a sip of his drink, then said slowly, “The promotion doesn’t bring me much money, and I can’t even afford a house. Haifeng, you know I can make much more money with my ability.”
Wang Haifeng understood what he was talking about. He just made thirty thousand yuan in an afternoon. “Fine, are you sure that you’re leaving?”
“I’ll see.” Feng Jun still needed to consider it. “I’ll quit either this month or next month.”
Mrs. Wang opened her mouth at this moment. “Are you going back to your hometown?”
Feng Jun shook his head. “I don’t think so. I’ll stay in Zhengyang City. My hometown is a small town without many opportunities.”
Mrs. Wang nodded and sighed too, “Right, it’s hard to go back when you’re used to the bustling city.”
Wang Haifeng was a man and he had a different idea. “Do you already have a plan?”
Feng Jun thought for a while, then said, “I want to do transportation and sell foreign expensive goods to make more money. Like your expensive phone, I can make a lot of money by selling it as long as I can pass the customs from Xiang Jiang, right?”
Mrs. Wang said before her husband again, “The phone made in Xiang Jiang isn’t very useful. I think the Hao Jiang version is better.”
As an heiress of a powerful family, she indeed knew a lot more than ordinary people.
Wang Haifeng, however, shook his head. “It’s not easy to pass the customs as the first step. Even if you buy one for your own use, you have to unpack it when you pass the customs to make sure it is for yourself. People who work have a pair of sharp eyes.”
“Right.” Mrs. Wang agreed. “How can you sell the phone without a package? If it is confiscated, the loss will be even greater. You can’t make much money by selling a phone.”
Feng Jun frowned again. “What if I bring back a batch of make-up products from Thailand to sell? It should be easier, right?”
Compared with phone trafficking, make-up products were really profitable.
Mrs. Wang nodded once more. “As long as you can bring them back, I can help you sell them. I’m sure that you can have a 30% profit at least.”
It was wholesale and Feng Jun could have 30% profit and Mrs. Wang could make some money too. No wonder it was a huge profit.
Feng Jun could only make a few hundred yuan by bulk smuggling of mobile phones, and the extra money must be given to the channel. It wasn’t a licensed product either, and there were no such things as licensed cosmetics.
Hearing that, Wang Haifeng was dissatisfied with a frown. “Feng Jun, why couldn’t you do some legal businesses?”
“I don’t have much money now, and it’s always dirty during the primitive accumulation of capital,” said Feng Jun without feeling ashamed at all. “Even if I’m going to open a restaurant, I still have to suppress my peers under the name of competition. I’ll only do a business in the gray area. Why can’t I do it when other people are doing that?”
Wang Haifeng didn’t know what to say, because he knew it was the original sin of a capitalist. Even his own father had done many things that weren’t allowed by the law in the old days.
Mrs. Wang tried to save her husband from embarrassment. “Feng Jun, if you really want to resell make-up products, you must prepare more money for it. You can’t run a small business, because you won’t even be able to earn your cost back.”
She knew that Feng Jun lacked money, so she said that on purpose to embarrass him.
“I know.” Feng Jun nodded and looked upset.
“That’s the reason why I’m not sure whether I can quit this month,” added Feng Jun. “I don’t want to work here any longer.”
Wang Haifeng made a promise at once. “If you want to do a business, I can lend you some money. A hundred thousand yuan won’t be a problem.”
Hearing that, Mrs. Wang gave him a glance, but said nothing.
Wang Haifeng noticed that and asked her, “Babe, you can help him sell the products as long as he can successfully bring them back, right?”
Mrs. Wang slightly nodded and gently said, “Right. It’s easy as long as he can bring them back.”
They stopped the topic then. After that, the three of them drank for another half an hour before they left.
Wang Haifeng actually ached to adjourn to another entertainment with sexy women, but his wife was here, so he could only watch Feng Jun leaving.
“Babe, is it because you don’t trust him that you don’t want me to lend him money?” Wang Haifeng asked his wife later, watching Feng Jun disappear in the night.
Although they didn’t lack money at all, they wouldn’t lend other people money when it wasn’t necessary. There were too many bad people nowadays, and they would lose their wealth if they weren’t careful.
Feng Jun was only one of his colleagues after all, and he even wasn’t a local citizen.
Mrs. Wang remained silent for a while, then said slowly, “I don’t think there are shoe lifts in his shoes.”
