Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 99
Chapter 99: She Should Be Gone
Lisa’s POV:
I looked at the woman on the computer screen and almost crushed the glass in my hand.
However, this was the first time I’d seen Eloise like this. Although I’d seen her in dire straits many times, it wasn’t like this.
In the image, she looked extremely fragile, as if anyone could step on her head and then she would explode like a snowflake in the image and be completely erased.
This feeling made me happy. I couldn’t wait for that moment.
However, the video was cut off just as it was about to happen. This meant that someone had found the place and taken her away. As expected, when the communication was restored, there was no one there.
While I was trying to contact the informant, my parents had already come to my side. They looked at me, or rather, the screen in front of me, with worry and asked about everything on it. I thought they would prefer Eloise to disappear.
The reason was simple. Only she would think of her parents, and only the truth of her parents’ death can shake our current position. If it weren’t for the fact that we couldn’t reasonably get rid of her under everyone’s attention, we would’ve made her disappear long ago.
That was why they couldn’t accept the result even more than I could. I could see their hopes collapse, but I didn’t have a better way.
“Shush! I’m thinking,” I said impatiently.
Who had saved her? Could it be that human family? But how did they defeat the werewolves and vampires?
Countless possibilities had appeared in my mind, but I needed to verify them. This was because we could not tell others that this family had adopted a vampire or a stray werewolf.
But I believed that there should be some traces no matter what the truth was.
“Will that person help you? After all, you’re in such a great crisis.” I heard my mother say.
Why wouldn’t he? He would definitely help me, but the premise was that he must not be discovered. If he was discovered, then the situation would only worsen.
“Of course, he will help me. After all, I’m helping him too,” I replied quickly and impatiently. The needle marks on my body started hurting, which was a very bad sign. I shouldn’t have been angry.
“But I don’t think Atticus is of any use to us. He doesn’t trust me as much as he did before.”
I was curious about how this happened because usually, his first impression would be deeper, and he wouldn’t have doubted me like this. However, I could see that when he looked at me, his gaze was no longer as affectionate as before. This meant I no longer had any place in his heart.
If that were the case, I’d rather leave earlier.
Since Eloise had already found out about everything, I could only settle everything as soon as possible.
But why would someone help her? I didn’t understand. Logically speaking, she should have failed the moment I discovered her location. However, I didn’t believe anyone would be willing to help her now. Although she was the heir in name, I was absolutely sure that she wouldn’t get anything.
An ominous premonition rose in my heart. I looked at my parents and didn’t continue to explain.
“This is just a guess,” I consoled myself.
Things would eventually develop as I’d thought they would. I didn’t believe that Atticus or anyone else couldn’t benefit from it.
My phone suddenly rang. I picked it up impatiently.
“I’m sorry,” he said. A soft voice came from the other side of the phone.
This sound was simply heartbreaking because it was too fragile.
“Why would you think that? I’m very grateful to you.” I tried my best to speak to him as gently as possible. Then, I thought about it and spoke even more slowly.
“I’ll love you forever,” I appraised..
