Chapter 98: I Don’t Have Much Time
Eloise’s POV:
I returned home. I was still trembling, but I felt much better than when I was downstairs. At least here, there was no one with whom I had the mate connection.
To be precise, this couldn’t be considered my home. It was just a safe house that Soren arranged for me. The decoration here was similar to the apartment I rented before. However, when I sat there and felt the sun’s warmth, I felt a little relaxed.
At the very least, all of this was finally over. I was safe now, and Soren was sitting right before me. He passed me a glass of wine, his eyes full of worry.
“Are you alright?” I heard him ask.
I couldn’t answer him, so I just shook my head. I couldn’t be sure of my current mental state. I only knew that I was still numb to it.
I still couldn’t fully digest that information. I had no way of getting out of that mental state. This almost subverted all my knowledge of the past.
“No one can accept this information so quickly. Soren, you should let her rest.” His friend couldn’t help but add. After that, Soren just handed me a blanket and motioned me to lie on the sofa and sleep, but I couldn’t fall asleep.
It was not just because of Lisa’s incident but also because of an inexplicable sense of panic. Even though I didn’t want to admit it, this emotion came from Atticus. How could he do that?
My wolf also told me that she thought that this was still a sign of true feelings between us and not simply a sign of the bond between mates. However, no matter what, I would not believe her. She was just a wolf controlled by her instincts, so what truth could she possibly say?
‘Maybe we should think of a way.” Soren looked at me, his face full of worry.
‘We can’t keep hiding here. We should do something to get rid of it in advance.”
But what could I do? What Lisa told me was a warning. She didn’t want me to live well and thought she had the power to control me.
However, she was wrong.
The fact that I could escape from all of that proved this point.
I now understood that the phone call was her surveillance of me. They only found me because I accepted it. This was my mistake because I wasn’t cautious enough. However, no one had told me about this before.
“Don’t blame yourself, poor girl. I understand that this is not your fault.”
Bishop sat opposite me and sighed. Then, his tone became much gentler.
“And this method can only be used once, so you don’t have to worry too much. ”
However, I had to think of a way to deal with this. I understood this very well. And these things were a problem for the current me. I didn’t have any experience in dealing with these things. I looked at them helplessly, and they both had troubled expressions.
I had to rely on the power of this family to survive and make the murderer pay. What should I do if I didn’t understand these? I should start from the beginning and not run away.
I took a deep breath. Then, I suddenly sat up. Bishop and Soren shivered at the same time when I did that. They were like puppets as they looked at me.
At this moment, I suddenly realized that they were related by blood. Their shocked expressions were almost the same.
“Don’t look so surprised. Is there anything I can do now?” I looked at them seriously.
“I mean, I can’t just wait here for them to attack me. I have to do something.”
‘You’re currently resting here. So this is the best thing you can do,” Soren replied quickly.
“I mean, is there anything I can do right now?” I looked at Soren and tried my best to smile. I tried to make them feel my sincerity.
“I’m afraid that it’ll be too late if I want to achieve my goal..”
