Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 94
Chapter 94: The Truth
Eloise’s POV:
I put down my pen and looked at the display in front of me.
The paintings would be hung up, and the person with the most votes would receive all the rewards from Atticus. That person would even receive a promotion and pay raise.
However, these weren’t that important to me.
After completing this artwork, I clicked the upload button, stretched lazily, and lay back on my chair.
I didn’t know if Atticus had left our place, but I’d rather he had left. I didn’t want to see him again because I didn’t know how to continue getting along with him.
I wouldn’t be the only heir of the family. I’d only inherit a little of my wealth, so I didn’t have to socialize with him.
However, given the current situation, it was almost impossible for me to avoid contact with him. I didn’t know how to face him, but I couldn’t see him like this.
Although he looked like he was working hard, he was worried about something, and this worry made him stay here.
I believed Atticus didn’t look normal right now. But I didn’t know what the problem was. He was working or talking about something. His tone seemed to be the same as before, but I somehow felt he was worried about something.
But what was he worried about? I didn’t understand.
It reminded me of the scene when he was sent on a blind date. Maybe he didn’t have that much free will because he had already become an alpha.
At this point, I even felt a little sympathy for him.
At the very least, it seemed I was still free to choose. I wouldn’t marry someone I hate.
Chloe had already moved into the house that Soren had prepared for her. She sent me a message and hoped that I would be at ease. I replied to her and said that I was fine. I’d also go to the place he arranged for me because it was safer there.
Just as I was about to put my phone back into my pocket, Soren called.
Logically speaking, there shouldn’t be any safety issues, but he used this method to communicate with me. I felt quite nervous.
“What’s wrong? You don’t sound too good.” He was panting on the other end of the phone.
“I just have something to tell you.” Soren sounded very worried.
I didn’t know why he was panting, but I thought it must be something very important. I took a deep breath and tried not to miss anything he said, but he was hesitant.
“What’s happening, Soren?” I tried my best to speak as gently as possible. I suddenly thought that we were in the same position. Maybe he had something for me that only I could do.
“If there’s anything I can help them with, please let me know. I’ll do my best.”
“I think you might need to know some truths. ” The sound of typing came from his side.
He sent a document. I saw it in my email but didn’t open it immediately.
“This is about your parents. Although some of the information might seem unbelievable, I can guarantee it’s all true.”
I downloaded it and clicked on it. The title of the document pointed to something obvious. The truth of my parents’ death was in this.
It was not that I’d never been curious about this over the years, but I’d never had the power to find out the truth.
Although my uncle and aunt had already given me their answers, I didn’t believe them because of my age. Although what they offered sounded very reasonable, I somehow felt that something didn’t quite add up.
I believed that Soren would tell me the truth, so I had no doubt about it. However, I didn’t dare to open it when I saw it.
I took a deep breath and clicked on it.
After so many years, I’d been longing for this truth. I couldn’t miss it. Yet, at the same time, I’d prepared myself to face everything..
