Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 93
Chapter 93: What Are You Doing Here?
Eloise’s POV:
Atticus was sitting on the sofa in front of me, drinking tea. I left the office and looked at the name tag on the wall.
Wasn’t this Soren’s office? Why was he here?
Yet, Soren allowed it. This was too surprising.
I looked at Atticus in surprise, but he didn’t seem to notice me. He continued to drink his tea. Finally, I couldn’t help but ask.
“Why are you here… Alright, I know about the cooperation, but why?”
After all, he had already been here once.
“Because I want to ensure that the person who gets my reward has enough ability. I’m sure there’s someone like that among you, and I’d like to interact more with that person,” he answered seriously.
This answer was reasonable, but it sounded too farfetched. With the current development of technology, anything could be completed at home. So why did he have to come here in person?
I wanted to say something, but I couldn’t say anything because his appearance had already begun to affect my mood.
This was the effect of the mate connection, or at least that was what I thought. He didn’t seem particularly comfortable. He simply turned his chair and turned his face to the other side, not looking at me.
He pushed a document toward Soren.
He must be hiding something, and I was guessing Soren knew something. I wanted to start with Soren, but he only gave me an awkward expression.
I could tell he didn’t want to tell me what was bothering me.
I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get any more helpful information here, so I left the studio and returned to my desk. On the way, I saw Page holding a cup of coffee.
Even though her job had changed, she still looked very happy. From the current situation, she seemed to have restrained herself a little. She no longer talked to people and simply sat there and worked seriously.
She still had a considerable foundation. Perhaps this award would be hers. Of course, I didn’t care about it. I didn’t want to go there. That ‘pack left me with too many bad memories.
I tried my best to walk around her , but she had noticed me. She put down her brush and stood up. She didn’t look angry at me. She just seemed to be showing off.
“Don’t overthink it. I only thought I’ve always been stronger than you, but I didn’t get anything. However, after I learned that you didn’t get anything, I felt much better,” she said happily.
The implied meaning of this sentence was very obvious. She was whining about me becoming the heir of this family and that I’d get more than she had, but what did that have to do with me?
I smiled at her and gave her some encouragement. I praised her image and structure. This made her look less terrible.
“1’m jealous of you, Eloise. However, I’m not the kind of person who uses underhanded tactics.”
She looked at me and then took a deep breath.
I didn’t understand what she meant when she said that, but I knew she was being honest. In all the years that we’d known each other, she’d never spoken to me in such a tone.
“1 think you can tell from the past. As for the others, I can’t guarantee that.”
However, wouldn’t it be enough to make others hate her if she didn’t fulfill her promise?
Perhaps she wanted to tell me that Atticus was the one behind all this, or perhaps she just wanted to remind me to guess the specific reason behind it.
However, I thought that at least what she said was right. I wanted to know what Atticus was up to.
I turned around. Atticus and Soren were talking about something. Both of their expressions were extremely solemn, but it was clear that they were at least the same kind of people at work.
I’d never seen Atticus work like this before, so I was a little dazed.
However , he did look different from before..
