Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 92
Chapter 92: I Don’t Owe Her
Atticus’ POV:
I put down the phone and turned around.
When the time was up, everything was over. I returned to the party to deal with some things I had to do. It was at this moment that I saw Soren.
Even though he had a smile on his face, he was also keeping a distance from Page. But at the same time, she didn’t seem to be embarrassed by this. In fact, she even took a step forward.
Her stubbornness might have touched many people, but it would never include Soren. The moment our eyes met, he walked toward me.
The alarm in my heart went off. He was bringing trouble to me, but I couldn’t just walk away because I could tell that he had something to say.
“Good evening, Soren. What can I do for you?” I looked at him warily. Page was right behind us, and she was staring at us with eyes as sharp as needles.
She must be worried that I would say something to Soren, but the truth was that even if I didn’t say anything, Soren already looked disgusted enough.
“I do have some questions for you. You didn’t tell me the details,” Soren replied helplessly. He tilted his head slightly. He was obviously referring to Page.
“Just take it as a request. I don’t want to talk to her anymore.”
I could understand what he was doing now because Page had pestered me like this back then. Finally, I couldn’t stand her anymore and sent her away to study.
“But I only want to say that the location of that incident was a little too coincidental. Would you let a vampire in your territory so easily?” I looked at him as if I was joking.
I didn’t believe that they would have such an oversight. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have become such a powerful human family.
The Cotton family had started with a jewelry business, and now they had almost no shortcomings. But then I thought of Eloise. She was born to like shiny things. Perhaps this was also a genetic trait.
But why did I think of her? I shook my head to get rid of this thought. I shouldn’t be thinking about her, ever.
“Of course not. We’re also investigating and even encountered such an incident just now.” Soren turned around and clinked his glass with mine.
‘VA vampire found Eloise, but she’s not in danger.”
“1 knew it.” I took a sip of wine. Only then did I notice that my hands were trembling.
How could it not be related to her? She had just become the heir of that family, meaning she would be taking away the property that belonged to others. So there would be people who did not like her.
This woman wasn’t that smart, and whether she could survive the war was a problem.
Although I was not very well-informed, vampires had disappeared from the human world for many years. They only recently migrated there like wild beasts.
But what did it have to do with me if she was in danger?
“The mate connection,” my wolf warned me.
“If she dies, you’ll be hurt. It’s a severe injury.”
Alright, it was my own choice that put me in danger. However, I still think that it was worth it that I didn’t choose to let her have the life she wanted.
I quickly booked a plane ticket and was prepared to return to the city.
“You’re also going back to ours?” I met Soren on the plane, and he looked very surprised.
You don’t have to worry about that.” I looked at Soren and did not know what else to say to him.
Fortunately, he didn’t ask any more questions. He just returned to his seat and sat down. I couldn’t see him anymore, so I asked for a cup of coffee when the flight attendant walked over to me.
I knew that I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.
Why did I save her? Wouldn’t that make me seem like a busybody? I couldn’t separate myself from such thoughts.
But at the very least, if I saved her, we would be even then..
