Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 86
Chapter 86: My Choice
Atticus’ POV:
Page was back.
She didn’t seem to like me. She only felt that I could protect her. I didn’t mind what she was not good at, but I didn’t like her character. I didn’t want to be hurt by her again.
I didn’t know about this until I saw a figure that looked like Eloise in the company she worked for.
Until she walked to my side, I still thought I was dreaming, or something was wrong with my eyes. But then, she stopped me and called out my name in her usual animal-like voice.
Moon Goddess, when did she come back? She didn’t even inform me.
“Page, what are you doing here?” I tried my best to remain calm.
“I knew you would be here.” She even looked a little proud.
She was the best at this, showing that everyone liked her and using other people’s reputations to achieve her various goals. So when those goals ended up poorly, she was never the one who suffered.
“Then, you must be stronger than me. I didn’t know you would appear here,” I answered her sincerely. At the very least, I wanted everyone around me to be informed that I wasn’t that close to her.
This made her expression crack a little.
“Happy working together. It’s already so late, and you’re leaving now.” I looked at the supervisor and tried my best to stay calm.
‘Wait a minute, Bro. I have Father on the phone.” However, Page suddenly thought of something and raised her phone.
I knew it. I shouldn’t have looked down on her like this!
‘You must bring her back. I want to see you at the airport tonight,” I heard my father say. I turned to look at Page. She was smug.
Looking at how excited she was, I felt like I had fallen into an ice cave without hope. But I couldn’t disobey his orders.
At least not now.
I met my parents after I returned home.
It turned out that after they realized I wasn’t going to listen to their orders, they had their eyes on Page again. If she could marry Soren, it would be an excellent thing for them.
However, Soren refused to contact us on this matter. We’d already failed several negotiations because of this. My parents were still thinking about my marriage, and Page’s face was even uglier.
I only thought that it was a little funny.
Look, didn’t this still end up like this? We were all at fault, but the outcome couldn’t be changed.
At the end of the meeting, Page looked very sad, but soon, her expression changed again. Finally, she looked at me with determination.
“Bro, although you didn’t say it clearly, you’re using this competition to help me, right? As long as you let me know about that award, I think Soren will think highly of me. If he can focus on me, I think I have a chance.”
But oh Moon Goddess! Did she think that Soren liked Eloise for such a simple
7 reason.
She was completely wrong.
“1t’s up to you,” I answered as tactfully as possible.
At the same time, I also understood why my parents kept forcing me to look for Eloise. The reason was that the new elder’s assembly was about to take place. Overall, the pack was not particularly powerful. I didn’t have the upper hand, and it was very likely that I’d lose some important things because I was too weak.
If I didn’t want to sacrifice my life, I had to at least make myself stronger.
No matter how I looked it, this was not good.
After the meeting, I locked myself in my study.
‘ISO, have you thought about what to do about this?” Jude pushed the door open and handed me a cup of coffee.
It was already morning, and I hadn’t slept the entire night because of this. Although this was nothing to the wolf pack, it was enough to make me feel very disappointed.
“1 think I should go and participate in that trial,” I said as I looked at the dark liquid.
There were many ways to gain the approval of the elders. The simplest way was to challenge the elders and pass their other tests.
To me, this method was much more reliable than marriage, and it might even be faster.
I should become a stronger Alpha. That was why I had to face this.
However, Jude’s expression turned terrible. Of course, I knew what he was thinking, but the truth was that I had no better way to go about this.
“That’s too dangerous. You shouldn’t…”
“But only through that can I gain the trust of these people. This is the path I have no choice but to take.” I sighed and took a sip of coffee. At that moment, my phone suddenly rang.
I looked at the caller ID. The strange thing was it was Eloise’s number on the screen..
