Atticus’ POV:
“My dear, can I go to this event?” Lisa moved closer to me. She showed me her computer, and I saw an electronic invitation.
“Of course, you can,” I answered her casually. I didn’t care about what was on the exhibition and only saw her expression.
Although I was curious as to why she wanted to attend a design exhibition, I quickly agreed to it. So it was already a good thing that she wanted to go out.
“I will go with you,” I quickly added. Her expression darkened in that instant.
“You’re not happy?” I looked at her.
This was understandable. After all, with me around, she might not be able to spend this time happily with her friends.
“No, how could I? I’m very happy to have you by my side.” She smiled.
That expression was forced, I could tell. But I thought she needed someone to take care of her in her current state.
“Don’t worry. I won’t affect your experience. I just want to ensure your safety,” I tried to explain the matter to her.
“Yes, of course, I understand.” She didn’t look so sad anymore. She came up and kissed my cheek. She looked a little flustered, which made my heart break. “So, will you accompany me to the music festival tonight?”
“I have work tonight,” I said awkwardly.
“Alright, but you’ve never rejected me. Or I can go alone,” she muttered and left in disappointment.
‘I don’t think she loves you. She probably loves your money,’ my wolf sneered in my mind.
“She has no reason to do that. She’s also the heir to the pack,” I subconsciously retorted.
I didn’t mind Lisa spending my money. After all, we used to have that kind of relationship. I cared that ever since I discovered that my mate was Eloise, I couldn’t sleep properly.
I could always see her in my dreams. Even though she didn’t say anything and just sat there, I
could still feel my wolfs desire for her. And recently, strange scenes even appeared in these dreams. They were beautiful paintings, but no one in my pack was good at painting.
This was not a good sign.
But fortunately, she had been sent to that manor long ago. As long as I didn’t want to, we would never meet.
‘Of course not. You and your mate will definitely meet. This is the arrangement of the Moon Goddess.’ My wolf understood what I wanted to say. It laughed softly in my mind.
‘Do you think she gave you such a mate without any purpose?’
“I’d rather see this as a test for me,” I answered it.
As promised, I accompanied Lisa to the exhibition hall. An art exhibition was being held here, and the few paintings near the entrance looked almost like the ones in the strange dream I had.
“I should go and get to know this artist. ” I looked at the crowd in front of the paintings and whispered.
“Atticus… My ribs hurt a lot.” Lisa furrowed her brows and placed a hand on her waist.
That was the place where she was most seriously injured in the car accident.
Eloise caused all her injuries. I would never forgive Eloise.
“It seems like we should go to the hospital immediately.” I supported her. She was so fragile, and this made my heart ache.
She pointed uneasily at the crowd gathered not far away.
“I understand. I’ll be waiting for you here.” I nodded at her.
“But you have to come back quickly.”
She wanted to play with them but thought I would be worried. She was too pitiful, just like an animal always getting hurt. I simply couldn’t refuse her requests.
“There’s no need to act like you hate her so much.” I looked at her back and said to my wolf.
“You’re sighing.”
‘No, I’m just thinking. Would she have saved you? After all, she’s not that kind of person.’ My wolf was speaking in a strange tone in my mind.
“She’s only injured,” I retorted.
However, it was true that she was always thinking about how to make herself more comfortable. This was very normal, but at the same time, it also meant that she was unlikely to give up anything to save a stranger.
But who else could have saved me?
However, when I almost died, the face that appeared in front of me was indeed Lisa’s face.
“Jude is investigating things, but I don’t think there will be any changes,” I explained to my wolf to ease the atmosphere between us.
The relationship between a werewolf and his wolf should not be like this.
‘Fine, but you shouldn’t explain it to me. You should explain it to her.’ My wolf sighed.
I thought I was seeing things. But after I blinked a few times, Eloise was still standing there.
She was not as healthy and strong as before. It was as if she didn’t see me and continued to chat with the people next to her.
How could she just ignore me?.
