Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 78
Chapter 78: Thank You For Your Help
Eloise’s POV:
A huge wolf fell from the sky. It had beautiful grey fur, but it now looked covered in dust. The wolf roared at the vampire.
The vampire turned into a giant bat and pounced at him. But then, a few silver lights lit up in the sky. Then, with a loud sound, the vampire fell to the ground and wailed.
It was a silver bullet!
“Are you guys alright?” The bodyguard ran over with a limp. Behind him was a group of other bodyguards wearing the same clothes. However, no matter what, he looked worse than us.
“No, we’re fine,” I said worriedly.
“You, on the other hand…”
“This is our job.” He shook his head and pushed my hand away.
With the effort of his colleagues, the vampire was firmly fixed to a wooden board with silver chains. Then, he was placed in the car and pulled away.
“Thank you very much for your help, Mr. Hil!” The bodyguard turned around and said to the wolf.
Wait a minute, what did he say?
I looked at the wolf in fear. From the wolf’s form, I could already see the look of soul-emptying sadness that only Atticus had.
He simply looked at me, quickly changing into a human. His hair was already wet with sweat, but it still made him look very good under this light.
“He’s so handsome.” I heard my wolf mutter.
I’d never denied this, but it was a nightmare for me to come into contact with him. I tried to run away, but I couldn’t go anywhere under his watch. This was the sad part of the mate connection.
In return, I watched him as well. He tried not to lose any imposing manners, but it was useless. He only cared about talking to those bodyguards.
From their conversation, I could tell a vampire had appeared in the vicinity. Atticus had helped the bodyguards capture the vampire.
Earlier, the bodyguard disappeared because he went to catch the vampire. He didn’t have time to inform us. Thinking about this, I felt I shouldn’t have treated him like that. He was a good person, after all.
“But that has nothing to do with you, right?” my wolf complained.
“I’m saying that you shouldn’t feel so inferior.”
I couldn’t be bothered with my wolf. Due to the mate connection, it would always have a high evaluation of that person.
“But why are you here? Shouldn’t you be backin your pack?” I turned around and looked at Atticus.
“I have my reasons. A vampire ran away, and I couldn’t catch up, ” he said. However, he turned around and said the second half of the sentence to the few people beside him.
“But you really should look into this. There have been too many vampires here recently.”
He then turned to look at Chloe. It was as if he was trying to hide something, but he quickly turned his head and looked at me.
“You should leave this place as soon as possible. There must be other vampires nearby, which might be more difficult to deal with than this one.”
“Thank you, Mr. Hil. We’ll go home now.” I tried to maintain a gentle tone as I spoke to him. I quickly turned around and walked back to our house while holding onto Chloe’s hand.
The bodyguards followed behind us at a certain distance, but they didn’t come too close to disturb us.
“Don’t you think people like him should have bodyguards?” Chloe seemed confused.
“But why is he here and by himself? I don’t understand.”
I suddenly thought of the same question when she asked.
After all, Atticus was a pack’s Alpha. Although he didn’t seem to have an exceptionally high position in the pack because his father was still handling some things, it wasn’t to the extent that he would be left alone when he went out.
‘That’s right. This is really strange, ” I muttered.
It seemed like he was alone. Could he also be running for his life?
I tried my best not to think about this. After all, he had nothing to do with me now..
