Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 64
Chapter 64: My Future
Eloise’s POV:
According to Mr. And Mrs. Cotton, I had some cousins who usually live here. It was just that there weren’t many people in the house because of the evening party today, so I wouldn’t get to meet them.
But I think it was better not to see them now. If I were not related to them, this would get more troublesome.
My phone kept ringing. I could see that the messages were from Atticus. It made my heart beat faster.
“You should see what he’s going to say,” my wolf suggested.
“After all, you’ve just met.”
“What else could he have to say to me? He would probably want to blame me for making a fool of Lisa.” I blocked his number.
“It’s not the first time he’s done this.”
If I couldn’t bear to do this before, I’d made up my mind now. I only wanted to keep a distance from him.
“It’s not like that, Eloise.” My wolf was still trying to explain, but its voice was getting softer and softer.
It must have realized that its rebuttal was without basis.
It was not easy. My hands were trembling, and my heart was in pain as if a silver knife was stabbing it. But I didn’t think it was wrong to do this. This was my first step to freedom.
I tried to catch my breath and then blocked all channels with which he could contact me. When I was done, I was so exhausted that I sat down.
“Perhaps if this continues, it won’t matter if your connection is not broken. ” My wolf spoke again.
“Because you’ve already started to get used to this kind of life.”
Was this really possible? Just as I was thinking, I heard a knock on the door.
“Can I come in now?” This time, it was Soren’s voice.
“Of course! ”
I sorted out my emotions and quickly answered him. I didn’t want him to see my emotions.
There were a few maids behind Soren, and they had food with them. The moment I saw the food, I drooled.
When I first saw Atticus, I only felt angry. However, when Lisa ran to my side, anger overwhelmed me. I had to use all my strength to control myself from turning into a wolf. But at the same time, it also made me not feel hungry.
“I think you haven’t eaten for at least a few hours. These nurses should make you feel better. After all, you’re anemic.” He brought the plate closer.
I was very grateful for his consideration.
However, I couldn’t help but start to worry.
All the things I’d obtained so far were based on the possibility that I was a member of their family. If it was proven that I had no relationship with their family, what would I get?
If I lost the family’s protection as an heir, Lisa might go crazy for revenge.
By then, I would face an even more painful ending than this.
I didn’t want that. So, I put dovvn the bread hesitantly and looked at him worriedly.
“Is it not to your palate?” He was more concerned about my food preference.
“No, they’re delicious. But what if the DNA comes out negative?” I looked at him helplessly.
“All your actions now make me worry about my future.”
“You won’t lose your job because of this. But, if you find this awkward, I’ll refer you to other companies,” he added as he helped the servant put the food on the table.
“We will deal with your identity. We won’t let those people find you. You don’t have to worry about this. You can go anywhere you want to.”
This was indeed an attractive option.
“If someone else finds out about this in the end, the consequences will be terrible if I stay in this company.”
If I could go to a place far away from here, I wouldn’t have to deal with people like Atticus in the future. I was even starting to look forward to that kind of life..
