Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 63
Chapter 63: Her Family
Eloise’s POV:
After telling them what happened to Chloe, I followed Soren to another building.
Even in the car, I still had a clear understanding of this place. This place was too big, even bigger than Lisa’s pack’s Alpha residence.
Countless images flashed through my mind. However, when we arrived at our destination, he only told me to stay in a room before he went out.
I sat on the sofa. For a moment, I didn’t know what I should do. So, I started to inspect the living environment.
The room looked like it had never been occupied before, but every part of the furnishings was very elegant. And most importantly, this place felt strangely familiar.
It took me a few minutes to realize that the decoration style was the kind that my mother liked. However, I’d never seen anything like this since they died.
This realization made me almost unable to move as it was indeed something that my mother had experienced.
It’d been a long time since I’d missed her so much.
Suddenly, I heard the sound of someone walking outside the door. I thought it would be Soren, but I heard a completely unfamiliar conversation.
“How are you? Can we come in?” I heard someone ask from outside the door.
The voice seemed to belong to an older woman. I didn’t know who she was, but she was probably related to me.
“Please come in,” I quickly replied.
Then, two people pushed the door open and walked in.
It was a well-dressed old couple. I subconsciously stood up straighter because I thought they were this house’s owners.
“Hello, Eloise. We are your… Grandfather and grandmother,” the old woman said softly.
I wanted to say that the DNA test results had yet to prove such a relationship and that it was too abrupt, but I only thought about it and didn’t say anything.
I could see the true feelings in the eyes of this old couple. It was out of familial love, and there were no other impurities.
I’d thought of many things, but now, I didn’t know how to answer them.
I didn’t know how to comfort them.
“I’m just afraid of scaring you, child. I can imagine what you were thinking before you came here. Were you worried that we would do something bad to you?” The older woman seemed to have seen through my inner thoughts.
“Look, I’m afraid I really don’t have any other choice… ” I had no choice but tell the truth.
“We understand, my dear. If someone had suddenly told me that I have such an identity, I’m afraid I wouldn’t react much better than you. But we just want to say welcome home.”
“Thank you very much.” I tried my best to be polite.
“I hope you have a good night.” They seemed to have noticed my embarrassment and only hugged me to comfort me for a while before they left.
I heaved a sigh of relief because at least I didn’t have to worry about anything else for the time being.
I threw myself onto the bed and seriously thought about what had happened during this period. It was really amazing.
I was now almost one of the heirs of the most prominent human family. The gap between us was even more significant than the gap between a trench and a snovvy mountain cap.
I suddenly realized that I’d seen them at the party. It was just that they were too cold and aloof back then, and they weren’t people I could simply chat up to.
They were different from when I saw them at the banquet. They looked very sweet now. The older woman even wanted to grab my hand earlier, but she was trembling and retracted her hand.
They really did miss my mother. However, my mother chose to live in the pack for love.
Although this wasn’t particularly strange, her family still couldn’t contact her for some reason.
Ultimately, she got into a car accident and lost her life.
I recalled the incident again. It was hard not to associate it with Atticus’ family.
If it had not happened, everything would have been different..
