Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 62
Chapter 62: She Never Changed
Eloise’s POV:
“Alright, then. I wonder if you have any better suggestions?” Lisa was very unhappy.
The people in the vicinity were originally here to watch the show, but many people left after seeing that Soren had revealed his identity. Only Lisa and her friends were still there.
“We will temporarily seal off the venue. No one will be allowed to leave before we find out the truth.” Although Soren looked very calm, he was using a very serious reason.
“However, I hope you will remain calm during this time.”
She didn’t say anything more but turned around and walked to a corner to sob. This attracted many people to watch.
I was already hearing people discussing this.
Some people thought I stole it. But, in that case, she had achieved her goal.
She didn’t need that thing to appear on me as long as I was being discussed.
Some people thought it was true. But that was fine. She’d always been like this. She never wanted me to attract more attention than she did.
She had always liked it this way. Moreover, it was because of her parents that our wolves were managed. No one ever felt that there was anything wrong with this.
I felt like I was about to suffocate.
Soren had been by my side all this while. He tried his best to comfort me, but I couldn’t hear anything. I could only sit at the side and try my best to calm down.
I couldn’t see Lisa from where I was standing, but I could see Atticus. He seemed to be looking at me, too. But the moment our eyes met, he turned his head away.
I’d rather not have seen him.
Half an hour later, he found the person. It was a thief. He had taken the necklace and hid it in the bucket.
This was Soren’s explanation. I knew that was probably not the truth. However, we had to preserve Lisa’s pack’s reputation, so he could only come up with that excuse.
Lisa took the necklace and cried again as if she had suffered a great grievance. But shouldn’t I be the one crying here?
“Thank you very much. I think I’ll leave now. I don’t want to make you feel bad.” However, she still looked very aggrieved.
“But Ma’am, you’ve forgotten something. You should apologize to her,” Soren said in confusion.
“After all, you’ve wrongly accused her.”
“What? I lost something. I don’t understand why I have to do this.” Her eyes widened, and she held her chest as if she was out of breath.
“Ma’am, you’re the one who accused her, not the other way around. So there’s nothing wrong with that,” Soren explained patiently.
More and more people were gathering around us.
Lisa looked at me unwillingly and apologized. Then, she rushed into the crowd.
Usually, Atticus would have gone after her and comforted her. However, today, I saw him standing there, looking at Soren and me with a confused expression.
However, when he met my eyes, he quickly turned away.
This man was getting weirder and weirder.
“I’m sorry to have caused you all this trouble. I think I’ll leave as soon as possible.” I looked at Soren.
“It’s best not to react like this. It’s hard to say if she is up to something else, so you’d better stay here with us tonight,” he quickly replied.
I had no reason to reject him because I knew he was right. Lisa was that kind of person. I had to be wary of her.
I saw Lisa again at the door. She should have left by now, but the truth was that she was still waiting here.
The matter itself was strange enough.
I didn’t know if it was an illusion, but when Lisa stood there, it seemed like someone was reaching out for her hand.
He looked so humble, and he wanted to help her. However, she took another step in another direction and dodged him.
So who was it? I was curious. No matter who it was, their relationship was not simple.
However, before I could see clearly, the hand was out of sight again..
