Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 53
Chapter 53: I Don’t Want Her To Be Disappointed
Atticus’ POV:
“Look, to some people, you’re like a miser.” My wolf laughed madly.
I ignored him and focused on what Eloise said.
Why did you think that I came here for this? Did she not see what I did for her before?
Perhaps she was just a woman who was challenging to communicate with.
Thinking of this, I was so sad that I couldn’t breathe. However, I still maintained a calm expression as I looked at her.
She had brought this upon herself. She didn’t deserve any sympathy. This must be it.
“If that’s how you view me, then I can only say that you’re very wrong.” I tried my best to remain calm.
“I told you this would happen.” My wolf was laughing.
“Soren’s right. She doesn’t trust you that much anymore. So you have to be careful no matter what I do with you. You’ll have to put in much effort to get her to regain her feelings for you.”
But why should I restore that feeling? Those things had nothing to do with me anymore. If it wasn’t for the fact that I noticed that something was wrong with Lisa, I wouldn’t even want to get involved in her affairs.
However, there was no point in saying all this now. After all, she had turned out like this.
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with her. However, I shouldn’t have wasted any sympathy on her.
However, seeing her expression change, I couldn’t help but go up to her.
She was staring at the laptop as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. After I leaned over, she suddenly looked up.
She looked at me somberly. The last time I saw her with such an expression was at her parent’s funeral.
I didn’t know how to describe it, but at the very least, I felt that I should consider her thoughts.
Her sadness was transmitted through the mate connection earlier. I wanted to hold her in my arms, but when I was about to reach out to her face, I resisted it and patted her shoulder instead.
“Someone logged into my account and deleted all my files.”
She sounded like she was about to cry.
“All my documents have disappeared. I can’t hand in my work on time. This is my job.”
This was indeed a grave incident, especially when she was a designer. However, I knew that if someone else deleted her files, it was very likely they had already leaked her results.
I knew this was not a good time to say it aloud, so I remained silent.
But wait a minute. Since I was the one who brought this thing back, would she blame me again?
I saw her expression when she saw me. It seemed that she was indeed suspicious.
However, compared to me, her roommate was more suspicious. Unfortunately, she didn’t seem to think of that.
“Didn’t you log in to these accounts before? Or your laptop… “I panicked when I saw her expression.
Why should I be concerned about her feelings? I took as deep a breath as possible, trying to drive these emotions out of my mind. I didn’t need them. “It’s too late. I need to hand in my work, but now…”
Her expression was one of despair.
She might lose her job because of this, and I was very clear about that.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” Although I didn’t like her, I still didn’t want her to feel like this.
She shook her head and began to sigh. Her shoulders were shaking slightly as she tried to control her emotions.
“It’s almost impossible to get these things back. I’ll lose this job and end up on the streets. Don’t you want to see that?” She looked at me and almost cried.
I looked at my hands. If I hadn’t tried my best to restrain myself, I would’ve wanted to hug her again.
This was all due to the mate connection. I didn’t want to do that..
