Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 48
Chapter 48: Welcome Home
Eloise’s POV:
“What else? I can’t think of any other reason Soren would treat you like this.” Atticus looked even angrier.
“I don’t know,” I replied sincerely.
But it was true that Soren was too concerned about me. This was beyond his job scope. This made me a little flustered.
I didn’t think he liked me because he didn’t have that look in his eyes when he looked at me.
Could he want my blood too?
But I didn’t think that was possible. After all, I still have some werewolf’s blood, and my blood was of no use to humans.
Atticus’ phone rang. He glanced at me, turned around, and walked out with his phone. I thought it must be a very important job, so I kept quiet the whole time.
It was only after he left that I could finally catch my breath. The things he said were worth thinking about.
Perhaps I should leave this place. This was the best choice I could make right now. I stood up slowly and was prepared to run out of the ward.
But I heard a slight cough I heard a slight cough just as my feet touched the ground.
I turned around and looked at the person standing there in surprise.
“Hello, I just wanted to get some fresh air.” I tried my best to remain calm. However, the truth was that even I didn’t believe this excuse myself.
“Eloise, I’m here to tell you something. ” Soren did not notice any abnormality in me. Instead, he stood in front of my bed, looking a little hesitant.
“Did something extraordinary happen?” I could already accept this result.
“Or, which part of me do you need now?”
“No, I don’t. The patriarch of the Cotton family. He wants to see you.” He looked surprised that I would say that. He took a deep breath.
It was my turn to be surprised. He threw me a stack of documents, and I opened them as fast as possible.
There were a dozen old photos inside.
He told me a shocking fact.
My father once lived in this city for some time. My mother was a member of the Cotton family. It was at this time that they got to know each other.
They were all photos of them when they were young. There were even photos of my young self.
“We only discovered this recently. As for why I was able to discover this… It’s because of your pendant. This was left for you by your mother, right?” He pointed at my chest.
“The chief has been looking for your mother. Finally, he found you.’
I subconsciously hid it. My mother gave this to me, but I had never realized that it had such a special meaning.
This meant that I could inherit a fortune. At the very least, I didn’t have to worry about being unable to pay my rent next month.
This was too unexpected for me.
But before that, I had to go through a DNA test.
“I always thought you were the heir of this family, something like that.” I tried my best to make myself look less surprised.
“Actually, my father is the family’s butler.” Soren sighed.
“As for why I grew up in the pack… That’s another story. My parents were hiding from the conspiracy, so they stayed in the pack. Because I’m an old acquaintance of yours, they transferred me here to take care of you.”
But why didn’t he know about my past before? I almost wanted to ask this.
He understood my question and just shook his head.
“But your mother left so early that I’ve never even seen her. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have suffered so much. Madam was the one who discovered the problem with the pendant, so I can’t tell you much.” His expression was so sincere.
“Welcome home. ”
I looked at him. I knew that if I agreed to his request, I would enter a whole new world.
And I was not ready for that.
“But the results aren’t out yet. So don’t jump to conclusions so quickly.” I stopped him.
I was not used to encountering such a surprise..
