Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 47
Chapter 47: All This For Him?
Eloise’s POV:
A strange creature came to my side and stuck itself to my face. Its body was warm and soft.
I didn’t think it was dangerous. I wanted to reach out and touch it, but I couldn’t.
“Don’t go… ” I suddenly became curious about it. I didn’t want it to leave.
I woke up. It was only then that I realized that the thing that prevented me from lifting my hand was the binding belt.
But what was that strange creature that was approaching me? I couldn’t wrap my mind around it.
The last thing I could think of was that I was still in the hole in the tree and saw the helicopter in the sky. I didn’t know who would come to save me, but I knew that someone would come.
I was not surprised to be treated. This was because this was likely to happen.
But why was Atticus still here?
I looked at him in surprise. This was no different from seeing a snowman built on the road in the summer.
He was sitting on the sofa, typing on the computer. He must be dealing with some work.
Since he was so busy, why was he here?
“I know you’re awake. Don’t forget. I can see your heart rate.” His voice suddenly rang out.
I opened my eyes and looked at him helplessly. It seemed that he had discovered my plan of pretending to be asleep.
At this moment, I wished that this was a dream. When I closed and opened my eyes again, something else would be in front of me.
There was a commotion in the corridor, and my colleagues appeared. They were like a school of sardines squeezed into the water.
“Eloise! I’ve been very worried about you since that day.” Hanna grabbed my arm.
“But it looks like she’s fine!”
I followed her gaze. Atticus sat there and looked at us coldly. He didn’t seem to be hurt at all.
“Is he repaying your favor because you saved him?” she asked in a low voice. “I know he is very busy. Otherwise, there would be no reason for him to be here.”
That’s not the case.” I almost choked on my saliva.
“Alright, we’re only here to give you flowers… But, we still have to go back and continue working.”
“I wish you a speedy recovery!” Then, they left together again, and the place instantly became silent again.
Atticus stood like a statue not far away. However, he looked so dull that I thought he was an actual statue.
Then, he turned to look at me.
Did he still want my blood?
I subconsciously raised my hand.
“Stay away from me. I’m going to press the call bell.” My voice sounded hoarse, but I still tried my best to shout.
He looked at me like I was an idiot.
“Do you think I will hurt you? I’m not that bored.”
“Didn’t you come here for my blood?” It was my turn to be surprised.
“Do you think I’m a vampire?” He seemed like he was laughing from anger.
“Besides, I’m not the one who needs your blood in the first place.”
‘Indeed, it isn’t you who needs my blood, but that person whom you indulge.’ I thought but didn’t say it out loud.
There were only the two of us here, so I should be more cautious.
At the very least, I had to stay calm before I recovered.
“I only want to know why you would think of me this way. I don’t think I’m a mean person.” His voice suddenly became gentler.
I helplessly turned to look at him.
So it was all for him. I knew he wasn’t that kind.
I thought about it seriously, not knowing where to start. Initially, I wanted to accuse him, but I gradually realized it was unnecessary.
That was because I didn’t care about these things anymore.
These things had become less hurtful since I had my job and life.
However, he couldn’t understand any of this. Instead, he looked at me with a complicated expression.
I didn’t want to explain anything to him anymore. I turned away and continued looking at the curtains’ folds.
“Or did you finally realize that you like Soren and think I can be abandoned at will?” He suddenly spoke again.
This time, there was a hint of anger in his tone.
“Do you know what you’re saying?” I was completely confused by his thoughts..
