Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 46
Chapter 46: The Hidden Truth
Atticus’ POV:
Eloise was lying there. I couldn’t understand the numbers on the medical equipment, but I knew that she was in a very stable condition.
It was just that she had yet to wake up.
However, the doctors all said that her condition was not a big deal, so the only thing I could do was to wait here.
Soren told me he had already informed her colleagues that she was injured. Therefore, those noisy people could be at any time.
I didn’t mind that. I was already used to those people.
I learned a few things from the message that Jude sent me. On the one hand, someone was trying to promote Lisa to prove that she had been waiting for me since I returned to the city. But, on the other hand, my company was indeed running smoothly.
Although I didn’t care about these, I still had to explain the necessary facts. I didn’t want this to have any negative impact on anyone.
I looked at Eloise, who was still lying on the bed. I was getting more and more confused now. Did I not treat her well enough before? Everything I did was under the agreement she signed with me. I didn’t do anything out of line. I even provided her with a very good place to stay. So I didn’t understand why she would make such a decision.
Every time the doctor drew blood, I would arrange for someone to examine her first. I’d only drawn her blood when I was sure she was healthy.
This was completely different from what she had shown. So there must be some hidden story.
No matter what, I had to wait for her to wake up and explain this.
This was the reason I was here now.
After the doctors left, Eloise and I were the only ones left in the room. The noise from the instruments annoyed me.
There was nothing I could do other than keep an eye on her.
She smelled very good. Even though [ knew this was the effect of the mate connection, I still found it hard to resist the urge to kiss her.
“Admit it. You can’t overcome your instincts.” My wolf sneered.
“The Moon Goddess has her reasons for choosing you. So don’t resist this.” “There’s no one who can completely not hold a grudge.” I disagreed with it.
How could I forget what Eloise did?
My phone rang. It was a message from my father.
He was urging me to find a new Luna as soon as possible, and Lisa was still the best candidate, in his opinion. Furthermore, he wanted me to produce an heir as soon as possible to prevent the surrounding packs from doing anything.
I didn’t want to talk to him anymore. His way of thinking was so strange. Why did he think I had to marry someone who didn’t like me?
Or rather, he hoped that everyone’s life would be as miserable as his as if that would make his meaningful.
“If you want to have another successor to the pack, you can do your job yourself,” I quickly replied and blocked his number.
I could imagine how he would describe me, but since I couldn’t see, it didn’t matter at all.
I lowered my head and continued to look at Eloise’s face. I wanted to touch her, but I had to restrain my instinct to give in to temptations as much as possible.
I hoped she would wake up at this moment so that she could share the burden of everything I’d been through. She should understand all the suffering.
She was just lying here, which was unfair. It had always been like this. She could avoid all the storms. She just had that kind of good luck.
I approached her. She was still wearing an oxygen mask, but it didn’t taint her appearance. Her slightly curled, long hair was like a waterfall on the bed, which made her look wonderful.
I would be willing to praise her for her looks if she wasn’t so annoying. But it was a pity that she became my mate in this way.
I moved closer to her.
By the time I realized it, I had already planted a kiss on her face. Soren, who just walked in, saw that.
“Should I leave?” He stood rooted to the ground and pointed at the door.
I’d never wished for him to shut his mouth as I did now..
