Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 45
Chapter 45: You Misunderstood Me
Soren’s POV:
I looked at Eloise, lying on the stretcher, and Atticus, sitting beside me. I felt a headache coming on.
Even with the noise-canceling headphones on, I could still hear the buzzing sound of the aircraft. Atticus, on the other hand, did not even have any noise-canceling equipment on him. However, he sat there without any change in his expression as he looked at Eloise.
To a certain extent, this was amazing. After all, werewolves’ hearing was much more sensitive than humans’.
But what was the use? He chose the wrong time to show his love, which was just a way to convince himself that he was doing the right thing. Of course, I knew what he had done before, and I was even surprised that Eloise would still insist on their marriage under such circumstances.
Before I came here, I knew that I might run into Atticus. I even planned the reason I would use to take her away from him.
However, I didn’t expect that he would leave with my aircraft. This was too shocking.
I should give Eloise to him. But in reality, I could not leave her behind, and even more impossible for me to let her suffer such grievances.
I tried my best to control my emotions so that Atticus wouldn’t continue to go crazy. After all, I used to like her.
I liked her when I was still living with them in the pack. However, at that time, she only had eyes for Atticus.
I had to hide my feelings and continue to be her friend.
However, this was no longer a problem since.
It was obvious that Atticus still remembered this. Otherwise, his expression would not have changed so much.
We quickly returned to the city. From the bodyguards’ reports, I could see Lisa standing outside the airport, looking extremely anxious.
To be honest, I didn’t like her way of doing things because the media would soon find out that Atticus was here and how much she cared about him.
But in reality, she had only been here for a short while. The time she spent here was so short that my men almost didn’t see her.
I really didn’t understand why Atticus would like a woman like her. But I wouldn’t tell him the details.
“Do you want to see her? If you want to go, you can go faster,” I told Atticus. I didn’t want the paparazzi to come in and affect Eloise’s medical process.
Atticus ignored her and even got into our car.
“That’s not why I’m here, and I don’t have to see her… Wait a minute, you look surprised.” He looked at me in surprise.
“No, this is just a little different from what we’ve heard.” I looked at him curiously.
It was rumored that Atticus was particularly fond of Lisa. But now, it seemed that he didn’t even like her. However, no matter what, it was clear that he did not look as anxious after Eloise received first aid.
“There’s always some deviation in gossips. So, can I take her away now?” Atticus looked at me.
“She’s an employee of our company, so I have to be responsible for her.” I didn’t want to answer his question, but at the same time, I didn’t want to anger him. “But if you want to, you can come and accompany me, can’t you?”
“Okay, then I’ll stay here until she wakes up.” He looked at Eloise, not wanting to leave at all.
I ignored him and continued to work on my phone. I didn’t want anything to happen to Eloise, but at the same time, I had to consider my identity.
Eloise’s injuries were not very serious, and the main problem was that she had lost too much blood. However, it was nothing to the werewolf, so she could lie there until this was over.
She wasn’t a complete werewolf and had severe malnutrition and anemia. But, compared to returning her to the pack, we had a better way to treat her.
This would require long-term treatment, but we’d give her the best help since she was in our territory.
I knew that if I were to explain some things now, it would make everything easier. However, because of everything that had happened, I was unwilling to say it aloud before I was ready.
I looked at Atticus. He just sat there like a stone statue.
I suddenly regretted talking to him like that. I was asking for trouble. I was apprehensive when he sat beside her..
