Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 43
Chapter 43: You’re Here Too
Eloise’s POV:
The so-called crucial herb that could save the dying werewolves was a special mushroom.
All of these mushrooms lived under a type of tree, and huge poisonous insects grew under the tree.
Those poisonous insects were so dangerous that even their people were unwilling to get close to them. However, almost every year, some werewolves died because of these precious herbs.
But I must go there personally if I wanted to save my life. I didn’t have a choice. I couldn’t trust anyone anymore.
Half a day had passed by the time I arrived at the tree. I finally knew what Atticus had been up to that afternoon when he disappeared. He must have put in much effort to be able to rush back at that time.
But these things have nothing to do with me. This could only prove that he was putting much effort into Lisa’s future.
I tried my best to calm myself down. There must be some dangerous monsters here. At least I shouldn’t anger them.
“Can you stop paying attention to him?” My wolf suddenly asked.
“I can’t. That’s why I need it. Only by completely cutting this connection will I have the chance to live my own life,” I quickly replied.
I had to admit that even if I didn’t want to talk to him now, his ghost would always be in my life. I didn’t even think I cared about him this much before I married him.
This was completely the effect of the mate connection.
I was already looking forward to that moment. That was the moment when I truly had my own life. And when that time came, I wouldn’t need to be restricted to their pack.
I used to think my love for him was a waste of time. This was all due to my misjudgment. I didn’t want to live like that anymore.
“Maybe,” it said softly.
“I don’t think that’s the main reason. ”
But other than that, what else could it be?
I looked up. It was a tree that had lived for who knew how many years. It looked even bigger than the house I lived in.
I looked at the hole next to its roots and felt a little scared.
I wondered what kind of monster lived here. Was he the one who injured Atticus?
From where I was standing, I could see the back of a huge round figure. It looked like a hibernating brown bear. After all, this was a tree cave, so it was normal for these animals to be here.
I carefully walked deeper into the cave, trying not to disturb it. I moved as carefully as possible, afraid of making any noise.
However, I still stepped on a piece of dead wood, which made a crackle.
It was only when that beast pounced on me that I realized it wasn’t an ordinary bear. Its head was a rotten entity. If I were to be bitten by it, the damage would be unimaginable.
I felt my bones breaking and reforming, and my vision changed. Finally, I turned into a wolf.
My wolf took over my body.
This was the first time I’d been in this state. I didn’t know how to describe it, but it was like I was watching a movie at the right time. And the pain caused by this movie was real to my body.
I jumped around on the inner walls of the tree. It tried its best to fight with the man. Even though I was injured, the monster retreated. Then, I saw the beautiful mushroom above me and jumped on it.
I pulled it down, and when it fell to the ground, I transformed back into my human form. My arm must be broken because I couldn’t feel it at all. This situation was too strange.
I stuffed it into my backpack and desperately walked out. I had to be quick, or I would die here. The monster was still roaring from behind me.
But I felt that I had completely lost my strength. Then, before I fell, I saw a helicopter.
It was flying toward me from not far away. Even though it was making much noise, I still couldn’t open my eyes.
If this was an hallucination, then it was wonderful..
