Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 41
Chapter 41: The Person He Loves
Eloise’s POV:
Atticus lay there, looking like he was in so much pain that he couldn’t move.
I stuck half of my body out the window to look at him. And he was indeed just standing there as if he had never moved.
There was a huge wound on his hand. Now, it was oozing blood.
But I really couldn’t just leave him be.
I dragged him into the house and put him on the bed. It was the first time I had dragged such a big thing since I became a werewolf.
It was only then that I realized my physical strength was completely different from before. Even before my blood was drawn, I didn’t have such strength.
“So, what do you plan to do with him now?” My wolf asked me curiously.
“Get the werewolves here to take care of him. I’m not in the mood to see him again,” I quickly replied.
Soon, the werewolves arrived. They quickly began their treatment. Atticus’ expression quickly returned to normal.
“But I don’t understand. Why did he suffer such a severe injury here?” I curiously poked his face.
He was a little bloated now, which made him look less threatening.
The Beta just stood there and looked at me indifferently.
“It’s because I still need materials. Those things are hard to get,” he answered seriously.
“Otherwise, he could have left by now.”
In other words, he was injured when he got those materials.
“It must be for someone very important to him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have to do this because he doesn’t need these things,” the Beta added.
“Of course.” I know how much he liked Lisa.
“You’re not his mate, are you?” The Beta handed me a bottle of beer.
“I mean, it seems like someone else needs that thing, and he loves her so much.”
“Yes, you’re right. I’m just worried that you’ll drive me away. That’s why we didn’t refute him. I apologize for this.”
I was just a burden that the Moon Goddess pushed on him, not someone he liked.
Of course, he was also a burden to me now.
“Everything we said makes sense now. It’s just that you didn’t have to do that back then. We don’t want outsiders here. It’s not like we won’t provide help.” He laughed.
“By the way, what’s your name? I can’t always call you ‘Beta’,” I said, embarrassed.
“No, we don’t have names. I’m the Beta here, so there’s nothing wrong with you calling me that.” He lifted Atticus’ clothes as he spoke. There was a huge scar on his chest.
“This is a wound caused by a poisonous insect unique to our place, so we will deal with him.” I looked at the person lying on the bed coldly.
If needed, I could take care of him, but the premise is that he can pay me the relevant fees. Otherwise, I didn’t have to do this.
Thinking of this, I was suddenly happy again. At least I could get enough money from him. “Don’t worry. We don’t need you to take care of him.” The Beta looked at me with a smile.
“You’re worried about this, aren’t you?”
“Thank you very much.’
I was still very grateful to him. At least he didn’t make things difficult for me.
I left the house and sat by the stream, looking at the sky in boredom. I had nothing to do other than draw these scenes.
They told me that Atticus had woken up. So even though I didn’t want to be here, I had no choice but to come.
After all, we were still tied together here. As long as we hadn’t left this place, we couldn’t be separated.
The moment he looked at me, there was an apologetic look in his eyes, but very quickly, that disappeared completely.
Because he saw that I was holding the mushroom.
“You almost lost your life for her. What an amazing love.” I tried my best to sound as calm as possible, but in reality, I couldn’t help but mock him.
“What are you talking about?” He obviously didn’t understand what I said.
“That mushroom is very precious. You can put it down first, and then we can discuss this.”
Of course, I knew that it was very precious. That was why I was angry now. He could even drag me down to treat Lisa’s illness, but he was unwilling to give me back my freedom before that.
‘The stark difference in this. Plus, he’s my mate… ‘
It was too hard to accept..
