Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 38
Chapter 38: The Mysterious People
Eloise’s POV:
Atticus looked up at me helplessly.
Looking at his attitude, I suddenly decided there was no need for me to say more.
But if he didn’t say it now, there might not be any better opportunities left.
I’d never looked forward to the moment when he’d be away from me more than now.
“Actually, it’s more like you have something to say to me now,” Atticus suddenly said.
Even though his breathing was uneven, he was still as annoying as before.
“You should have rejected me. Or rather, we should reject each other.” I sighed.
If I could completely free myself from him, my life would be much easier. However, that kind of life seemed to be a luxury now.
“Otherwise, it’ll have too much of an impact.”
Atticus looked at me as if he didn’t understand why I was thinking this way.
“You know that this process will damage your body to a great extent, right?”
“Of course, I know.” I tore open the cushion’s packaging and measured its size on his body.
However, I’d rather die than have anything to do with him. This was the reason why I wanted to leave.
I didn’t think he’d ever understand this.
“I don’t want to be your partner, but I’m not a cruel person. Your previous situation… Wow.” He couldn’t help but snort.
“This is not the time to think about this, is it?” I tried my best to bandage his wound. However, no matter what, blood would always seep out of the padding.
This meant that his wound had already reached an awful state.
I couldn’t help but recall the previous situation. Back then, his injuries were particularly serious, and he could not bear the pain of rejection.
Could it be that he was seriously considering my physical condition?
If so, our relationship might not be as bad as I thought.
“Don’t overthink… I mean, those are completely useless.” He took a deep breath.
However, I also knew it would take at least a few hours for help to arrive. Before that, he would still be in danger. As long as his wound was still bleeding, he would likely lose his core temperature.
“You shouldn’t have saved me.” I sighed and settled down.
The weather was getting worse, and it could rain at any moment. Although we brought a thermal blanket, it was not useful in this situation.
I couldn’t have handled this if I still didn’t have my wolf. However, I was just a werewolf now. I wouldn’t die here so easily, and neither would he.
Under such circumstances, I found myself even more confused about his actions.
“Yes, you’re right.” He finally understood what I was talking about and awkwardly touched the tip of his nose.
“I don’t think there’s any Alpha like you, coming to a place like this without any guards,” I ridiculed.
“I’m very sorry.” He reached out and pulled me close by my neck, forcing me to lean toward him.
His scent filled my nostrils. I could barely move. I could feel that my arm was no longer at my mercy.
I pushed him away. Before I could retort, I suddenly realized that his wound was no longer bleeding.
“This is a special ability that the Moon Goddess has bestowed upon her mate to alleviate the damage caused by silver,” my wolf explained.
“So, at least before his wound truly recovers, you..
“Alright, I understand.” I stopped it midsentence.
I knew that I had no way of getting rid of him. At least, not for the time being.
“Look over there.” Atticus tugged on my arm. I followed his finger and looked into the distance.
Two people slid down from the cliff. They were dressed very simply and did not look like tourists at all.
On the contrary, they were more like residents here.
My eyes widened. I knew why he must come here. He was indeed here to see the werewolves who lived here!
In the legends of the werewolves, they would never leave where they originally lived. It was as if they were trapped here by a curse. Although there was no way to verify that, it was certain that they had more than just decorations that could be treated as art.
‘I Respected Alpha Atticus. Hello,” one of them said.
He didn’t even look at me as if I didn’t exist.
‘[We’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”.
