Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Her Purpose
Atticus’ POV:
Eloise just walked up to me.
Although she looked very calm, I was sure she was already outraged. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be clenching her fists like this.
She had never been like this before, at least not to me. She only found out about this after she decided to divorce me.
I never realized that she could be so emotional. Before this, I always thought she had no other thoughts other than wanting to marry into my family.
“You missed out on a lot, but the mate connection gave you a chance.” My wolf sighed helplessly.
I’d been taught since young that the mate connection was never wrong. But so what? I didn’t think she was suitable to be my mate. Those things that had already happened could not be changed. These emotional cracks would always exist.
Even though I now knew that she couldn’t do some things.
“But that wouldn’t change anything. She’s the one who has decided to leave,” I retorted.
But now, no matter what, she had achieved her goal. She had successfully married into this family and was almost on the verge of leaving this place. However, I didn’t want to let her have her wish now.
I wanted to stay by her side and overthrow her plan.
I subconsciously touched the wound on my wrist that was still covered by my clothes.
The damage that silver could do to werewolves was severe. My wound had not fully recovered, but it was no longer painful.
It wasn’t easy to deal with that incident, but I didn’t think there was a need to tell Eloise about it. After all, she no longer had a strong connection with my pack.
The attackers had not been caught, so it caused a great panic in the pack. No matter what, I was responsible for this. I could only help to the best of my ability there.
At the same time, almost everyone was concerned about why the woman beside me had such an ability. After all, humans shouldn’t be at such a party.
I could only explain Eloise’s identity to them and that she was my fated mate.
“You’ve dragged her into danger,” my wolf told me.
“I’ll handle it, won’t I? At least I’m here now.” I didn’t want to explain to it anymore.
I was indeed here to look for that pack. Their precious notes recorded everything that was related to my current experience. So even if I didn’t understand, I could ask the people from the pack.
“These are all excuses. You’re here for her, aren’t you?”
Originally, I didn’t need to be here, but I changed my mind after hearing someone say that Eloise had been arranged to be here. So to a certain extent, what he said was true, but…
That was just a coincidence.
“That’s not what happened. I swear to the Moon Goddess.” I tried to defend myself.
I would never do such a thing for her.
“Alright, you can say whatever you want. But it’s a fact that you’ll go hiking and diving with them.” My wolf was sneering.
I ignored it.
I came here for my reasons.
“So, we’ll go hiking tomorrow. Everyone, please be punctual.. “Pearl’s speech ended.
I pretended to listen carefully, but I didn’t remember much.
She mentioned many things to take note of. I’d already understood this before I came here. She didn’t say there were indeed many werewolves here, but they usually didn’t want to appear in front of others.
Eloise listened attentively and even recorded the information. But what was there to remember?
“You’ve overlooked her strength. That’s a mistake you’ve made before.” My wolf suddenly commented.
“Say no more,” I retorted.
My wolf was too heavily affected by the mate connection now, so I had to stay away from Eloise.
I looked up subconsciously. Then, I suddenly noticed Eloise looking at me.
“What?” I asked softly.
Her expression looked particularly strange.
“I just wanted to say that this is for you.” She stuffed a walking stick into my hand.
“Don’t be late tomorrow morning. “.
