Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Breaking My Promise
Atticus’ POV:
“Could you be hoping that I’ll go and find her now?” I looked at Eloise.
I hoped she knew what she was trying to say. However, it was obvious that she didn’t realize what was wrong with what she said.
I was staying far away from Lisa to avoid future trouble. After all, I knew how many paparazzi there were in this area. Compared to talking to Lisa, I would rather explain this to her.
“I didn’t say that. It’s just that you should keep a reasonable distance from your ex-wife.” She lowered her voice.
Now that things were getting increasingly complicated, I couldn’t break up with her so easily. So even if it were just to delay this matter for two years in the worst-case scenario, it would be good.
However, she was unwilling to accept this now.
“Do you want to have dinner with me tomorrow night? This is the most sincere invitation. “I tried my best to look at her thoughtfully.
There were some things that I still needed her to know.
She hesitated. Then, she took out a phone from under her dress. Finally, I saw her turn on the recording mode.
“Honestly, I don’t know if I should still trust you. You should know that your credibility with me is still very low.” She was very calm.
“I didn’t do anything to deceive you.” I found it very strange. Why did she think that?
“Oh, really? I don’t think so. Of course, you can first give me the money if you want to increase your credibility.” She extended her hand to me.
So this was all she cared about? I was planning to give her the money after the banquet. However, I was expected to pay in advance now.
I tried my best to calm down and transferred the money to her. However, the moment her phone screen lit up, she almost jumped up.
“This should be enough, right?”
“Of course. This is enough for me to have a meal with you. Please let me know the time and place.” She looked at me with a smile.
I typed the information into my phone and sent them to her. She seemed much better. She made it clear that she needed to be paid for us to dance together, so I could only let her get away with it.
I wanted to send her back. However, that girl came here with her. I didn’t think it was an excellent decision to disturb their lives.
“You’re so pathetic, Atticus,” my wolf sneered.
“Who would think a pack’s Alpha would do such a thing?”
“Alright, you can say whatever you want. But I’ll be well prepared for this.” I gave up on arguing with it.
After Jude found out about this, he showed great interest. Even though I told him this had nothing to do with my marriage to Eloise, his expression showed that he didn’t think so.
“Do you need a bodyguard? After all, we’re in human territory, so maybe…”
“I don’t think there’s a need.” I thought about it and answered.
“But if I am not where I’m supposed to be for a long time, you know what to do.” Jude nodded. Before he could say anything, the phone suddenly rang.
“Mr. Hil, someone is waiting for you,” the waiter on the other side of the phone said.
Jude looked at me curiously.
Was she already at my residence? This was not realistic. However, I had to check it out. I had no choice but to go downstairs.
According to the waiter, the girl looking for me was now in the parking lot outside. However, when I arrived, there was only a man.
It was too late. The waiters around the area had all left for some reason.
“Where’s the girl who asked me to come?” I looked at him and clenched my fists.
“No, I was the one who called you here,” that person said in a low voice.
It was almost time for the date. I took a deep breath.
I didn’t want my image to deteriorate in Eloise’s eyes.
I could be sure that the person before me was definitely not human. It must be a werewolf who wanted to start a conflict. Very quickly, he charged toward me.
“Who sent you here?” I looked at the man and clutched his neck hard.
My limbs were heating up, indicating that my wolf was about to take over my body. But now was not a good time.
This was a human residential area. I couldn’t just turn into my wolf form. Otherwise, it would bring even more trouble.
“I’ll have to deal with this matter myself.” I immediately stopped it.
While I was distracted, that person got even closer.
The moment the silver dagger cut through my skin, I only had one thought.
[ was going to break my promise..
