Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 22
Chapter 22: An Unexpected Situation
Lisa’s POV:
“Miss, I think you might… “The servant stood by my bed and switched on the tablet in front of me.
“What? I’m not interested in the morning news,” I said impatiently. However, the first piece of news on the news website caught my attention.
Eloise participated in an exhibition held by this pack and successfully joined the Cotton Corporation. Unfortunately, her picture was there, and it only made me feel disgusted.
The news itself didn’t surprise me. After all, it wasn’t a position that could pose a threat to me. Instead, what surprised me was her necklace.
It was an antique, and I couldn’t get it even after much effort. Who had lent it to her?
“What is going on?” I angrily grabbed the pillow and threw it to the floor.
It was an antique from an auction house. It was so precious that no one could borrow it so easily; someone must have helped her.
But who could it be?
“Who did it?” I tried my best to make myself sound less angry.
It should have been on my neck when I went to the human territory to check on the construction of the amusement park. This thing should have shown off my temperament and capability. But now, she had it.
Now, almost everyone thought she was an important person.
“We can’t verify it yet, but it’s likely someone from the Cotton Corporation,” the servant said respectfully.
“Ha, that’s normal.” I almost bit the tip of my tongue.
Why did she get what I couldn’t get so easily?
Since I was young, I knew she was the most outstanding one. Back then, she was the daughter of an Alpha, and I was just her cousin. She had all the money and status, and all the spotlights were on her. I would have felt better if she was an ordinary person, but she has a talent for painting.
She had stolen everyone’s attention.
It wasn’t until my father became an Alpha that I felt this got a little better. After that, everyone would only look at me.
But I understood that they would still look at her that if I weren’t the daughter of an Alpha. So that was why I could only keep her away from all of this.
The phone suddenly rang. I impatiently signal for the servant to answer it. Of course, I knew it was my father, and his Alpha status was only snatched from my uncle. But that was not important. I knew Eloise would never receive all of my father’s love.
She could only live under my shadow for the rest of her life, even if she were stronger than me.
“What’s the matter?” I yawned.
“What else could it be?” He sounded furious.
“Keep your willfulness in check. Whether you like it or not, you’re still the Luna. By then, you can get everything you want. ”
Of course, I knew what he was planning. He wanted all of the Hil Pack’s wealth.
“Alright, I’ll reluctantly accept your plan.” I looked at the information I had.
I’d made up my mind now.
Atticus would definitely go to a human-inhabited area next. Even if I didn’t like it that much, I still had to go because this was a part of my becoming Luna.
There was a sudden commotion outside the door. That must be him. I quickly hung up and slowly got up.
I didn’t mind being his Luna for a short time if it were for Atticus’ money.
Just as I was thinking, he had just returned to this villa. Almost all the servants were surrounding him. He didn’t look too happy, but he was still generally normal. I walked over as usual. But surprisingly, he didn’t even greet me.
“Miss? You don’t look well.” Jude looked at me in surprise.
“I have a headache.” I looked at Atticus and spoke as weakly as I could.
I knew he would feel bad for me, just like he had always done in the past. That way, I would be able to receive something from him.
“But you are still beautiful.” He didn’t seem to be paying attention to me at all. He only gave a perfunctory answer while I continued to read the document in my hand.
This was not the answer I wanted.
I pretended to walk past him casually, but he didn’t even look at me..
