Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 20
Chapter 20: An Unexpected News
Eloise’ POV:
“So, I think you should get up.” Chloe stood before me.
“Let me rest …” I raised my hand and reached for my phone. The time shown on it made me jump out of bed as fast as possible.
This was my first day at work!
“Alright, but it doesn’t matter. After all, this place isn’t far from where you’re going.” She yawned and sat at the end of the bed. I looked out the window. A tall building not far away had the word ‘Cotton’ on it.
I was here mainly because I’d been invited to join a gaming company under the Cotton Corporation.
When I was young, I had no friends. The only thing that accompanied me was an old game console in the basement. I even lost it after I was adopted.
I reached the building as fast as I could. I was still very interested in these things. Being able to participate in the production of the game was amazing to me. I couldn’t leave them with any bad impression.
Someone quickly led me to the office. There, I saw a few of my peers I had met in the exhibition. Although I didn’t know their names, I knew their works.
“Why are we on this floor? It’s indeed a little lacking.” I heard the girl closest to me, Hannah, mutter softly.
“After all, this is only part of the company’s business… ” Another person not far away answered her.
But in my opinion, this office was already very good. So I put down the mouse and leaned back in my chair, looking at the sky helplessly.
On the front page of the company’s website, there was a promotional page for the amusement park that was going to be built in the Hil Pack territory. When I saw this name, I almost couldn’t control my emotions. When Chloe and I met up, I told her that Atticus might come to this city.
“He shouldn’t be able to see you. After all, you’re just some painter, not the designers of the amusement park.” Chloe looked at me worriedly.
“Of course, I hope so. That’s the best situation. As long as I can be separated from Atticus for long enough, I will be able to achieve my goal.
However, I had other concerns.
“No matter what, you’re off work now. You should eat something and then take a bath.
“Have you heard of the Black Moon Pack?” I asked her.
“I heard that we’ll be going there next month.”
“Of course. It was one of the oldest packs, and there are many relics there. So it’s inevitable that you guys might just pick up something,” she answered while looking at her phone.
“If I could, I don’t want to go.” I sighed. The Hil Pack was the most powerful among the werewolves. I was still considered their Luna, and that would bring me danger.
“But why did they build such an amusement park there? This sounded very strange.
Nevertheless, I want to go there and have fun.” I heard Hannah mumble not far from me.
I took the coffee cup and moved as carefully as possible in their direction.
I was curious too. After all, Atticus didn’t seem to be the type to like these things, and neither did his family.
“I heard the girl that the pack’s Alpha likes loves amusement parks, but because of her body condition, she can’t go too far, so he decided on this,” the person in front of her said.
“That’s amazing love.” The girl clasped her hands, her eyes full of envy.
“I wish I was that girl.”
I turned around. Who else could it be? He was talking about Lisa.
Lisa had loved these rides since she was young. But, when she was still in good health, her parents didn’t allow her to go too far. Now that her health was deteriorating, she was even more forbidden from leaving the house.
She was now living in Atticus’ pack because she was healthier, and the fact that he liked her so much.
I shouldn’t have had any expectations for this.
I sighed. My chest hurt as if a needle had pierced it.
“I should give them my blessings, right?” I held my face and muttered softly. After all, they were the ones who liked each other, which made me seem cruel.
“You still have two years.” Chloe patted my shoulder.
“You’ll be free after that.
