Eloise’s POV:
“Eloise? Oh, hello!” Chloe appeared from behind me. She greeted Soren warmly and explained why I had to leave. We quickly got into the car.
“Do you know him? He was now a very important figure in the Cotton family. Everyone knows him,” She muttered as she started the car.
“Not only do I know him.” I couldn’t hold on any longer and lay in the back seat. My four limbs were simply not my own.
“It was a very complicated experience.”
Before today, I was still injured to the point of near-death. Even if I’d become a werewolf for mysterious reasons, I wouldn’t recover immediately.
I felt as if my bones had been crushed, and the pain made me unable to move.
“I think I know. In that case, you shouldn’t have appeared here today.” Chloe’s voice was filled with pain.
“But this is my only chance.” I looked at my hand helplessly.
Atticus’ Hil Pack was extremely powerful, which meant that there was almost no other pack that could protect me. So coming here was my only choice.
Of course, I knew what I was doing for this, but the truth was that I didn’t have a better way.
“I don’t think there will be anything more embarrassing than what happened today.” I groaned as I turned over with difficulty.
“I think you might …” Her tone became strange.
“What?” I barely managed to raise my head.
On the other side of the parking lot, I saw Atticus.
The driver was Jude, and his entire face was flushed red. His eyes were empty, unlike his usual self. He just sat there waiting to leave, as obedient as a pet dog.
He suddenly turned to me. Looking into his eyes, I didn’t know what to say.
“Do you want to go over and take a look?” Chloe asked softly.
“The Hil Pack’s Alpha doesn’t look too good.”
Of course, I knew that something was wrong with him, but…
Jude started the car and sped away. I was very grateful to him for making this choice for me. But my wolf was still roaring in my mind.
‘No, there’s no need to care about them. You can just drive away.’ I almost couldn’t control my emotions. I gritted my teeth and replied to her.
My chest hurt as if someone had stabbed me with a knife, but I couldn’t go over. My future with him was over. That was all.
“Welcome home, my dear.” Chloe opened the door for me solemnly.
My luggage had already been transported here. Atticus’ men didn’t stop the moving company. I could even read from their voice messages that they were happy.
No one wanted me to leave his life more than they did. What I was doing now would make us feel relaxed.
“I made the right decision to leave that place.” I sighed as I quickly took off my suit. I changed into my pajamas and lay down on the sofa. I even felt like I was a part of the sofa.
“You did.” She nodded and pushed open another door.
“I think I should take you to see your room.”
I felt my life had never been as smooth as it was now. Now I lived in an apartment in the city center, and the only thing I could see was the colorful neon lights outside the window. In front of me was the desk I had always wanted.
This was something I’d never enjoyed in the Hil Pack. There, it was as if I had no use other than being a blood donor.
I collapsed on the bed.
“I think I can sleep now,” I muttered as I buried my face in the pillow.
“Of course, the day can’t end so simply!” She took out a bottle of champagne from the wine cabinet and handed me a bouquet.
“To celebrate you, joining the single life.”
Chloe raised her glass at me. The wine glasses in our hands clinked.
I felt extremely relaxed. The life that truly belonged to me was about to begin..
