Atticus’ POV:
Eloise went shopping. According to her, she needed to buy new drawing equipment. With my suggestion, she brought two bodyguards to protect her safety.
Even though my wolf kept howling, hoping I could go with her, I didn’t do so because I didn’t want to hurt our fragile trust anymore.
Even though I was in a relationship with Eloise, I didn’t care much about her private life. Based on my experience, I knew this would only worsen our relationship.
Besides, I had more things to worry about.
My parents were already trying to stop my career. Even though we all knew this was not good for our families, they would not back down in the face of greater benefits.
But for the time being, I was not completely unable to survive. It was not the final moment yet. It was not the time for me to give up yet.
I stayed in my room, quietly looking at my computer. I was dealing with those terrible things. In fact, many things were just warnings from my parents. It wasn’t to the point where I couldn’t handle it. But I also knew my plan should be brought forward.
I’d thought about getting engaged to Eloise. And I hoped the engagement ceremony would be as grand as possible, so everyone would realize that I was making some decisions and not just a poor puppet listening to other people’s suggestions.
Even though that was another troublesome matter, I believed it would solve this problem forever. However, my relationship with Eloise hadn’t recovered to that stage yet. If I wanted to do that, I would need to sign a supplementary agreement with her. And I was not sure if we could reach a consensus on this.
This was something that made people feel uncomfortable.
If it weren’t for the fact that I couldn’t find a more suitable person, I wouldn’t want to discuss this with Eloise anymore.
The doorbell rang. One of the residents here had come to find me in private.
So, it was very likely Eloise because if it were someone else, they would at least choose a more polite way.
But would she do that? I wasn’t sure, but I walked up and opened the door.
I hoped it was her because at least it proved that she could accept my help in some small matters. But the moment I opened the door, I was disappointed.
But even so, I tried my best to appear calm. Because I, as an Alpha, couldn’t express my emotions so openly.
It was Lisa. She looked very sad, and there were even tears on her face. She was wearing a white dress, which reminded me of her time in bed.
She always looked like she was easily injured.
I didn’t understand why she was still here. After what happened yesterday, I thought she would leave.
But to be precise, she was not here for me. She was here for Eloise. I noticed how disappointed she was when she saw me.
“Atticus? Is Eloise here?” she asked carefully.
I felt sorry that I didn’t notice her strangeness before. She was indeed that kind of person, but before this, I thought she was the one who had saved me.
But now, it seemed that she was not a good person.
I’d heard some of the things she’d done over the years.
But no one would ever be suspicious of her because she looked so fragile, and she was the daughter of an Alpha.
The part that had already been proven was enough for me to reject this marriage.
I thought the matter between us had already ended. I tried to sound as friendly as possible.
“We don’t have to be in contact anymore.”
I didn’t want to be involved with her anymore.
“No, don’t treat me as some strange person. I just want to talk to you.” She sighed slightly.
It seemed like she had finally thought of something to say to me..
