Eloise’s POV:
My phone rang. I looked at it and chose to ignore it.
I assumed they were probably Hil Pack’s people. They might offer me some conditions and ask me to leave Atticus.
But since he didn’t come to me, I didn’t think he was sincere enough. I couldn’t be sure if this call were real or not.
However, I suddenly realized I had received a lot of notifications on my phone.
Many people found my profile page because of the gossip and expressed dissatisfaction.
This will soon affect the game project I was in. I knew this all too well.
I was about to tell my colleagues about this, but before I could do anything, I received a call from Chloe.
She worriedly asked me if I was okay.
I knew that she was a legal officer of the Cotton Corporation after all. She must have come to ask about something. Be it as a friend or a colleague; it was still the same thing.
“I know what you’re going to say… I’m going to quit the project.” I helplessly covered my eyes and wailed.
“The current situation is not something I can control.”
“Don’t be sad. You’ve already taken care of those things,” said Chloe, who sounded very worried.
“It’s useless even if I delete it. They’ve already started to look at me this way. The best solution is for me to stop participating in those projects,” I said helplessly. “Of course, I know these things can be clarified, but what’s the use of that?”
I could only do this before I incur even more significant losses.
However, there were still some things I needed to clarify with Atticus.
I hung up and walked to the door of Atticus’ room. Just as I was about to knock on the door, it was opened from the inside. Atticus’ hair dripped with water, and I almost walked into him.
He was only wearing a nightgown, and I could even see his abdominal muscles. His muscular lines had always been prominent. I knew that well.
I retreated in fear because I already felt something was wrong with the atmosphere. But this made him feel confused instead.
“Do you have something to say?” It seemed like he didn’t know anything about this.
I took a deep breath.
“Don’t misunderstand. I can accept that this is how our relationship is.
However, there is another problem.”
I looked up at him. I didn’t want to hear him say anything else. I knew this wasn’t the right way to go about it, but I still mustered my courage.
“Why did you get engaged with Lisa? And why did you find me in this situation?” I stared at him, my eyes filled with tears.
He looked at me calmly. I couldn’t read his expression, but I didn’t think he would give me the answer I wanted.
“That’s just what my parents think, and I’ll do something about this. You don’t have to worry too much. You have to know that I can make my own decision in the end.” He looked at me and quickly replied.
This was an appropriate way of saying it. Moreover, no one knew what choice he would make in the end.
I was starting to despair.
I returned to my room and lay on my bed.
I believed I’d thought too well of him. He probably came back to find me because he had no other choice. After all, not many people could agree to his request now.
I looked at the latest news. I’d found the problem.
It was about how close Atticus and Lisa were and what they had done together.
Almost everything that had happened was proof of how strong their love was.
The reporter who dug out all this was indeed good at their job, but I must admit that he didn’t do it alone with Lisa. At least I was around.
Therefore, this could not prove anything.
However, this proved that everyone in the Hil Pack wanted them to be together. This was different from my situation.
When I got married, I was sent over as a substitute..
