Eloise’s POV:
Due to the agreement, I must stay in the same suite as Atticus. The only good thing was that we lived in different rooms.
Even though I still felt uncomfortable at this distance, he didn’t seem to mind. And he acted so naturally as if I didn’t exist.
I fell asleep very quickly. When I woke up again, I heard him coughing.
I opened my eyes. Atticus appeared and pushed his tablet to my face. I realized that I didn’t lock the door last night.
“Take a look at it, and then get up,” he said to me, then pulled a chair and sat by the bed.
“You should knock,” I muttered as I leaned against the bed slowly. I have to admit that I did sleep better here.
“I’ve paid for the room, so it’s nothing.”
I couldn’t refute him when he said that. So I could only lower my head and continue reading the computer’s contents.
It was an unremarkable piece of gossip. After all, with Atticus’ status, his family was already at the center of attention.
This meant that someone was already aware of our relationship.
“What do you think of this?” Atticus looked at me.
“Have you thought about what you should do next?”
Was he waiting for my response? His expression reminded me of my former teacher, but I suppressed these emotions instantly.
“This is what we should do.” I pondered for a moment before answering seriously.
No matter his reason for asking me about this, I was very grateful.
Now, I was starting to consider this question seriously.
“Of course, and this means that more problems will arise.” Atticus put down his tablet and looked at me seriously.
“I hope you can be prepared for this. First, if anyone comes looking for you, at least tell me what they say.”
I didn’t answer, but I knew it was true. Even with my limited experience, I could guess it.
However, even though he told me that, I still felt I couldn’t completely listen to him. After all, I was not his accessory.
We should go to the beach to bask in the sun and surf according to our schedule. So, I quickly changed my clothes. Atticus still had some work that couldn’t be delayed, so I waited for him by the bed.
However, I saw an unexpected figure downstairs.
Lisa was standing there, looking as if she had just arrived in the area and was waiting for someone to help her with her luggage.
She didn’t look like she was here to bask in the sun because she had put on sufficient sunblock. She was holding an umbrella and looked like she didn’t belong there.
I didn’t know why she was here, but I knew that everything would turn worse when she appeared. I pretended not to see her, turned around, and looked at Atticus.
He did not seem to know about Lisa’s presence because his expression was still as calm as before. These jobs weren’t important, or he’d avoid me.
I didn’t understand these things, so I could only sit down and continue to look at my phone worriedly.
After a few hours, the news on the internet changed.
They were all blaming me for seducing Atticus and affecting his life even after we divorced. This was because Lisa was going to be officially engaged to him soon.
However, Atticus never told me about this.
So why did he sign that agreement with me? I didn’t want to be the victim of his battle with his ‘pack’, and I didn’t want to confront Lisa again now. I was still very grateful to her parents. After all, they had taken me in under pressure.
However, this was also the only dignity I had left.
At that moment, my phone suddenly rang. This sudden sound scared me so much that I almost shrieked, but I still tried my best to calm down.
I looked at the unfamiliar number on the screen and wasn’t sure if I should answer it. I was sure there was a high chance it was because of what happened with Atticus.
Fortunately, Atticus was no longer by my side. Otherwise, I would have gone crazy..
