Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 122
Chapter 122: I’ve Changed My Mind
Atticus’ POV:
“I don’t know,” I answered honestly and turned to look at the door of Eloise’s ward.
At this distance and with Jude’s gentle tone, I didn’t think she could hear what we were talking about. This realization made me feel less nervous.
Jude looked at me and sighed again. She then lowered her head and continued to look at her phone.
“Alright. There are no more questions. We can leave now.” He heaved a sigh of relief.
I knew that the work I gave him would not have any problems.
Before today, I planned to give Eloise a sum of money so she would agree to break off the relationship with me. This was the decision I made when I stayed with the Cotton family.
But now, I suddenly felt she didn’t seem worthy of my compensation. She wanted too much, so I didn’t want to give her anything. Or rather, I felt she might want more after she got something from me.
No matter what happened, I didn’t want to see it happen.
I followed him into the elevator.
Before the elevator doors closed, I looked toward Eloise’s ward.
She should have woken up by now. I could feel the fluctuations. I had to admit that this was indeed useful, but it didn’t seem to be a good thing to keep it to connect with my mate. However, if I were to break this off now forcibly
No matter what, I didn’t think there would be any more problems. Although it would bring temporary pain, it was good for both of us.
I stopped him from pressing the button.
He looked up at me in surprise.
“Wait a minute. I think I should still end things with her.” I quickly organized my thoughts and looked at my phone.
I was sure. The current situation was bizarre.
This news had already started to ferment, and soon my parents would receive the news. If that were the case, I wouldn’t be able to avoid fighting with her again.
I didn’t dare to think about it anymore. I had to get rid of it as soon as possible. I turned around and returned to Eloise’s room.
Just as I thought, she had awakened. The sun shone on her, making her look much better than before. I wanted to greet her, but it was unnecessary when there were other people around. That would bring additional trouble.
Sitting beside her was a girl named Chloe. The makeup on her face had already melted, which proved that she had arrived almost immediately.
Chloe’s expression turned terrible the moment she saw me. It was as if she wanted to kick me out, but I wasn’t afraid of an ordinary werewolf like her. I only took one look at her , and she took a step back in fear, guarding Eloise behind her.
“I won’t do anything to her. You’re too vigilant,” I said to her with a smile.
“Is that so?” Even though she looked like she was trembling, she was still facing me like a wolf, ready to pounce at me.
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with her.
“When you recover, I’ll discuss some things with you.” I turned to Eloise and returned to my cold expression.
“Now I’m looking for you to discuss those things. I don’t think it aligns with an
Alpha’s formal standards.”
After all, her body was already in such a state.
I still couldn’t harden my heart. This was fatal. However, in the mate connection case, this empathy that shouldn’t exist was just too ordinary.
“You don’t have to act like this. If you have any questions, ask them directly, right?” Eloise looked up at me.
So I could only look at her and think about how I should answer her.
I suddenly realized that her expression was completely different from before.
In the past, when she looked at me, her eyes held a different kind of light. But now, that feeling had completely disappeared.
“If you want to break the mate connection, talk to me as soon as possible while I still have time.” Eloise only looked at me coldly, which was rare.
It was as if I needed her to help me break the connection.
I couldn’t accept this..
