Chapter 121: I Can’t Ignore Her
Atticus’ POV:
I stood in the ward and looked at Eloise lying on the bed.
She was breathing steadily, and I could barely hear her breathing amid the noise from the instruments. However, I could still feel her heartbeat.
I didn’t know how much time had passed, but her eyes started to move under her eyelids. It was a sign that she was waking up. At that moment, I quickly walked out of the ward.
The peace of mind I felt from the mate connection also reminded me that her condition had stabilized.
It was time for me to leave. Her current condition wouldn’t affect me anymore.
However, I still needed to understand her situation. So, I walked into the doctor’s office.
“Perhaps she doesn’t realize it, but the truth is, Ms. Cotton’s mental state isn’t that ideal,” the doctor told me.
I wasn’t used to her new identity, so I was stunned for a moment. The doctor looked at me more seriously and pointed to a specific part of Eloise’s X-ray film.
“The feeling of being abandoned by one’s mate is terrible for any werewolf. She probably hasn’ t had a good night’s sleep in a long time.”
This was the part that was related to me.
I wanted to answer, but I couldn’t say anything.
She was hiding from me. This knowledge made me feel a little strange. She would not have done this if she were already facing such a terrible situation.
But she was still avoiding me.
I returned to the ward and looked at Eloise lying quietly on the bed. I only noticed that she looked a little thinner than before, and even her eyes had turned blue and black. This was indeed a sign of overvvork.
“But when she is with you, she is worse than now,” my wolf said rudely.
‘You just didn’t notice that before.”
I wanted to explain myself, but after carefully thinking about it, I realized it was indeed the truth. Before I could say this, she came to her senses.
She opened her eyes and met my gaze.
“I didn’t know that your body was so weak,” I said, but that wasn’t what I wanted to say.
“Yes, that’s why I made an appointment with a doctor. I wanted to get it checked after the party.” She looked as if she was talking about something that had nothing to do with her and was very calm.
I couldn’t understand her attitude.
“But, Alpha Atticus, don’t you need to leave now?” She seemed to have thought of something and looked up.
“No, I can’t just leave like this because there are already rumors,” I answered her seriously.
This was the reason I was still here. I needed my beta Jude to help me deal with this first/ Otherwise, I couldn’t leave. There was nothing I could not tell Eloise.
After all, with her current status, she would know something similar.
Just as I expected, her expression changed a little.
‘Yes, after all, I used this method to force you to marry me, didn’t I?” She looked at me as if she was saying something that had nothing to do with her.
