Chapter 120: The Function Of The Mate Connection

Atticus’ POV:
Even though many people and werewolves invited me, I didn’t find a dance partner because dancing was boring.
I didn’t want my parents to think I had feelings for anyone else because they would probably think I wanted them to marry me.
So, I could only stand on the sidelines and look out the window.
I could see they were busy, and I knew they would release fireworks later. But that had nothing to do with me. I only had to stand here, watch the show, and then go through another social event.
A familiar smell appeared, and I subconsciously looked up. For some reason, Eloise was standing on the balcony, looking as if she could not breathe.
I was always worried that she’d fall straight down.
But why would I be worried about her? This was unnecessary. I didn’t want to pay any more attention to her.
I heard someone screaming. Something must have happened. I washed my head and saw Eloise falling from the balcony.
It was almost an instinctive reaction because I was already on the balcony by the time I reacted.
I was standing on a platform that was only half a floor lower than her. This required extreme speed, but I still managed to grab her.
This impact made the injury on my shoulder even more serious, and it was also because of this that I didn’t participate in the so-called trial now. It wasn’t until I dragged her back to the balcony that I felt the pain, but that was no longer important. The people still surrounding us were screaming, but because they were too close to us, the medical staff couldn’t even squeeze into the crowd.
I continued to look at her.
She seemed to have fainted, which was probably related to her emotions. She probably hadn’t had a good rest in a long time, so it was normal for her to faint from such a shock.
However, her heartbeat was stable. At least she won’t be in any dangerous situation. I didn’t have to consider whether I should press on her chest or give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. I heaved a sigh of relief and sat down beside her.
More and more people gathered around her, but the shadow that pushed her from behind had disappeared.
To be more precise, it was not a shadow but a man in a cloak.
It was typical to wear a cloak in the current weather, not to mention a dance party here.
Some of them were indeed in masks. They were kids from different packs who had never exposed their real identities on this occasion. However, these were not important anymore. What was important was that that person had completely disappeared.
He must be very familiar with this family.
‘Just send her to the hospital.” I heard people around me talking.
I raised my head. I didn’t know who that person was, but I was sure I’d seen him. He was wearing glasses and a proper suit, but I was sure he was not used to this occasion.
I didn’t want to talk to him.
I had a feeling that if I left her now and allowed her to go to the hospital, no one would care about her anymore.
I’d already noticed that Soren was so busy that he couldn’t even care for her. Without Soren, she was like an invisible person. No one would care about her.
I was still worried about her.
I could get out of this predicament if she were to die now. But I still…
I didn’t think she should die here. At least not.
“I’ll go with you all.” I heard myself say. I wouldn’t leave her until she completely woke up.
“She looks fine, right? This level of collision is not a big deal to a werewolf,” the boy continued. Although his words sounded strange, my instinct told me he was on Eloise’s side. He was also guarding this place to prevent anyone from approaching.
It wasn’t until some medical personnel was here that he followed me and sent Eloise into the ambulance. We were squeezed together, but he still didn’t show any expression.
‘Yup,” I answered.
“But the mate connection won’t force you to fall in love with her.” His words were starting to make me feel uncomfortable.
“Some things are in your hands.”
I saw the boy wave his hand at Soren, looking out of the window, and then turn to look at me nonchalantly.
As expected, they were on the same side..
