Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 117
Chapter 117: Reunion
Atticus’ POV:
I had never expected to meet anyone in the Cotton family who was worthy of a proper conversation. After all, I was here on vacation.
That was why my attitude toward the people here was calm.
At the same time, I worked hard to deal with the previous matters.
But to my surprise, I hadn’t even seen Eloise the whole time.
To my surprise, Brook, one of the two people I’d met before and who could help me, was also there. After we met, we started discussing the trials.
There were still some details that we needed to confirm, and we hadn’t fully communicated how we should cooperate. Only after I’d confirmed all of this would I dare to proceed with my next step.
We walked to the garden together. It was very quiet there. No one could disturb us.
However, when I saw Eloise, I suddenly felt I should not let her know. So, we stood in a more hidden place to avoid her.
Brook didn’t seem to notice this at all, or perhaps he did notice it but didn’t tell me.
When Soren walked further in her direction, I felt even more confident that there was no need to get closer. It was as if something was stuck in my chest, making me unable to breathe. Even breathing became painful.
Did she consider this situation when she married me? But what good did it do for her? As expected, the mate connection couldn’t give anyone what he wanted!
‘You’re afraid that she’ll be worried about you?” my wolf spoke as if it was smiling.
‘You’ve reached this point, so there’s no need to worry. Or are you just jealous?” The question it asked was enough to make me angry.
“I won’t have that kind of feeling.” I tried my best to adjust my mood. After all, this was the only mate connection left between us. But if I could ignore its influence, then…
“If you say it won’t, then it won’t,” my wolf muttered and then closed its mouth.
I turned my head and continued to look at Brook. But I was sure that my current expression wasn’t very good.
‘We still hope to receive your help.” Brooks expression worsened. He just looked at me like he was begging.
I could help them become a pack who owned the Wolf King again so they won’t reject me. I was very clear about this. But I also knew they were not as easy to talk to as they looked.
“Or rather, I’m the one who’s hoping for your help.” I sighed.
To be able to gain their approval was helping myself. I could already imagine that if I could get them to promise me that, I would get everything I wanted.
Then, I could control my own life.
I didn’t expect Eloise to be here at this time. She walked over with a surprised expression but quickly recovered her composure.
This seemed much better than before.
“She is a member of this family. Have you forgotten?” my wolf was screaming.
‘Why can’t she be here, especially when she has already gained some recognition? ”
Of course, I knew this, but I couldn’t believe it.
It was just because I hadn’t seen her for a while, so I subconsciously thought she wouldn’t do it this time.
I suddenly realized a terrifying fact. Perhaps the essence was that I didn’t believe she would have the same status as me.
I should re-examine her now. She’d be my mate or perhaps my enemy. But I didn’t think she would talk to me in a friendly manner.
When she stood before me, I tried my best to remain calm and exchanged a few words with her. Her expression didn’t seem to change. She walked over calmly.
It was as if she didn’t know me at all.
How was that possible? This made me feel extremely embarrassed..
