Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 110
Chapter 110: Her Identity
Eloise’s POV:
Even though the worst of my problems had been dealt with, I was still restricted in some way. Even though the people from the Cotton family say that this was to protect me, I didn’t think so.
I knew this was a warning for the things I’d done recently. But I could understand. After all, I’d indeed brought danger to the family.
Mrs. Cotton looked at me, her eyes filled with worry. That expression made it seem as if she was an elder of mine.
Of course, she was, but I didn’t remember her anymore.
“I understand. I won’t do anything rash.” I tried my best to show sincerity. I didn’t know how to comfort her, so I could only sincerely tell her about the situation.
“I know, poor child. I know you’ve been through all that…” she hugged me and cried.
I understood that her sadness was genuine. I was a werewolf; I could sense it.
‘We won’t say whether you’re right or wrong, but no matter what happens, we’ll always be here,” she finally said.
That was right. This was her family, and she should do this. Even though this feeling was unfamiliar, I still tried to accept it. I should take responsibility, which I couldn’t avoid right now.
I saw some documents. They were still discussing my marriage. Mrs. Cotton also explained some rumors to me. Many people still wanted me to marry
Atticus.
I knew that it was inevitable, but at the same time, I also knew that it was impossible.
‘We need to think of a way to solve this. This matter must be resolved as soon as possible.” She seemed to be worried.
I couldn’t ask for a specific reason, but I could feel that she was very sad.
I couldn’t leave the Atticus’ familyrs territory until this was resolved entirely. However, I was allowed to investigate the vampire hunter.
I arrived at the scene of the accident. Just like what Chloe said, the place was a mess. Even though it had been carefully cleaned up, I could still smell the faint smell of gunpowder.
This was very normal. After all, I was still a werewolf and had a sense of smell beyond human.
It was a carefully camouflaged explosion, and silver bullets were scattered on the ground.
All of this indicated that this seemed to be the doing of a vampire. Silver’s bullets were only effective against vampires and werewolves, and if it were the werewolves, we wouldn’t be so anxious.
However, this was not right. I didn’t know why I felt this way, but I knew something was wrong.
I looked around. Even though I couldn’t tell where the mistake was, I felt this wasn’t a scene caused by the vampire I had met before.
Vampires had enormous wings. If they were attacked at night or at a very dark time, they would be head-first and head-down, unlike now, where they just opened their mouths on the ground and pounced.
I even saw gunshots from both sides, which meant that the vampires were also using guns. Such a scene might be even harder to predict than winning the lottery.
That was why I thought there might be other circumstances.
“The family of those vampires took them away… Are they from the White family? Or is it something else…” The few inspector-like men started to chat.
“That must be the case since it’s the closest to here. The vampires don’t like to go too far. They have their territory.”
I tried my best to get close to them to listen the things they said.
However, that was not the case. I knew the situation better than they did.
“No, I don’t think they’re vampires.” I looked up and answered quickly.
Evidently, they didn’t want to hear what I had to sayu Their expressions were contemptuous, but I didn’t care. I’d seen this kind of expression many times in the past. I squatted down and continued to sniff the ground.
“Quit it. She’s from that family.” I heard someone trying to stop the inspector, but their voices had already reached the decibel I could hear. I didn’t want to continue paying attention to them, so I continued to check the situation around me.
I could understand that even so, they won’t believe me. Only a person like Soren could convince them. But I had to try. I took a deep breath and picked up a wooden board on the ground. There was a clear trajectory on it.
I kicked the wooden board up and showed it to them. I knew these people didn’t know I was a werewolf who wasn’t afraid of silver. They only thought that I was an ordinary human.
But they had to see this wooden board. The shot was not from the original direction but from the outside, which meant that someone was holding a gun from the outside.
Vampires would never do this, which meant that the people outside were humans.
It must be a conspiracy.
I felt the temperature around me drop.
This was a scene I didn’t want to face..
