Alpha's Substitute Bride - Chapter 108
Chapter 108: What Belonged To Me
Eloise’s POV:
“In the end, the Cotton family still held a press conference for me. So I had to stay here and explain everything I’d experienced to them.
I stood there and looked at the people below the stage. I suddenly realized that these things belonged to me. I talked about the script and ideas I had prepared in advance, calmly dealing with all the situations.
It was a great feeling, something I’d never experienced before.
I took a deep breath and tried my best to narrate my recent encounters while showing my weakness calmly. Of course, those weren’t my fault, but no one could bear the fact that I had to suffer such an experience.
Gradually, the questions down there were no longer as intense as before. Finally, Finally, I felt like I had found myself. And then, it was time for me to leave the stage.
“As an Alpha’s daughter, these are the worlds you should have come into contact with,” Soren told me this before we left the venue.
His eyes were filled with worry. However, in general, he seemed to be encouraging me.
“I was worried that you would be affected, but it seems your condition is better than I thought.”
Of course, I’d already experienced worse things before. I sighed and only looked at him with an awkward smile.
“Don’t forget what kind of life I’ve been through. Forget it. That’s not important.”
He didn’t say anything more and just put his hand on my shoulder and patted it gently. Then, he turned around and walked onto the stage.
I turned around and returned to my seat.
His performance was better than mine, so of course, I understood. This was his job. I felt a burning gaze on me as if that person had some sort of hatred toward me. However, when I turned my head, I didn’t see anyone.
“This is terrifying. We’ll have to find this person sooner or later my wolf commented.
“But I really can’t think of anyone who could have such hatred for you.”
“I don’t understand either.” I shook my head and clapped along with the others.
A little later, I saw the press conference on a streaming website.
I looked at myself on the screen and couldn’t believe I could be the person I was today after a few days of training. But no matter what, I’d already reached the required level.
I only had to stand there and clarify that I had nothing to do with this. As for my previous emotional state, I thought it was private, and there was no need to tell them at all.
This had brought too much trouble, but fortunately, no one would pursue this now.
Everyone was paying attention to something more important.
Compared to a game, the Alpha gathering was more important. It wasn’t just the werewolves paying attention to it; all the humans were also curious about it. As the time of its event drew closer, I had to decide whether I should go or not quickly.
“What do you think will happen if I don’t go to the Alpha gathering?” I asked my wolf. It almost howled out of the blue but quickly returned to normal.
“Are you worried about your safety?”
“Not quite,” I answered it. I’m more worried those people won’t be able to accept the information I’m about to share. But no matter what, I’ll still slowly share what I have with everyone. At least, I won’t let it suddenly slap them in their faces.
Someone suddenly called me. I thought about it and picked it up. It sounded like it was from Atticus. He only asked me one question, ‘Will you go to the Alpha gathering?”
“I’m not going,” I said calmly.
“No, I’m just wondering if you don’t dare to do so.” His voice sounded icy over the phone.
I wanted to refute him, but I suddenly realized it was unnecessary.
What was he thinking? He was the one going, so why did I have to argue with him about what was right or wrong? After all, I no longer had any relationship with him.
“Thank you very much for the help you’ve given me before, but if you must put it this way, I don’t think I’ll accept your suggestion,” I answered him calmly.
I heard a beeping sound from the receiver. He had hung up..
