“What are you so happy about? Tell me,” Qiao Mei asked.
“I’m just wondering if Old Mr. Huang would be angered to death by you. The words that come out of your mouth are really sharp enough,” Xia Wen said in admiration.
Qiao Mei looked at Xia Wen in disdain and said, “Don’t accuse me wrongly. You were the one who made him so angry. I didn’t say anything.”
“I just can’t help it. He thinks that just because we are juniors, we don’t know about what happened in the past and he can spout nonsense and slander Grandfather,” Xia Wen said angrily.
Qiao Mei nodded in agreement. She and Xia Wen were brought up by their grandfathers. Their feelings for their grandfathers ran even deeper than for their parents. They would never allow anyone to criticize or slander their grandfathers and were willing to do anything to defend that.
Although they made it sound as if they had everything under control in front of the Huang family, it was still difficult to get Tan Jing convicted in real life. They still had to think of a way to make Tan Jing confess to her deeds.
Zou Ming listed Tan Jing as a key suspect and brought her to the military interrogation room. Xia Wen stood at the one-way glass window and looked at Tan Jing sitting inside the interrogation room without saying anything.
“Xiao Wen, you’re here,” Xia Xiu said solemnly.
Xia Wen saluted Xia Xiu and said, “That’s right, Eldest Aunt. It’s been a long time since we last met.”
“You…” Xia Xiu did not know if Xia Wen still had any feelings left for Tan Jing. After all, she had never asked about such family matters. She was not sure if Xia Wen was just going through the motions or if he wanted to go all out on Tan Jing.
“Eldest Aunt, you can conduct the interrogation however you want. Use whatever method you need to make her confess,” Xia Wen said expressionlessly.
Seeing that Xia Wen had completely let go of this past relationship, Xia Xiu felt calmer. She waved her hand to ask the young boy behind her to come forward and said, “This is my new disciple.”
“Hello, Senior! My name is Wu Jun!” Wu Jun said cheerfully.
Xia Wen hurriedly waved his hands and said, “Technically, I’m not Eldest Aunt’s disciple. All I did was ride on her coattails because I’m her relative. You can call me Big Brother Xia.”
“Then… then I’ll listen to Big Brother Xia!” Wu Jun said openly.
Xia Wen quite liked this kid and could understand why Xia Xiu decided to take in a disciple again at her age. He heard that she valued this kid the most and that he was her last disciple. She intended to teach him all her skills.
Xia Xiu was advanced in age and rarely conducted interrogations personally anymore. She did not want to take in any more disciples and spent most of her time guiding the top-notch talents. However, she would only discuss the issues but would not spend time on providing solutions. She acted more like a superior inspecting the ranks.
Xia Xiu met Wu Jun by coincidence. When she was on a work trip in Guang City, she stayed near the military district which was under the charge of a regiment commander. Wu Jun, who was always with the regiment commander, immediately caught her eye. At that time, Wu Jun was the regiment commander’s secretary.
Wu Jun had a photographic memory and was very meticulous. He displayed clear logic in everything he did and also had very strong anti-reconnaissance abilities. He was always in the top three during martial arts sparring sessions. Xia Xiu did not understand why such an outstanding person was willing to be a lowly secretary of a regiment commander. This was simply a waste of his talent!
Hence, Xia Xiu made some exchanges with the regiment commander so that she could bring Wu Jun to the capital for training.
“There’s not much time left. I’ll go in for the interrogation. Don’t worry, Big Brother Xia. I’ll definitely settle this small matter beautifully for you!” After saying that, Wu Jun walked into the interrogation room confidently.
Tan Jing raised her head and looked at Wu Jun. She had been to the interrogation room twice and it was always Xia Wen who interrogated her. She did not know why it was this unfamiliar guy today.
“Where’s Xia Wen?” Tan Jing questioned.
“We don’t need Big Brother Xia to interrogate you. I can do it,” Wu Jun said.
“I want Xia Wen! I want Xia Wen to come and see me! I have to see Xia Wen!” Tan Jing struggled and shouted. Fortunately, she was cuffed to the chair. Otherwise, she would definitely have started fighting with Wu Jun by now.
Wu Jun massaged his ears impatiently. He had seen so many people who needed to be interrogated, but this was the first one who was so noisy. It was a pity that he could not use interrogation tools. Tan Jing was still a suspect and he could only carry out basic interrogations.
“Stop shouting. You’d better come clean and tell me everything you know. If you do that, I’ll put in a recommendation for leniency,” Wu Jun said.
“Haha, I didn’t do anything. There’s nothing for me to say,” Tan Jing said disdainfully.
“At this point, do you think it’s what you say that’s important? Even if you don’t say anything, you’ll still be put under surveillance and you won’t be able to leave the capital. If your refusal to be forthright causes a lot of manpower and resources to be wasted on your case, it’s very likely that you’ll get additional punishment,” Wu Jun said.
“I don’t know anything. If you want to solve the case, then go and run the investigation. Don’t waste your time on me,” Tan Jing said calmly.
