Her eyes looked slightly puffy and red. She probably cried a lot last night.
Soon after, Niu Hongxia came in. She swept a glance over and said, “Lin Qingyu, your right to be selected as an outstanding employee has been revoked. The reason being that you insulted your superior!”
Lin Qingyu lowered her head, her hands tightly gripping her lapels as tears dripped down.
It seemed like the department chief intended to attack her directly.
Seeing her tears, Niu Hongxia snorted. “Since you knew that this would happen, why did you still do it? If you want to continue, you should watch your mouth. If you don’t want to, there are a lot of people lining up to enter the publicity department.”
With that, she turned around and left.
Lin Qingyu gritted her teeth, unable to say a word for a long time. When she finally calmed down, she saw Su Hanyan looking at her, and her heart was instantly filled with vexation. She snarled, “What are you looking at? What’s there to see!”
Su Hanyan laughed dryly. “You’re right. There’s nothing to see about your pitiful state.”
“Don’t gloat over my misfortune! Even though Niu Hongxia treats you well now, who knows what she might do to you in the future? What happened to me today could happen to you tomorrow!”
She gave a slight smile. “Don’t worry. The day you’re looking forward to will never come. Our chief is a person who can distinguish right from wrong, and she’ll never wrong anyone. On the contrary, I feel that if we follow her, there’ll be a bright future ahead of us!”
“Dream on!” Lin Qingyu went silent. Niu Hongxia came in with a thermos of hot water and coincidentally heard her again.
She looked approvingly at Su Hanyan before turning to stare at the other with a dark expression. “It seems like you can’t change your bad habit. This place isn’t really suitable for you!”
Lin Qingyu paled. What was wrong with her today? She was so unlucky.
Su Hanyan stood up and smiled. “Chief Niu, the theme of our next blackboard report is helping others and doing good deeds. I’m going to the workshop to gather information!”
“Sure, go ahead.”
The moment she exited the office, the chilling northwest wind felt like a knife slicing at her face. She tightened the scarf around her neck and was about to leave for the workshop when she saw her superior chasing her.
“Hanyan, the security guard called to say that your family is waiting for you at the entrance of the factory.”
“Got it. Thank you, chief.”
She kept her hands in her pockets as she walked out, wondering if something had happened at home. It was her misfortune to have this family and she could choose to ignore them.
However, there was one person whom she could not ignore.
That person was Su Dajiang.
He was a competent father whom the original owner loved and respected dearly. If something happened to him, she naturally had to go.
Unexpectedly, when Su Hanyan arrived at the entrance of the factory, she saw Su Jingheng waiting for her at the entrance.
The Su family had four children, two boys and two girls. The third child, Su Jingrui, was a frivolous fellow, who did not have a decent job. Although he could be considered smart, he was selfish and did not seek to improve himself.
The oldest child was Su Jingheng. He was an honest man who was slow of speech and never sought trouble. However, he was a typically henpecked husband.
If his wife told him to go east, he would go east. If his wife told him to hit a dog, he would definitely not dare to catch a chicken.
He never bullied the original owner, but he never did anything for her, either. Although he was her elder brother, it was only in name. They did not share a close relationship.
After Su Hanyan transmigrated to the book, she did not have much interaction with this elder brother of hers.

“Yanyan.” Su Jingheng saw his sister walking out with her hands in her pockets and hurriedly went up to her.
“Brother.” Su Hanyan greeted him politely and distantly. “Is something the matter, for you to seek me during working hours?”
“Yes.” He got straight to the point. “Our dad misses you. Isn’t it Saturday tomorrow? He wants you to go home for a meal.”
“How’s our dad doing?”
“He’s doing pretty well. His postoperative recovery is quite good. We should be going to the hospital tomorrow to remove the stitches. He’s bound to make a full recovery after some rest.
“That’s good.” Once she understood the situation, she thought for a moment before politely rejecting the request. “Brother, I have something on tomorrow, so I won’t be going back for dinner. Help me look after dad.”
“It’s your day off tomorrow. What can you possibly have?” Before Su Jingheng came here, their father had told him that no matter what, he must bring his sister home for dinner. “Come home. The whole family misses you.”
She lowered her head and smiled.
Family? Not necessarily!
“Yanyan, I know that you had a fight with our mother and third brother because of work and marriage, but she’s still our mother and Jingrui is still your brother. What grudge can a family have against one another? Don’t you think so?” Su Jingheng was honest but not stupid. He knew why his sister did not want to come home.
“I really have something on.” Su Hanyan did not want to discuss this matter with him.
After all, this was not something that could be explained in a few sentences. Wei Guiqin had always favored men over women, and Su Jingrui even disliked her. This was not a fact that could be changed within a short time.
How could her messy family home compare to the harmonious factory dormitory?
She did not want to go back and get involved in the chaos.
“That won’t do, either. Our dad said that he’ll visit the hospital tomorrow to have the stitches removed. He wants you to go with him no matter what. Just say whether you’re going or not,” Su Jingheng said.
Su Hanyan bit her lower lip as she pondered.
“Stop thinking about it. Our dad really dotes on you; you’re all he talks about every day. Go back. Just treat it like I’m begging you, okay?”
“Alright, I’ll go back tomorrow.” Since her brother had already said as much, she did not want to disappoint their father. “Go back and tell dad that I’ll see him tomorrow.”
“Mm, that’s great! You return to work now as I’ll be leaving. There are still things to do at the factory. I just took this chance when I was out shopping to make a detour to you.”
“Got it. Be careful on your way.”
“Go back, go back.”
After Su Jingheng left, she returned to the factory and made a beeline for the various workshops to gather information.
It was a factory for tractor parts as its name implied.
The factory mainly produced parts, including vat sets, pistons, piston rings, axis tiles, et cetera, for tractor engines. Therefore, most of the workers in this factory were male, and female workers were few.
The one Su Hanyan entered was called the Pistons Workshop. Although it was winter and the cold wind outside was bitingly cold, the young people in the workshop were all working their arms out, sweating profusely.
There was a hundred-day deadline at year’s end. All the workers in the factory were working hard to get first place in terms of production. Apart from the generous bonus, it was an honor which they could be proud of if they managed to obtain it.
In the past, she had only seen such scenes of hard labor on TV, but now that she was facing it, she felt quite excited.
“Su Hanyan!”
As she was walking, a rough voice came from behind some buzzing machinery. She looked around and saw a young man walking out from the back. He had a buzz haircut and his face had grease smeared. He looked pretty handsome with his wild eyes.
