A Sorcerer's Journey - Chapter 637
Chapter 637: Hunting the Target VII
Moving beneath the Representation World, Grimm moved like a phantom in the night toward his target.
There were one or two Sorcerers passing by occasionally, but they could only sense the surficial world that was beyond reality. They were easily fooled by the Robe of Representations as they passed by Grimm’s shoulder.
Moving up the levels, some of the defense mechanisms were not even operating. It was obvious that these mechanisms had only been operational during the initial design phase of the Sorcerer Tower. After that, they were long abandoned, forgotten by the Sorcerers of the Shadow Argus Academy who made it a habit to overlook the tiny details.
Moments later, Grimm reached the 58th floor of the Shadow Argus’s Sorcerer Tower.
The target’s here!
Grimm’s sharp nose could smell the stench of Little Myna’s scat even when separated by the huge door of the laboratory. For an ordinary person though, the smell was unnoticeable.
How was he going to enter undetected?
There was a layer of magic interdictor on the laboratory door that was connected to the Mana Pool. His destruction spell was barely enough to destroy it, and the commotion that would follow would surely set the whole academy into full alert mode.
The only solution was to wait it out.
Surely, there would be some Sorcerers here to visit Kimraig. The Level-2 Demon-Hunter Sorcerer with a Rank-3 Honor Badge was rather reputable in the academy.
Or, he could wait for him to come out!
Normally, however, unless they had to get to some other parts of the Sorcerer tower, most of the Sorcerers would directly fly out from the tower if they wanted to leave. It was up to Grimm’s luck to see if he could wait him out.
Nine hourglasses later.
Grimm was like a patient hunter, quietly waiting in front of the door. He even brought out the book on Mixed Toxin Refinery to study. As long as the stench was still there, Grimm need not worry about his target escaping.
The patient wait yielded a fruitful result.
A Level-2 Sorceress came slowly to the door with her magic staff in hand. She stopped in front of the door and gently knocked on the door.
“Master Kimraig, the Daylily Potion mission that you have assigned has been completed.”
Grimm was sticking close behind the defenseless Sorceress’s back. Beneath the Mask of Truth, he peeked over the Sorceress’s neck and could see the Daylily Potion in her hand.
From the scent, it appeared that the potion was a high-level smell elixir.
For someone who had invented the Venus Love Vial, Grimm was highly knowledgeable in the field of scentology. Analyzing the ingredients and its functions were no difficult matter.
Grimm was so close to the Sorceress, yet she did not even notice his presence. It was quite harrowing!
Ka-chak! The great door to the laboratory opened up. Kimraig nodded at the Sorceress. In a low voice, he said, “Sorry for asking you to bring this here personally. You know the rules, Dean Amirangelo has forbidden me from leaving the laboratory before the Academy War comes to an end.”
As saying so, Kimraig left the door open and walked back to his room. As the Sorceress entered the door, suddenly, a loud alarm rang throughout the whole room!
Hmm!?
Both Kimraig and the Sorceress were startled. Kimraig suddenly recalled something as his whole body shivered in terror. Sweat was running down his back. Without even stopping to ponder, he yelled in terror, “A Concealed One!”
The Sorceress had knowledge of the mysterious odor that had been marked this concealment Sorcerer. Naturally, she knew as well that Kimraig had been marked as a target by the terrifying Concealed One of the Hydra Wrath Academy. For this very reason, Dean Amirangelo, who had discovered the secret, had formulated layers of secretive plans for the Concealed One to take the bait.
Previously, due to the Three Rings Magic Interdiction, the Sorceress was worried that he could not even enter. But now…
“Ahhh!”
With a sharp shriek, the Sorceress and the invisible figure beside were blocked by a completely invisible barrier. The barrier was like a clear bubble that did not give out any aura. It was a high-level magic interdictory mechanism crafted by a magical array Sorcerer!
Buzz! There was a spacetime distortion on the altar behind Kimraig. Amirangelo appeared with a magic staff in hand.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Grimm, the Concealed One!”
Between the exchange, Amirangelo was channeling a hematology sorcery. He started transforming gradually. A pair of invisible wings sprouted from his back. His body became twisted and he was taking the form of a botfly. A pair of prism-filled large red eyes emerged from his head.
The gemstone on his magic staff flashed for a moment. The staff transformed into a deep purple lightblade that burned furiously. The laboratory equipment beside it was vaporized in an instant. The power was astonishing!
Kimraig too induced a flame that enveloped his whole body. There was a massive surge of mana on him.
On the other hand, trapped within the magical array, Grimm’s outline was exposed. Beside him, the Sorceress that was trapped together with him quickly fled to the edge in terror. She waved her magic staff and launched a golden lightblade at Grimm’s Mask of Truth.
Grimm swung his Sabbatic Goat Staff. A tremendous high-frequency vibration collided with the golden lightblade. The ear-piercing clash echoed throughout the tiny space.
After a brief resistance, the lightblade dispersed with a poof.
“Hmph!”
In a cold huff, Grimm once again swung his Sabbatic Goat Staff. The temporary lightning shield that the Sorceress had put on as well as her magical armor were torn apart. Grimm’s left arm motioned rapidly. A localized Wild Instinct Transformation turned part of his hand into a blade made out of dark corium as he slashed at the Sorceress’s neck.
Buzz! The Sorceress’s elemental body turned into lightning before reassembling again.
However, the Sorceress could not escape from Grimm in such an enclosed space. Almost at the same time, Grimm landed a hit on the Sorceress with his Sabbatic Goat Staff.
Buzz!
The Sorceress turned pale and tried to set off the elemental body for a second time in desperation.
But she was helpless in such a confined space. As she was attacked for the second time by Grimm, an indescribable feeling of hopelessness filled her fallen body.
Beneath the Mask of Truth, Grimm turned back and looked at the passage behind. There were five Sorcerers rushing down from the top of the tower.
All five of them were Level-3 Great Sorcerers. The others four only had brief descriptions in the intelligence passed on by the Hydra Wrath Academy. The old Sorceress who led the pack however, was one of the two strongest Level-3 Sorcerers invited on a short-term basis by the Shadow Argus Academy, Panagda!
The old Sorceress’s assortment of lightning spells were terrifying. As a Demon-Hunter Sorceress that had a Rank-2 Honor Badge, her combat experience was no less than Grimm’s. She was one of the strongest Demon-Hunter Sorcerers, second only to those legendary great Sorcerers that were cloistered within the deepest regions of the Sorcerer Towers.
“Demon-Hunter Sorcerer of the Holy Tower of Seven Rings, don’t you run away this time!”
The old Sorceress’s eyes were lit up in a streak of lightning as she charged forward.
