A Sorcerer's Journey - Chapter 480
Chapter 480: Willingly Deceived
Whoosh!
Solumn pulled out an azure shimmering blade from his left iris. His batwings were stretched fully. An ominous aura exploded from him. Solumn’s body was blurred amidst the dark aura. He shouted,” Get back!”
If Grimm were to die now, his summoned creatures would disappear. The four other Sorcerers would be put in a tight spot.
He pointed his azure-colored shimmering blade at the light beam in an attempt to stop it.
But in an instant, the azure blade disintegrated upon contact with the scarlet light and shattered into a million pieces. The almost fifty-meter huge infernal scarlet blade went through Solumn’s blade effortlessly. In a screech of agonizing pain, he was torn into shreds.
On the other hand, a raging power of ice crystals erupted almost simultaneously. The frost formed a small cyclone. The twenty-meter tall ice phoenix let out a high-pitched screech. Boom! The phoenix turned into a blizzard and headed toward the brilliant huge sword.
“Ice Marrow Crystallization, sealing technique of the Ice Age!”
The Ice Marrow Crystal and the Ice Phoenix shattered at the same time. Powerful ice energy had caused a layer of frost to emerge from the surface of Millie’s grey hair. Her sorcerer’s robe was as elegant as colored ice crystals. Her eyes were fixed on the seemingly-invincible sword as snowflakes erupted endlessly toward the sword.
In an instant, the blizzard centered on the huge infernal blade and transformed into thousands of ice snakes. They slithered continuously, trying to drown the Acraepoid Noble in a seal of ice.
However, the ice snakes too were shredded effortlessly as they came within ten meters of the infernal sword. They were unable to stop the blade.
Panicked, Millie gave up trying to save Grimm. She helplessly looked at Grimm from afar.
The might of the self-sacrificing attack was not something that could be fought off by a level one being.
“Hehehehe, Wicky’s Great Spell of Reanimation!”
To Solumn and Millie’s disbelief, Wicky was laughing raucously. He performed an original spell of his own. Although the two Sorcerers knew that he had graduated in the same batch as them from the academy of the Holy Tower of Seven Rings, they thought he was just a Sorcerer who specialized in physical training.
However, even Grimm and Claudia who were more aware than the others were stunned as well.
Rumble…
A hundred-over-meter shadow suddenly crawled out from beneath the ground. A twenty-over-meter large gigantic stone arm reached toward the Acraepoid Noble. Its humongous size created waves on the ground.
It was the large statue that stood a hundred meters tall that had collapsed decades ago in the Dark Destroyer temple when the Demon-Hunter Sorcerers first landed in the Infernal Spirit World!
Now, after injecting mana into the statue for decades, Wicky had actually reanimated the gargantuan with a temporary reincarnation!
For the first time, the huge infernal sword was shaken.
Although the Acraepoid Noble was heading toward Grimm, the sword in his hand made a sudden turn toward the approaching statue and chopped off its hand with ease.
The blade then turned around and charged toward Grimm without stopping, creating shockwaves behind him.
In the end, the huge stone statue was but an empty frame to the high-level being. It was insignificant after all.
There was a sorry look on Wicky’s face. Still, he retreated out of helplessness.
Beneath the Mask of Truth, Grimm’s eyes were shimmering. In such a critical moment, he became even more tranquil. It was the result of his long training in the matters of life and death as an Anatomy Refinery Sorcerer.
While summoning tens of thousands of Abyssal Demons to protect himself, he got Little Myna to fly away from him at blazing speed. Finally, he held his Sabbatic Goat Staff high and channeled mana to form a dark red orb between the two horns of the staff. The channeling was complete and the orb became stabilized.
Huff!
Grimm activated the first layer of his Wild Instinct transformation. Layers of dark corium scales emerged from underneath his skin. His beastly body was like that of a leopard’s. With one leg on the flying Giant Abyssal Demon, he launched himself to the sky. At the sound of a wind lash, he pointed the Sabbatic Goat Staff toward the ground.
“Hmm? These pink aura…”
Beneath the Mask of Truth, Grimm’s flaming eye glanced to the side. It was Claudia who had performed an ancient Black Sorcerer’s spell to collect charm in an attempt to reduce the enemy’s damage.
What was surprising was that although Solumn, Millie, and Wicky were helpless against the huge infernal blade, the sword seemed to have been slightly eroded after being engulfed in the pink-colored aura.
“That’s all I can do to help!”
Claudia shouted from a distance. She had found a relatively safe place to hide.
Screeeeech!
The Giant Abyssal Demon that Grimm had been riding on was impaled by the infernal sword. It was shredded apart in mid-air. There was nothing between the Level-3 Noble and Grimm now!
Although they were tens of meters apart, Grimm could feel the sear on his skin caused by the impending pressure of the huge infernal sword. The surrounding air became distorted and pushed toward him. It was a sign that he had been completely locked on by his enemy.
“Fire blast!”
The dark red orb between the two horns of the Sabbatic Goat Staff turned into a pillar of light that was launched toward the huge infernal sword from above.
Boom!
There was a buzzing sound as circles of flames erupted. The tip of the infernal blade emerged from the cloud.
The huge sword had penetrated the fireblast as if it were natural. Sensing that Little Myna had not flown far enough to call for reinforcement from the Abyssal Demons, and faced with the fact that he was about to be shredded by the huge infernal blade, there was no panic on his face at all. He did not choose to escape.
His fingers elegantly tore open a Dimensional Gap as he took out a green vial and a deep red cat’s eye stone.
The green vial was the Seraph’s Echo that Grimm had purchased for the price of twenty five Sorcerer Essences in the Sorcerers World. It was a hallucinogenic potion that had great efficacy.
The deep red cat’s eye stone was made from the Blood of the Tainted Eye in Mount Serpentine. It was the cat’s eye stone from hell that was forged using Little Myna’s mysterious knowledge. It had almost a thousand times the combined power of the Blood of the Tainted Eye and the serpentine in fooling a person into thinking his surroundings were real!
At the moment when Grimm had broken the green vial, a ceremonious orchestral melody danced around the tip of Grimm’s left index finger.
The melody went toward the Acraepoid Noble.
The deep red cat’s eye stone from hell disappeared from Grimm’s hand after it had been activated by Grimm; as if it had never appeared in the world. Everything before was like an illusion.
Grimm did not dare to stop. In the next moment, he blinked and reappeared thousands of meters away beside the Myna.
“Master, there’s another group of Acraepoids coming.”
Grimm looked toward where Little Myna was pointing to. Hundreds of Level-2 Acraepoids, being led by a Level-3 Acraepoid, were charging at them. However, they were still far away and the Level-3 Acraepoid was at a level much lower than that of the Acraepoid Noble.
“Ignore them first. What are the chances that the cat’s eye stone from hell would drag him into the Serpentine’s illusory realm?”
At the Myna’s side, tens of thousands of Abyssal Demons were screeching and swarming toward the Acraepoid Noble who was engulfed by the seemingly unlimited number of beasts.
Unless he could kill Grimm instantly, he would have no chance at all after being consumed by the huge number of Abyssal Demons.
This was the terror of the Ancient Phaseless Demons that the Ancient Sorcerers had to face. The Abyssal Demons that could be summoned by each one of the Ancient Phaseless Demons were comparable to a Stigmata Sorcerer!
“I don’t know, a being at this level against a consumable item that was made using the Blood of the Tainted Eye with a purity level of a hundred… it should be good enough at ten percent efficacy, after all… huh?”
Before the Myna could finish its words, the Sorcerers on site were all stunned.
The Acraepoid Noble had really come to a stop. The Noble was reveling in the illusory realm that came from his imagination.
Yet, he did not seem to have fallen completely into it. He suddenly opened his eyes and killed some approaching Abyssal Demons. He looked at the battle-raged Infernal Spirit World that had descended into hell as well as Grimm who was surrounded by layers of Abyssal Demons. In the end, he let out a sigh and closed his eyes on his own will.
“He… he is willingly choosing to fall.”
Little Myna said, confused at the situation. Grimm, too, was in disbelief.
As a Sorcerer, he could not understand at all. Why was it that even though he knew he was in an illusory realm, the Acraepoid Noble chose to be willingly deceived? Was it due to his weak will or his despair for the future?
Buzz…
As if a mystical realm had opened up, a dimensional vortex appeared and sucked the Acraepoid Noble. He vanished in thin air.
